The cottage has been tastefully furnished with an open-plan living area which creates a seamless flow between the main living areas. The kitchen is well-equipped for culinary creations, the dining area invites you to gather round to enjoy those meals and the sitting area is the spot for relaxation and downtime.

Further along, you'll find two comfortable bedrooms, a family bathroom and a lovely, enclosed patio area to the rear, where you can relax in the hot tub with an indulgent soak after a day out in the Northern Dales. You can also enjoy the surrounding grounds which are shared with the hotel's guests.

Walworth Castle is a magnificent Grade I listed, 12th-century castle, which operates as a wonderful three-star hotel, and from your cottage, you can stroll across to the hotel to treat yourself to a glorious afternoon tea, a bar meal in Farmers' Bar, or push the boat out and sample an exquisite dinner in Hansard's Restaurant and Library Tower. A short drive will take you to Darlington with a selection of restaurants, pubs and shops, as befits a large thriving town.

A little further afield, explore the splendid countryside around Richmond and Barnard Castle, enjoying the classic Dales landscape of dry-stone walls, rivers and valleys. This is the perfect walking country for those wanting to explore the upper valleys of Middleton-in-Teesdale, incorporating the well-known Cauldron Snout and the High and Low Force waterfalls.

Head north and visit the magnificent Durham Cathedral, perched high above the meandering River Wear. This delightful cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the Northern Dales.

Walworth Castle Holiday Cottage Reviews

Alison
This was our 8th visit to this wonderful cottage. As always the cottage was spotlessly clean and warm. The staff at the hotel are so welcoming and friendly when we picked up the key and had a meal. The enclosed yard is perfect for our small dogs. We love the hot tub which is well maintained. Its the perfect location for exploring the area and small villages. We loved the new updates to the cottage. Just back and have already booked for next year and cant wait. Let the countdown begin.

Big Sheep - EX39 5AP
about 19 Miles
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
Lightwater Valley - HG4 3HT
about 26 Miles
Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family.  The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower.  For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel.  Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too.  If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.
