We've just come back from a great weekend at Old Beams Cottage. Every year we go away as a group of old friends to the Peak District and we've stayed in a number of cottages but this was one of our favourites. Absolutely lovely time spent at The Old Beams. We are local to the village and have been waiting for the right time to stay here and the property is even more beautiful on the inside! Owners were lovely and responded positively to comments made. We were bowled over by the generosity of the welcome gifts - thank you very much! Alton Towers a big hit. Peak Wildlife Park excellent for younger ones. Great place for walks and cycle rides. The enormous conservatory was a real blessing and much enjoyed.

What a lovely place, a charming house but with all mod cons you might need. We stayed for a family reunion, the youngest being 14 months, the oldest 70, and the house catered for everybody. Hot tub, barbecue and pizza oven were all great, as were the seating areas around the garden. We enjoyed breakfasts at the benches in the garden and evening meals in the patio area. The conservatory was great at night for family games around the table.
Jacquie
The photos on the website are really good, but it's not until you enter the property that you get a real feel for the place. It's a beautiful house, but also comfortable with a real homely feel. We were a family party of three generations (plus a dog) and every one of us loved our week and were sad to leave. The owners were extremely hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. I could not recommend this highly enough.
Robin
A very well equipped, clean comfortable and spacious place to stay. Highly recommended ! Narrow staircases could be a problem for those with mobility problems
Gillian
We had an amazing golden wedding and birthday celebration. A selection of friends and family either stayed overnight or visited on different days. 1 friend took her first holiday in 5 years due to ill health and was relaxed and happy. There was enough room to spread out, but plenty of opportunities for chat and reminiscing .also plenty of local pla ces to visit. Thank you Jonathan and Gillian for a holiday packed with happy memories.

Old Beams is a lovely old well equipped house with a delightful secure garden. Lots of space inside and out for large groups to not feel on top of each other. Hot tub and pizza oven went down very well with younger members of the party. A great welcome from the thoughtful and caring owners who provided lots of advice and recommendations. The house is located on the southern edge of the National Park on an A road so a bit of road noise but on the other hand its easy to get to.

Great house, great area

We had such a wonderful time here. The owners were really friendly & welcoming, on hand but not intrusive. Really nice to be shown around and be able to ask questions. Decorated lovely, the beds are really comfortable & the kitchen is more equipped than some homes! Everything is high quality, with plenty of crockery & glasses. Its a good base for t he manifold trail & lots of walks within a short drive too. Recommend The Star at Cotton and Hettys Tea rooms. Would love to stay again.

Gill & Jonathan were very welcoming, the 2 bottles of Prosecco & home made cake went down a treat. The property was beautiful, clean, well stocked & the location was perfect. The garden was an absolute joy to spend time in - which I did! The addition of the hot tub was also a bonus, very enjoyable. A perfect place for a large group to spend some qu ality time together. Alton towers was very close, the teenagers loved it. Plenty to do & see here. Highly recommended.

Overall a great house for our party of 14 and dogs. The hot tub and pizza oven were a great touch...and well used! Parking for all our cars was also great. The welcoming cake, fizzy and flowers were also a great touch. Thankyou for a super week

Hosts very welcoming and efficient - we received homemade cake and bottles of bubbly, been shown the property and all its quirks. Building is beautiful with generous inside and outside spaces. Charmin rooms, very comfortable beds with feather filled duvets and pillows. Well equipped kitchen included everything we needed. Conservatory area with mass ive wooden table. Pizza oven kept in very good working condition. One of the best hot tubs!highly recommended for family and friends "home-from-home"
CHRISTINE
A family group of eleven of us stayed here - ranging in ages from 27 to 72. Gill and Jonathan were the most helpful hosts. This place is amazing - very quirky, but with so much living space and excellent bedrooms. On several days we walked directly from the property - there are so many routes to choose from. The hot tub was well-used, particularly after strenuous walking. We also enjoyed the pizza oven ... and the log fire for chilly evenings. There is lots to do in the local area.

This property really accommodated our group of 6 couples, all rooms are ensuite. Lots of space, with a fantastic log burner in the dual lounge. The outside area is really good too, including lawned garden, patio and hot tub area.

The house was absolutely perfect for our group of 12 ranging from 4 to 49 (plus dog)! The friendly, helpful hosts met us there and showed us around. The house was fully equipped and beautifully presented. We stayed at New Year and it was still decorated for Christmas which added to the charm. We had a fabulous time and would definitely recommend Ol d Beams.
Claire
Beautiful large cottage ideal for a celebration. Extremely well equipped and owners very helpful and approachable. We were welcomed with a cake and Prosecco, a fantastic way to start our stay. The location is beautiful with lots of walks near by. The local pubs arent the best for food but we didnt venture more than 1 mile.
