A beautiful little lodge in a beautiful location. We could not have asked for more. The lodge was immaculately clean with high quality accessories such as towels and bedding. The lovely little touches of wine and cookies on arrival gave a very warm welcome. A lovely relaxing break which was very much needed.

I have been put off going somewhere with a wood fired hot tub forever though. We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look". Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project. The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish! Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...

South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU

about 29 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals. Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area. Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos. At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed. Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
