Portside Reviews

Superb house with amazing views over the bay and down into St. Ives. 1 minute walk from the station which is a 3 minute ride into St. Ives. Facilities in the house are as described and the open plan livingkitchen is of a very high standard. Hot tub is great with the amazing views. We were a family of 4 and plenty of space for more people, can imagine it is beautiful in the warmer months to eat outside on the balcony, we didnt have the best weather but didnt stop us. The EV charging point is a great addition to the house. Tesco is only 2 minutes away and the bars, restaurants and cafes in St. Ives are well worth a visit. Easy access to other places such as Lands End, Kyance Cove and Perranporth again with beautiful beaches, views and places to eat.
I have already sent an email re this. There is much to like about the property location, stunning views , very comfortable beds . I loved the spa bath. I stripped the beds prior to leaving, in order to help with housekeeper who had been very helpful. I discovered that the mattress cover and mattress in the master bedroom were badly stained and the duvet in the other big bedroom was also badly stained. Very disappointing.
We had a lovely time. The property had everything you can think of and the view is stunning. Hopefully we will return soon.
Perfect. Stunning home. Location is amazing. Loved everything about the house. So close to the train for journey to St Ives. So close to beach. Views from terrace and hot tub are
A pleasant property and generally well maintained. Two units in the kitchen would not open or close properly and crockeryglassware section needs an update i.e so there are 6 or one strand cups that fit the saucers etc. Otherwise satisfactory

We have just returned from this lovely home. The house has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay in the gorgeous Carbis Bay area. The owners had thought of everything , the house extremely clean & spacious & having your own parking space is such a bonus in this area. The train to take you into St Ives is right on your doorstep. Would not hesitate to book this house again. Sykes Cottages once again made everything very easy & streamline, with no issues at all. Thank You Sykes
Great place we had the best week stay here and will definitely be back
A second stay in a lovely apartment issues with the TV and Sky box several times during our stay not sure why an apartment of this quality and price shares the Sky system with the adjoining apartment, and surprised that the apartment wasn't cleaned halfway through a two week stay. Great view and excellent location, shame about the big price increases for 2022.
The villa was very nicely furnished, spacious and had a beautiful view. However, the images of some of the items inside the property were not very accurate, for example there was no Sonos speaker in the property, so we were disappointed as we purposely left our portable one at home thinking that there would be one provided. Some of the crockery were chipped which is not very hygenic. We had to wash the throws which had a musty smell on them, there were no bulbs in two of the bedroom lamps, we were unable to access Netflix or Sky movies in any of the rooms beside the one room that contained the double bed and the garden area outside of the master bedroom needed cleaning. I contacted Carbis Bay holidays regarding these matters on the first, second and third days We only had a fourday holiday but nothing was done about it apart from Luke coming out on the last day and logging us into the Netflix, which by that time was virtually no use as it was our last night there. Loved the villa but very disappointed with the lack of service from Carbis Bay and the owners.

My family and I enjoyed a very successful stay at Portside. Proximity to station and beach was a great asset. Carbis Bay Holidays resolved the issues with the WiFi promptly and the washing machine door. Was contemplating booking the accommodation for next year we enjoyed the stay so much. Was disappointed to discover the price has increased 60 next year. Either this is an astute business move on behalf of the owner capitalising on the effect of the pandemic and G7 or naked profiteering.

Our family loved visiting portside. Ideally situated for the train and the beach. Our 4 year old was in her element!! Gorgeous property! Would love to visit again!

We had a lovely week at Portside despite the weather being up and down. We thought the accommodation was without a doubt one of the best holiday accommodation's that we have ever stayed in. When we arrived we were met by the housekeeper she was very friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was spotless when we arrived. Portside was very well equipped with a lovely kitchen which my husband very much enjoyed cooking in. The views from the open plan living area were amazing. The bedrooms were really spacious and very comfortable. My two daughters very much enjoyed bath time in the spa bath. E.Moscatelli

I really want to let you know about our experiences at Portside. Everything was absolutely perfect! The apartment was just as shown in the internet even better. The view was wonderful and the furniture was so stylish and done with such good taste we loved the apartment. The equipment of the kitchen and the whole apartment was so high class, we felt very much at home. The location of Portside is also perfect near to the beach, with perfect view and in one of the most beautiful parts of Cornwall. We loved going to St Ives. The boat trip for seeing seals was great. We saw a large number of them, about 25 at least. Out time at Portside was one of our holidays we liked best. S. Burtscher

Have to say that our expectations were exceeded lovely house and fantastic view, and to top it off we were greeted by a pod of dolphins in the bay on our first day. Perfect location for a beach holiday and our 3 year old son was in his element so didnt feel the need to stray far from the bay. We did the walk and train to St Ives and had lunch at the Watermill, other than that it was beach, beach and beach! A. Freeman

Portside in an excellent spot. If you have a visitors then get them to park in the Carbis Bay rail station car park opposite for free. Use the excellent 'lifeline' of the railway to travel to St Ives, it's cheap and really reliable. We used the following restaurants that we thoroughly recommend ........Black Rock, The Seafood Cafe, Carbis Bay Hotel,The Italian, Pizza Express, La Casista, The Bean Inn and Beck's Fish & Chips. L. Hi, we had a wonderful stay, the property was excellent as was the administration of the holiday. Excellent location for hopping on the train to St Ives as we were so close to the station. We recommend the Porthminster cafe, Peppers and Cafe Pasta in St Ives, Carbis Bay Hotel conservatory for cream teas and Olives Cafe in St Ives for delicious cakes. Walks we would recommend, Carbis Bay to St Ives along the coastal path , Carbis Bay to Lelant along Porth Kidney beach, headland walk around Hells Mouth out towards Godrevy lighthouse, walk around Zennor and Tinners Arms for lunch, thanks again.
