About Butterfly Lodge

Butterfly Lodge is a charming, detached lodge located in a peaceful holiday park close to the parish village of Catterick near Tunstall, North Yorkshire. Butterfly Lodge, nestled inside the Swaledale valley and offering easy access to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, is a delightful setting for your next Yorkshire Dales break, finished to a high quality and ideal for a small family or group of four.

On arrival, two in-demand off-road parking places await you; after parking, make your walk up to the sunny front deck and relax on the seats while taking in your peaceful surroundings. Inside the lodge, you'll find an attractive sitting room with neutral tones and plenty of plush seating to make you feel at home; why not turn on the TV for a family movie night while the woodburning stove flickers?

Travel to the back of the lodge to find a fantastic kitchen with an abundance of amenities, including a large fridge/freezer and dishwasher. After the group's appointed chef has prepared a scrumptious meal, enjoy your feast in the dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with natural light and make it a pleasant place to dine.

When the sun goes down, proceed to the master bedroom, which has a double bed, a fantastic walk-in closet, and a convenient en-suite shower room. Another well-presented double room nearby has easy access to a family bathroom; the bathroom is home to a bath and a shower over, giving you the option of a quick freshen up or a longer soak in.

The neighbouring village of Tunstall is home to the Bay Horse Inn, a great destination for a pint and lunch, while the larger village of Hipswell is only three miles away and has all your necessities in one location. After you've picked up your necessities at the village superstore, why not enjoy a round of golf at the Catterick Golf Club?

Butterfly Lodge Reviews

Colette
The hot tub wasnt available for use on the first night as hadnt been switched on early enough so was far too cold until the following day. Outside light at the front is not working. The 4 keys arent labelled so difficult to know which one to use each time. The towels had a musty smell to them but the bedding was lovely and clean and smelled fine. There were a few hairs on the toilet and around the bathroom and one of the toilets was unclean. Other than that we had a great stay and everything else was just as advertised. Everything thats needed for a stay was at the lodge and the heating was suitable for this time of year restricted at 22 degrees. Would go again.

Big Sheep - EX39 5AP
about 6 Miles
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
Lightwater Valley - HG4 3HT
about 12 Miles
Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family.  The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower.  For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel.  Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too.  If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.
Fountains Abbey - HG4 3DY
about 17 Miles
This is an outstanding world heritage site located close to Ripon in the North Yorkshire area. Nature lovers will be in their element with an abundance of wide open spaces to explore and there are special guided tours for families.  Some of the highlights may include seeing wild deer and bats during your visit.  The grounds are fantastic to wander round but there is also an Elizabethan Mansion, Victorian Church, Georgian Water Garden and the finest example of Cistercian Abbey ruins in the country - Well worth a visit!
