Pen Y Garreg Reviews

Warm welcome, very clean and we had a great stay as it was close to activities, rail link and areas we wanted to visit. The property is maintained to a high standard. Would stay there again!
A great property, especially the hot tub with a fantastic view. Sian the owner was very friendly and provided a welcome pack. Would definitely recommend to others.

Beautifully presented and clean property. Very handy for nearby slate caverns, zip lining, underground minigolf. Also convenient location for travelling to Portmeirion 20mins,or general mountain scenery walks etc.
House was great. Very clean and full of useful things. The hot tub was lovely. The only improvement would be a heated airer to dry towels etc on days where it wasn't sunny enough to dry outside, or cold enough to have heating on. The town is a great base for walking and well served with public transport we travelled by train from the south coast.

Realy good location to explore north wales. Good clean property well mentained and well stocked with everything you need . Will be back soon .
House is perfect apart from a little electricity glitch in the middle of night. Phoned the number in the folder advised to do the trip switch. Didn't work. I messaged her again and no reply. We had the first night without electricity. In the morning, woken up by loud noise as next door is undergoing renovation. But, house is a beautiful place to stay and the hot tub on the top garden was a very nice addition. Shame we have to cut our stay short. But, we will be back again to enjoy it.

We loved the property, its situation, cleanliness and all that it provided. The welcome package was a treat with the wine and Welsh cakes. The owners were very easy to talk to and ask about the local area.
Very pleased with the accommodation and its location. Very clean, supplied with everything you may need during stay. Great communication with the host.
Beverley
Great property, great facilities and very well kitted out. Very well maintained and extremely welcoming. Had a very nice stay
We had a lovely stay, the weather was good for Wales and got to see a lot of the area, the house was clean, tidy, well equipped for all weather's and plenty of storage and the hot tub was a welcome feature especially for my husband has he has back trouble. The view from the property garden was beautiful.
Very clean and tidy in the house ,having milk there and bread when we got there and bottle of wine is a lovely touch . Hot tub he lovely and nice when been for a walk .
This was our 3rd visit to Pen y Garreg the house is beautifully presented with everything you need for a holiday stay. So many things to do nearby with beaches, mountains and rivers all close by and the hot tub with views over the valley at the end of the day is a perfect treat.
Victoria
Very clean and tidy, kitchen very well equipped, hot tub was an added luxury we loved! Well located for Snowdonia National Park. Thank you for the welcome pack this was a lovely extra touch which made the property feel very homely.
We could not recommend Pen Y Garreg enough. The house was absolutely spotless and had everything you could need throughout your stay. The hot tub was also an added bonus. The house is also in the perfect area for travelling to other locations we travelled to Snowdon, Caernarfon and Llandudno which took around 50 minutes. Zip is also a 2 minute drive dlfrom here.

An absolutely beautiful property to stay in. Had absolutely everything you could need the bread, milk, eggs, biscuits and wine was an especially nice surpriseWas super clean. Amazing views from the house and the hot tub was an extra bonus. Sian was very friendly and went the extra mile providing a birthday card for my husband who was enjoying his 50th Birthday present zip lining in the caverns . She was very accommodating when we had to have a late checkout due to a vehicle mishap. We would definitely recommend this property to others.
Lorraine
Lovely property with a warm homely feel, really comfortable with everything you need, plenty of space to relax. Beautiful scenery on the doorstep. Great hot tub with a stunning view. Thoroughly recommend.
Lorraine
Beautiful property with everything we needed and the hot tub views were incredible. Lovely friendly owner lived next door .
Everything went well and the house was as described. Landlord lived next door and was very helpful and friendly.
Just wanted to echo the reviews that have gone previously following our stay in August. Sian was a great host, the welcome pack was a really nice touch and the house was spotless. Easy to find and only a 5 minute walk to the town centre where there is a mid sized CoOp, free cash machine, a few small shops including a bakery and a few cafs. Plenty of kit in the kitchen, the only thing that bothered me only a bit was the location of the fridge which is tucked away in an adjoining room behind a door which is probably just under 6ft highjust have to be careful and duck down a bit if you are tall. Sian dropped a short introductory text a few days before we set off with some useful info about what the options were for eating in Blaenau centre in the evening and how to get the keys to the property. Sians description of the property is super accurate which is a big plus for meyou know exactly what you are getting and its not being oversold. So, yes, the garden is accessed up about 20 steps and its quite steep so some care has to be taken but I had a accident 2 months ago and have been sporting a medical boot and managed ok.the views from the garden are great, its an ideal place for a hot tub, to eat or simply to chill out. Other nice touches were Wifi. Sky Q and lots of plugs with USB portsthe only thing that could be added was a shaver point in the bathroom but its not an issue if you have an adapter plug. Blaenau Ffestiniog is a great base to explore the area without having to spend hours driving. Portmeirion, Porthmadog, Beddgelert, Criccieth, BetwsyCoed and Harlech are all within a 20 30 minute drive whilst the Zip World slate caverns are about 5 mins away. There are multiple train journeys in Porthmadog but they get booked up quite quicklywe did Porthmadog Caernarvon return which was about a 2 hour 20 minute journey each way well worth it for the scenery with a 2 hour slot for sight seeing around Caernarvon which only gives you time for a fleeting visit. There is a stellar Italian restaurant in Caernarfon called Osteria, we went for lunch which was superb and it was quite busy so booking for evenings is essential. For anyone that likes beer, Porthmadog is home to The Purple Moose Brewery, the brewery shop is well worth searching out and stocks lots of local craft beers as well as the Purple Moose range. The Australia pub next door is worth a visit and also does great pub food. Final word to say thanks to Sianwe had a great time and Pen Y Garreg met all our needs.
The house is really fabulous. So clean and wellappointed and in a good location which made for a fantastic base to explore Snowdonia. Sian was really accommodating and welcoming the welcome pack on arrival was a lovely touch. Well definitely be back.
Would definitely give the host and the accommodation a 10010! The house was just fantastic! We arrived very late and got the keys from the safe, when we entered the property Sian had left the heating on for us, so the place was so lovely and warm! A lovely welcome to a beautiful place. The house was absolutely spotless and the view from the hot tub is just breathtaking! Even on a cold day it was lovely to be in the hot tub! Will definitely be recommending Sian and Pen Y Garreg to others, and will definitely be staying here again!
Gwynedd
Sian was brilliant hostess nothing was too much bother for her, we had everything that we needed and the house was spotless. It was a local lockdown while we stayed there but you can always find things to do, with some beautiful walks etc. Would highly recommend and Im sure I will be back.

Very clean, comfortable and good location, loved it and will definitely recommend to others.
Absolutely would 100 recommend this place to stay. We stayed in September 2020 for a week. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this holiday cottage, which was very clean, well presented and a fabulous breathtaking location. Would definitely come back in the future!
Great location to travel in between where I wanted Sian was a very welcoming lady. Highly recommend this property
We found the property exceptionally clean and the owner was friendly and approachable. We were delighted with the welcome gifts on arrival and every detail had been thought of so that the property functioned like a home away from home.
Absolutely loved our stay in the stunning area! Amazing views! The hostowner really couldn't have been more lovely. We had everything we needed and more, her attention to detail made it feel like a home away from home. The house was spotless clean and beautifully decorated. We didn't get to do everything we wanted due to the Covid virus outbreak but still had a fantastic time and would definitely come back!
The house was lovely and clean and had all the facilities we needed. The hot tub was amazing, even on a cool evening!
Everything was perfect! And an amazing host! We got stuck due to Storm Ciara and the flood's but the host helped us out tremendously and we are so grateful! Would definitely recommend because the house and the host is perfect and so are the views from the hot tub
Really enjoyed my stay, host was extremely helpful and kind. Car broke and she allowed us a late check out to get things fixed. Highly recommend a stay here
Hasana
Stayed here for two nights with the girls. The hosts were very hospitable and gave us all the relevant information we needed. The house is extremely comfortable and the hot tub was a bonus

Our weekend Holiday in Snowdonia was wonderful. Sian the owner was amazing and personal in her approach. We had a feel at home experience! We could see the effort and focus into making it a pleasant stay. Definitely would recommend others this accommodation. In Summary Professionally done with a Personal Touch.
Sian was a brilliant host her attention to detail us amazing. The house and garden is gorgeous and we will most certainly be back
Clean and comfortable property on a fantastic spot.
Our holiday here was fabulous. Sian, the owner, really has thought of everything you could possibly need and was wonderfully welcoming and helpful. The house was absolutely spotless. A real home away from home. It's a great base for exploring the mountains nearby and we only used the car once to get to Snowdon. Would highly recommend this place.
We went as a group of 2 adults and 4 mini adults from 16 to 24. The cottage was fantastic. Had everything you would need for a self catering week. The hot tub, garden, views from the top of the garden were also fantastic. We spent the week walking around the area and beyond. We did mountains and woods and waterfalls which were local. Snowdon, mountain bikes, cader idris mountain, river kayaking, beaches and more. The area is a great base to explore North Wales. The activities we did were all within an hours drive. After a full day out we would come back and prepare a meal and sit at the dining table to share photos and talk about our day. Sian kept in touch with us and was great to meet her midway through our stay. Blaenau is a lovely little village, people very friendly and has one or two eateries and a great local pubs, Kings Head is very friendly. Really enjoyed the holiday, Thanks Sian.
Our holiday cottage was extremely well equipped, very clean and comfortable. It had everything we could have needed for our stay plus extra personal touches. The hot tub was fantastic. The owner was friendly and helpful. A great family cottage, in a good position for accessing many exciting family activities. We had a wonderful holiday.
Lovely house in a great location for exploring North Wales. Fantastic views with lots of walks from the door. If you are in to mountain biking this is an ideal spot.
We stayed in the cottage for 2 nights and it was excellent for the weekend away. It has all the facilities needed, beds are super comfy. The best of the cottage is the elevated garden with terrace it was nice to have breakfasts there and bbq in the evening. The hot tub is another benefit, which is nice to relax in after a day of exploring Snowdonia National Park. We were very happy with our stay and definitely would stay again if we visit Snowdonia.
