The Old Forge, St Just Reviews

We loved the cottage, super clean, well appointed and had everything we could have wished for. The owner was super generous with the welcome pack and we were certainly wowed by it. Abundance of logs for the log burner and kindling again very generous. We will almost certainly return and will recommend to all our family and friends.
Beautiful cottage, fabulous location. Accommodation was to a high specification and had everything we needed and more! The garden was a great size and most importantly was secure for our dog. The welcome food pack was a very pleasant surprise. St. Just is a lovely little place with a surprisingly busy feel about it. We were spoilt for choice when we wanted to eat out. We had read previous comments about the adjacent property causing an irritation but we barely noticed our neighbours. Even having experienced some very wet and windy weather during our stay, we really didnt want to leave at the end of our week.
A fabulous property. The owner has really thought of everything to make the house a very comfortable home from home. We are already planning our return.

The old forge was incredibly beautiful very tranquil setting nice private garden ... The old forge was incredibly beautiful very tranquil setting nice private garden amber room inside and everything you could possibly need it has
Lovely cottage in a great location. Everything you could think of was provided. Accurate description of the cottage and would highly recommend
Matthew
Absolutely lovely place, hot tub, big kitchen and space for the dog to run around in the garden, superb. Kitchen fridge and freezer door needs fixing is the only down point, but didnt affect our relaxing time.
Dagmar
Fantastic cottage. It has everything you need. The hot tub was a big plus and the garden for dog owners is perfect. The bathrooms are spacious. The kitchen has all the gadgets you would want. Highly recommend this stunning cottage.
We had a great stay at this fabulous house. Very well equipped and the family loved the garden and hot tub.
Beautiful house, beds comfy, bathrooms hotel standard , kitchen got everything, hot tub relaxing, Our friends stood in amazement when walking in. Garden a sun trap , Traffic noise wasnt an issue and planes only occasionally. Had baby owls in one of trees being fed by their mum for a few nights Only downside was the fridge was a bit small for catering for 6 adults , especially after the Tesco delivery arrived
Joshua
Amazing house and facilities, hot tub was an exceptional treat! Very helpful owners
Lovely property and really enjoyed our stay. The kitchen hamper was a delight and we really enjoyed your property. Only slight negative is that the kitchen could be better stocked. No potatoe peeler or corkscrew although we were told on leaving there was a corkscrew but not in obvious location. Would happily stay again. Very clean and comfortable accomodation.

Another wonderful stay in your beautiful property for me. Fantastic location for many beaches and towns. Spacious & clean. The hot tub was used almost every evening! A few notes of feedback from the group that would have made our stay a little better would have been the provision of oven gloves a vegetable peeler a stair gate at the top of the stairs as well as bottom Other than that, your property is beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Some of my friends who came with me are keen to book again with their own families. And Im sure Ill be back again next year. So great for groups of friends, families as well as little ones. Thank you for another wonderful stay.
Wow what a place just lovley . Didn't want to come away .everything perfect .Great walks from the cottage .Great hot tub .beautiful enclosed garden for the dog and a surprise breakfast pack and Great to have bath robes and you just couldn't want for anything .can't wait to book for next year
The cottage had a lovely homey feel to it and thanks to the colder weather we made excellent use of the wood fire and logs provided. The welcome pack was a wonderful surprise with delicious locally sourced food. There are some fantastic walks in the surrounding area with beautiful views some of which can be seen from the cottage as well. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.
Enjoyed stay . Good parking for car ..Overall very good property.

A really wonderfully appointed, comfortable holiday property. Room for the whole family with great amenities which were clean and comfortable. The property was conveniently located for many local attractionsbeachescafesrestaurants etc. The hot tub was fantastic and it was nice to see it being 'servicedmaintained' during our stay too. The kitchen had everything we needed even for 5 adults and a toddler. Have already recommended to friends and would stay again.
Property is fantastic and very well equipped. Even a Bluetooth speaker for music in the garden. Nikkis efforts on the property are very evident and she has made every possible effort to create an amazing place to stay.
Great cottage, very well equipped and very comfortable. Only negatives were being on the flight path from Lands End airport with aircraft departing at 820 and 825 every morning flying at only a few 100 feet over the house. Quite near a road which got quite busy at times.
A beautiful house with a lovely garden.
Our stay at the old forge was absolutely amazing and exceeded our expectations on every aspect. The property was spotless, the facilities are amazing especially the hot tub and the breakfast pack in the fridge was a great touch. We were slightly concerned reading the two negative reviews but after visiting I can clarify yes, there is a property close by but it caused us no issues whatsoever. The second property has its own path that runs above the back garden so no one walks past your windows or dining room. Also the property is set well back from the road and whilst there are houses on the other side we did not feel overlooked at any point. The road that runs past is fairly quiet and also caused us no issues. Would definitely recommend and would love to return

Probably the best holiday home weve stayed in! Fantastic location, lovely garden and hot tub. Masses of parking and the house had literally everything you will need. Everything was there from tea bags, sugar, coffee, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls, bin liners etc etc. Lovely surprise left for us in the fridge, a full fry up package including sausages, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, white pudding and eggs. Furniture and beds very comfortable and bathrooms and showers etc were lovely. Very clean inside and out. Location is perfect. We walked from the house to Lands End along the coastal path which was spectacular about 6 miles. Minack theatre is a must see and is just 15 mins away. For golf enthusiasts, Mullion golf course down by the Lizard is superb. There is so much to do in the area. We would highly recommend this holiday home, it was a fabulous relaxing week and well definitely be back. Well done to the owners who have obviously spent lots of time and love in creating this lovely home
Steven
Probably our best cottage choice ever. Really well appointed and presented accommodation. Mobile reception is not great but there's not a lot that the owners can do about that rural Cornwall and in a valley. Some great short walks to the coast and St Just from the cottage gate short distance on the road to reach the footpaths. A very welcoming base to explore a new to us part of the UK.
The Old Forge is the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed at. It was immaculately clean, really comfortable, had everything you needed. It is spacious, well maintained and feels luxurious. Ideally located to visit many attractions yet set in a quiet rural location. The welcome pack was unexpected and delicious. The hot tub was an additional bonus. The electric charging points for the car made our holiday hassle free. We didnt want to leave. Thank you !
Katherine
A beautiful cottage, exceeded all our expectations. Well equipped for every need. Relaxing and beautiful setting and so glad weve stayed at The old forge. We would definitely come back and stay sometime in the future. Thank you.

Were not ones to complain you cant give anything less than a 1 star review but its only fair anyone booking should be aware. The pictures of the property make it appear isolated, and the isolated search filter guides you to it. The main road of the village is running straight past, and there is very little privacy. You cant see it in the pictures but there is a secondary property within 5 foot, its purposely cropped out of the images. Occupiers of that property are constantly walking past the dining room windows looking straight in to and from the shared driveway. Theres also 45 properties over road that have a clear view around the property. This is more of a gold fish bowl than a retreat. We complained and were brushed under the carpet multiple times and were refused any kind of refund, even though we didnt stay in the property, after paying 1000 for 3 nights!!
The price and photos didnt reflect the property. Overlooked and noisy 60mph road next to the property, another property is also directly behind the cottage. We stayed for two weeks and the gardener, cleaner and owner used the property wed paid 2500 for as a throughway for the Saturday changeover of the adjoining property. Leaving gates open for our dog to get out while they walked their own dog round our private property. Not impressed at all.
A lovely well presented property with everything you need provided. Would have no hesitation in recommending The Old Forge.
Amanda
Beautifully appointed cottage with lovely details. Position of property was perfect for exploring this part of Cornwall.
Fabulous Property. We had a great time, which was desperately needed. Niki was great
Andrew
The Old Forge cottage was excellent clean and wonderful cottage. They left a lovely pack of bacon, sausage, eggs, tomato's and more for breakfast which was a nice treat and very tasty. The rooms were spacious and shower and bath great. It's In a lovely location. I would 100 recommend it and will defiantly stay their again.
Andrew
We really enjoyed our stay. A very well equipped and decorated cottage. Very comfortable in all respects. Excellent kitchen and equipment for those looking to cook in. The children loved the hot tub in the garden. The cottage is very well located for exploring the coastal paths and the old tin mines around St Just, and we found some wonderful sandy beaches Porthchapel and Gwynver are the best, we think, but Sennen Cove is great too if you are looking for something more accessible. St Just has a good range of local shops a small Co Op, a good good butcher and green grocer, and a terrific Moomaid ice cream parlour in the main square or there is a huge Sainbury's off the A30 in Penzance. Nikki, the owner, dropped round a couple of times and was friendly and helpful. Definitely a five star cottage and location for anyone looking to explore the far west of Cornwall.
Andrea
Beautiful place and had everything you could think of for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Will definitely love to go again.
The cottage was really clean and suitable for what we needed. We had two dogs and walked miles throughout fields and cliff edges as we wanted. Home from home again just as wanted. Couldn't fault at all.
Very thoughtfully appointed property. Very helpful owner, thanks Nikki!
We were looking forward to this break and we totally enjoyed every moment we were there, fantastic! !
Terence
It was a home from home experience with the added luxury of the hot tub which was so enjoyable after long walk on Sennen beach with the dogs just perfect. ......
Claire
