Greta Mill Reviews

Adrian
Fantastic property that is well looked after and perfectly situated for Keswick centre. The local parks are an absolute credit to Keswick. Thank you for an excellent stay.
Charlotte
We loved the property! It had everything you could want. My only constructive criticism would be that the pillows are not great and there was a lot of mismatched crockery, cutlery & glassware. The hot tub was great after a long days walking!
Thalia
A very well equipped and comfortable cottage.
Stefanie
We had a lovely time, the house is in a good position, well equipped and comfortable. We would definitely book again.
We had an amazing time in Keswick, staying at Greta Mill. We were surprised how big the property was. It suited our families needs perfectly and each bedroom having an ensuite was great. We only had one issue with the hot tub turning green and this was dealt with within an hour and no problem after. The lounge was a little cramped with 7 of us watching football on TV but we managed. When we return to Keswick we will definitely be booking Greta Mill again.
Really only space to park 2 cars not three. Only seating for 6 in lounge. Apart from that we really love the property and think it is wonderful. 5 minute walk to Keswick centre. Lovely bedrooms, all ensuite. Superb kitchen with plenty of equipment. I could happily live there for the rest of my life.
Felicity
Greta Mill was fabulous, I can highly recommend it. It was very spacious and beautifully decorated and furnished. Bedrooms were amazing, all being ensuite, and there was plenty of room for all 7 of us in the sitting room and kitchen. Loved the hot tub, which got a lot of use by the kids. And it was a brilliant location, being both an easy walk into the town and opposite the lovely Fitz park with quick and easy access to paths up the fells too. It was clean and very comfortable indeed. A wonderful place to stay in Keswick.
This is a lovely property a short walk from the town centre. The two big downstairs rooms are separate from each other so you get a great sense of space. It is an old property and so although fully modernised is a bit quirky. I was worried about how close it it is to a busy road but that was not a problem and the closeness to the park and the river was perfect.
Lovely property in a great location for town, walks and ample parking for 3 cars. Couldn't fault!
Heather
Beautiful property. A free minor issues with hot tub and DVD player but quickly resolved. Great sup port and service.
Great place to stay. Clean and comfortable. The only thing I would say is that for 8 people there isn't quite enough comfy seating in the lounge area, which could be rectified by moving things around slightly. Other than this would recommend and go again.
Great property located in centre of Keswick. Will look to book again
Great location and very clean and wellmaintained
Good location, though not clear from the advert that it is on a main road. Good sized rooms, though not enough comfy seating in the living room for more than six people. Bath taps did not work properly making it impossible to use. The fixtures and fittings of the accommodation area are dated. Garden area is more of a yard and overlooked.
The cottage is lovely, however needs some attention some of the heated towel rails dont work, one toilet has a small leak, another toilet just keeps running once flushed. Sofas in lounge are not very comfortable to sit in. Hot tub pumps randomly come on during the night and can be heard in the bedrooms. I would definitely stay again, the cottage is in an amazing location it just needs a little bit of attention. We enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful home in a perfect location

Comfortable cottage in central location with much appreciated parking. Well equipped with comfy beds and good showers. Meets all the needs of a walking holiday and hot tub nice to help aching muscles. Could use a bit of maintenance eg bits of peeling wallpaper and poorly fitting curtains.
Denise
Greta Mill was lovely and perfect for us. All the facilities we needed as a group of four couples. Thank you.
Angela
What a beautiful cottage in a perfect location. We got a lovely welcome pack one of the best we ever had and it was so great being so close to Keswick centre . We did have a problem with a toilet and the owner and Sykes sorted it out so promptly. The staff at Sykes are so helpful especially Amy which is why I use this company on a regular basis . We loved the cottage so much we booked again BEFORE we left
The hot tub was not hot. So we could not use it We reported it to Sykes representative in Keswick office She contacted The owner who said we wouldnt come over because he had guests so he asked the lady called Sharon to try and sort it . She couldnt. She also confirmed it was not hot The owner made a visit the next day but did not fix it That was the last we heard from either the owner or Sykes We only went in the tub once . We paid a lot of Money to have a hot tub over Xmas and we never had use of one I believe we are due some money back
Adrian
Greta Mill was clean, warm and well looked after with comfortable furniture and fittings. The space was adequate for eight adults, with enough crockery and cutlery. The spacious dining table was a bonus. The lounge and bedrooms were all comfortable, although the twin room was a bit tight. The showers were good with on tap hot water at all times. The kitchen was well equipped, with enough equipment to enable us to cook meals several times. The location is excellent, we didnt use the cars all week and ample parking on site and free on road parking meant this was easy for all. Great base to explore Keswick and surrounding areas with walking and bus routes on the doorstep. Niggles about the house were too minor to give feedback on, and are about personal preference, none of which spoiled the time we were in the house. In fact, we would book again. Not a complaint, but the owner may like to know that the guttering at the rear of the house above the dining room windows, leaks significantly when raining.
Had a great week in Greta Mill. The house suited our family of 6 adults and one dog, plenty of space, well equipped kitchen and ensuites with all the bedrooms. We enjoyed the hot tub, even in the rain. It was great being able to walk into Keswick for shops, restaurants, theatre and pubs, also walking to Derwentwater and catching the launch to walk along the lake to Grange.
Sophie
This is a brilliant property in an excellent location. So much room for a family of 5 adults. Hot tub was lovely, got colder at times but we did use it a lot. Beds were very comfy. The one at the back of the property could do with an upgrade as its squeaky but overall great. Would stay again.
Alison
The house was clean and had everything we needed. It is a great central location for a mixed age family gathering.
Provided us with a great family break, very comfortable and spacious accommodation, with all amenities clean and modern.
Rebecca
Fantastic and very comfortable house in a perfect location to explore Keswick and the Lake District. Lovely little welcome package and very good value for money. I would highly recommend xx
The double beds in the two main bedrooms were not comfortable and really should be replaced as back problems were pretty bad by mid week.
Natalie
We had a great stay at Greta Mill, it was perfect for a family getaway. Plenty space and so convenient to have a ensuite bathroom in each room. We loved the location and the added benefit of a hot tub! Would definitely stay again. Only small criticism us that one of the neighbours complained about us using the hot tub before the cut off time of 10.30 pm. Otherwise it was a perfect stay.
Greta Mill was a lovely place to stay it had plenty of room for the six adults two children & two dogs & each room having an ensuite was an added bonus , the house was very well equipped with plenty of everything , the only thing extra we could have been doing with as we all like to cook was a small food processor & a pestal & mortar but we improvised and made do . Greta Mill sits in an ideal position being close to the park , shops, the Lake & mountain walks , overall we were delighted & had a wonderful week spent with our family & would definitely book again . Thanks
4th visit, says it all really. Feels like coming home. Love staying at this house, just sad that, due to Covid restrictions, some of our family couldnt be there!
Kieran
The only thing we would mention was that we were told a high hair and travel cot would be readily available. Upon arrival, we couldnt find either. After a phone call to the office, we came to realise that the travel cot was in a wardrobe in a different room than we were told this wasnt really too much of a problem. However, in order to locate the high chair we had to unlock the cleaners cupboard door upstairs, locate a key which unlocked a door downstairs to a cupboard with the high chair in felt a little bit like Crystal Maze. However, overall, we had a very pleasant stay. The hot tub was a wonderful added extra and really made the holiday for us, after long days of walking, a relaxing time in the hot tub was well needed. The property was a 5 minute walk to the town centre which was perfect we saved so much money on parking. The property itself was wonderful, very spacious, very homely. The beds were comfortable, the ensuites were great and the family bathroom was lovely. Everywhere was very very clean. This property would be the kind of property we would be looking for when and if we move to the Lakes. Would 100 recommend the property and would definitely stay here again. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! 5 stars!!!
Previous feedback on the site mentioned the front bedroom was subject noise from the busy main road and people walking home after a night out. This was noticeable on our first night Saturday but it wasn't every night. And that room was across the road from the river and park so beautiful views and nice early morning walks. It would be simple enough to put some secondary double glazing on those windows though it wouldn't stop us going back in the future.
Alexander
Road noise is a problem for people in front bedroom,if you like to sleep late in the morning I advise you to take some ear plugs with you. Parking for 3 cars is a bit optimistic unless they are small cars. Other than that its a fabulous place and we will surely be back.
Debbie
We loved this cottage so much we came back for the second time this year and intend to again, will definitely visit more Sykes places too.
Extractor in the kitchen didnt seem able to deal with busy cooking the alarms were activated a couple of times. Maybe an extra key or a key safe would be ideal several groups coming & going at different times. Its a very lovely house & these are relatively trivial things. It is a super house in a great location.
Angela
Superb location. Brilliant for families to share accommodation with the four double bedrooms
Samantha
Generally a lovely house, very comfortable and ideally located a few minutes walk from the center of town. Great location for dogowners as it is right opposite Fitz Park. However the owners could do with addressing a couple of points. No adequate drying facilities for clean laundry, only a boot room for drying waterproofs etc. We had to go to the local laundrette for this. Maybe a retractable washing line in the yard or exchange washing machine for a washerdryer? Crockery needs checking over, quite a few cracked plates mostly large green ones. Small issue with towel rails not working, but office were notified. Hot tub lovely but has a tendency to turn on during the night on its own!! Very strange!! There was also no plug in the family bathroom hand sink, not sure why??
The house worked really well, being four en suite rooms with the additional family bathroom. This is the comfiest house we've ever stayed in in Keswick. we really appreciated the owners' efforts to make it so nice. I would have liked more plates and glasses which were matching. The crockery and dishes to cook with or serve up food were the weakest parts of the accommodation experience 0 I actually headed off to a charity shop to buy a milk jug of decent size and left it behind for the next folks.. We loved the tasteful patio where we could eat out this year an uncommon experience for us in Keswick!! and we enjoyed the hot tub. We'd love to book Greta Mill again but we see it's already booked for 2019, so maybe 2020! Well done everyone for making our stay so enjoyable including Sykes Cottages.

Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 6 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 8 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 12 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 21 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 29 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
