Elv Cottage Reviews

Great property, location, hot tub and property owner who communicated brilliantly throughout. Made good use of the hot tub even after a day out in Chester. Wouldn't hesitate to book up again when in the area.
An absolutely lovely little cottage which was very clean and homely. The bed was very comfortable, and the hot tub was amazing after busy days out in Chester and Liverpool! Would definitely recommend, and hope to return!

This is the second time we have stayed at Elv cottage and once again had a great time. Gaynor is a fantastic host and the cottage has everything you need in a comfortable & clean environment with a hot tub in the private garden to relax in after walking around Chester. We also caught the train to Liverpool and had a fun filled day including an amazing light show at St George's hall. Will definitely be booking again
Elv cottage was an ideal location for a busy week visiting Chester in the sunshine but was a little oasis of peace away from the bustle. The owner Gaynor was very good keeping in touch before the visit and was at the end of the phone if we needed her. We didnt use the hot tub but gather from the visitor book it is very popular. We had a fantastic holiday.
We had a lovely stay in Elv Cottage, it was a perfect little retreat after a long day sight seeing. Gaynors attentive, considerate and thoughtful, the perfect host. Thank you for a lovely stay, we will be coming back! Mike & Fiona

Lovely cosy cottage, well equipped kitchen. Excellent location for walking distance to Chester centre, pleasant 15 min stroll along the river path. Property in quiet residential area, added bonus of a hot tub in a very secluded garden, which we made full use of once back from a busy day exploring Chester. Gaynor the host is lovely and welcoming, although I didn't meet her, I spoke with her on the phone and she helped with a few questions about eating outdirections etc. We would definitely retun to this property when visiting Chester again .
Caroline
Perfect for a couple wanting to explore Chester which is about a 15 minute walk with lots to see, eateries & pubs but the cottage is more than well equipped if you want to prepare meals in. Also great to relax in the hot tub in the garden on the evening's. Gaynor is a great host with lots of information and easily contacted if needed. We would definitely stay again.
Robert
A delightful little period cottage with a modern twist. The hot tub is not to be missed, especially after a long days walking. There is no designated parking space, but there is lots of free on street parking close by. The cottage is situated just on the outskirts of Chester, but within an easy 15 minute level walk, along the canal right into the city centre. There are lots of transport links to Liverpool, and the north Welsh coast. You will also be spoiled for choice with regards to cafes, pubs and restaurants. Regards, Robert and Elizabeth. April 2024.
Hi just had three wonderful days staying at elv cottage in Chester the property ... Hi just had three wonderful days staying at elv cottage in Chester the property was gorgeous and had everything you needed for a romantic getaway spotless clean and some lovely touches Flowers and bubbles were a nice touch Could not fault the property or the location Would definitely rebook this cottage and would highly recommend Communication with Gaynor the owner was quick simple and excellent Thank you once again Regards Jamie & Paula
We had a lovely few days at the cottage. It was very comfortable and cosy. We'll be back very soon .
Awesome cottage, everything we wanted, and Gaynor was amazing, had stays in previous places were we just payed and stayed. But with Elv cottage gaynor was always in contact, before our stay, during our stay giving local stuff we could do during our stay and after our stay was over. Would definetley stay again.
Were so grateful to Gaynor for accepting our booking as such short notice. We had a lovely week, Gaynor was attentive but not obtrusive and it was great to meet her when we were leaving. Elv Cottage is lovely, very clean, and well equipped. It has a very comfy bed and a super shower. We loved the mix of period features with the new. And big thanks to Gaynor for the Prosecco and roses, what a thoughtful generous touch!
Lovely little cottage, very comfortable and clean. Would love to know more about the history. Bit surprised at first that it was on such a busy road but soon got used to the traffic. We were also a bit disappointed that the walk to the town was along a main noisy road but then found, at the top of our road, the tow path along the canal which runs parallel to the main road and that was great. Peaceful with easy access to everywhere we wanted to go town, walls, bus station, cafes along the waterside where you can sit and watch the barges and the world go by in peace without the noise of traffic. The holiday ticked all our boxes thank you.

What a great home from home. We spent a week at elv cottage and had a great stay. It was the cleanest, homeliest place we've ever stayed. The hot tub is lovely after a day exploring Chester. A 15min walk takes you into the city with its amazing history.
We had a wonderful stay at this charming cottage. Gaynor was extremely friendly and informative. The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed from the amazing modern kitchen to the most comfy bed. The hot tub in the secluded garden was the end to every perfect day. Parking wasn't a problem as there is plenty of on street parking. Elv cottage is well located just a 15 minute walk into Chester centre. There's also a lovely pub a few minutes walk up the road with the most amazing views of the river. We will definitely be back.
We stayed in the lovely Elv cottage at the beginning of August. This is a lovely little cottage in Chester. Elv cottage is very well presented, very clean and well stocked with everything you need for a comfortable week away. The hot tub is an added bonus. Gaynor was extremely helpful, gave very good instructions on hot tub use and kept us informed when cottage was ready for our stay. Chester town centre is an easy walk away where there is lots to see and do. Train to Liverpool is cheap and run frequently, so worth a day trip. If we are back in Chester, I would certainly look to stay at Elv cottage.
We had an amazing two weeks at Elv cottage. The cottage is even better than the photos and the attention to detail and little touches made our stay. Beautifully decorated, very comfortable and so well thought out. The jacuzzi is fab! I think it's the cleanest place we've ever stayed and Gaynor was so helpful. The cottage has really good local transport links near by if you don't have a car. Perfect romantic getaway and we hope to be back! Thank you!

Lovely self catering base handy for Chester centre and also surrounding attractions. The bed was so comfortable, and facilities excellent, including a hot tub very much appreciated. We enjoyed our stay, would go back again and would recommend.
This cottage is truly wonderful. Gaynor, the host has thought of everything to ensure it is a home from home. Beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, immaculatly clean and has a hot tub. It is just 15 minutes walk into gorgeous Chester and the cottage is across the road from the picturesque River Dee. There is a lovely pub with outstanding views a couple of minutes walk from the cottage. Gaynor was responsive when we had a couple of queries and didn't make me feel a nuisance. If you are thinking of booking, do it, you'll have the best time.

We spent 3 nights in April and had a lovely mini break. The centre of Chester is an easy 1520 minute stroll and is well worth a good look. The cottage is spotlessly clean and very well kitted out. The standard of kitchen appliances and equipment is very high too. Hot tub was a lovely luxurious treat and I didn't worry about hygiene which was a plus as it is obviously immaculate. All in all a lovely spot for a romantic break for 2. Would recommend.
Rachel
Fantastic cottage. Perfect base for shopping and exploring in Chester. Everything within walking distance. Hot tub is a real luxury.

Beautiful cottage very well presented. Kitchen has everything you could possibly need. Highly recommend
Gaynor is such a fantastic host, so helpful and gave us a great restaurant recommendation. It was so lovely to be welcomed with a bottle of Prosecco and all the fresh flowers around the house. Gaynor really does think of everything! The cottage is immaculately clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need, really lovely comfy bed and the hot tub was amazing in a really charming private garden which is a real sun trap. The cottage is in a fantastic location, a minute walk to the river and 20 minutes walk to the city and grosvenor park, couldnt ask for a better location. Its also only a 10 minute drive to Chester zoo so really convenient for a day out seeing the animals! Only regret we have is not staying for longer but we will definitely be back to make up for it!
Great place in great location. Great host. We had all the necessary information few days before. Cottage was ready a few hours earlier. Which was ideal. The Cottage was spotless on arrival. Located right next to the river and only a 10 15 minutes from the city centre. the kitchen in the cottage has everything you could need and is well equipped for cooking. Hot tub outside was great and ideal after a full day out. We had a really great stay and will hopefully come back again. Would recommend to anyone.

A beautiful place in great location. The host was great even before we got there. We had all the necessary information few days before. We were told that the place was ready few hours earlier if we needed it. The Cottage was spotless on arrival. Located a minute walk from the river or 15 minutes from the city centre. There is a nice cafe for the breakfast at the top of the road. If you prefer to make your own, the kitchen in the cottage is well equipped for cooking. Hot tub outside was great addition and probably a main selling point. We had a really great stay and will hopefully come back again. Would recommend to anyone.
