First class accommodation. With lovely quite surroundings. Loved the Hot Tub, family in it every day no matter what the weather was doing. As a family we look forward to staying at Silly Knott again.

Just returned from the idyllic setting at Otter Tarn. We stayed in the Silly Knott lodge, which was very luxurious with thoughtful touches throughout. The service from Kath and her team were fantastic and we couldnt of wished for a better place to stay. We definitely recommend this jewel in the Lake District.

We had an absolutely fantastic week in Silly Knott at Otter Tarn, our lodge was beautiful and all amenities were of the highest standard. It was immaculate in every sense, with every thought taken to ensure comfort. It's a hidden gem with its own Tarn and lovely grounds you can spend the day walking in, truly amazing. The welcome bonus of the hot tub after an exhilarating day walking was great. It was so nice to go to an area in the lakes thats not as touristy and busy as some areas and has more natural surroundings, couldn't have been better and we have been to the lakes many times. Kath was a great host and nothing was too much trouble, all in all a wonderful stay!

Really nice property will be staying again. Ive stayed in plenty of lodgeslog cabins and this is by far my favourite.

Excellent, first class accommodation set in a tranquil and beautiful area, very accessible for the southern lakes. We will definitely return.

The house was lovely. Very stylish and comfortable. Great attention to detail although the very slippery shower trays could do with mats. However I never leave that to chance and had taken one for my elderly mother.

Outstanding property, real luxury in every way. The grounds, the hot tub, the walks round the fishing lake and the log burning stove, A perfect peaceful retreat yet just a short drive from lake Windermere and all the facilities. We will return for sure.

The cottage one of 6 on site was modern, well equipped and comfortable, plenty of space in and around in a beautiful setting.

The hosts were lovely and made us feel very welcome. We had a fantastic week in silly knot and recommend it to anyone else looking for luxury in the lakes

Upon arrival we were greeted by Kath, the owner, who showed us around the exquisite property. The most wellequipped, luxurious kitchen we have ever seen. The walks around the lodge were so beautiful and the hot tub was so perfect after a muddy hike. Kath was easily contactable and completely unobtrusive on our holiday. The views were spectacular and even though there are other lodges, you feel completely private and it is very peaceful.

South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU

about 9 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals. Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area. Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos. At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed. Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH

about 9 Miles

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction. With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun. You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes. Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money. There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ

about 12 Miles

Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU

about 14 Miles

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.

Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US

about 21 Miles

This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years. There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk. For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families. Corporate groups are also well catered for.

Bowland Wild Boar Park - PR3 2QT

about 28 Miles

Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed. A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family. From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out. Also popular is the kids tractor play area. For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station. The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
