The Roe In The Vale Reviews

Laura
The location was absolutely breath-taking! The accommodation was well equipped, clean and cosy...just perfect for our weekend away! Our host was able to point us in the direction of a lovely pub for either just a coffee or meals in the local village. She was very knowledgeable of local walks straight from the accommodation! If we needed anything shRead moree would immediately message me back and was very friendly. There were some really lovely touch's waiting at the accommodation on arrival! Amazing stay Hide

A beautiful little lodge in a beautiful location. We could not have asked for more. The lodge was immaculately clean with high quality accessories such as towels and bedding. The lovely little touches of wine and cookies on arrival gave a very warm welcome. A lovely relaxing break which was very much needed.
Carly
The cottage was lovely. Nicely decorated and clean. It had all the utensils etc you need. The bed was comfortable and it was warm enough by the second night. I have been put off going somewhere with a wood fired hot tub forever though. It looks lovely and it was lovely to sit in only after 5 hours of having to reload logs and stir the water in minuRead mores degrees every 20 minutes. I would recommend it to a friend but would warn about the hot tub difficulties. Hide

I would absolutely recommend this cottage. It was clean and extremely well presented. The hosts were very helpful and provided extras including tea / coffee / cookies / Prosecco. The view was amazing, the location was quiet and there was a real sense of privacy for your own cabin.

Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 7 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 8 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 11 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 22 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 29 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
