Lake View Reviews

Lovely apartment with stunning views ideally situated within easy travelling for Bowness and Windermere
Excellent location and added bonus of direct access to the lake from your own jetty.

After seeing the reviews, I was really looking forward to staying at Lake View with my mum for a little break away. The views are amazing from the property and you're provided with everything you could need to cook and prepare meals. The hot tub was the highlight for us, it felt really clean and was lovely to get into every night. However, both my mum and I felt the place lacked warmth. The place was very clean but equally felt a bit clinical. I suppose this does come down to personal preference but it would have been nice to have some pictures on the walls, cosier dining chairs and more colour around the place. The bathroom is a wet room and is mostly black with no window and the bedding was all white along with the walls. The sofa was low down which we didn't mind but it is marked and a bit tired looking. Considering what you're paying, it's not amazing! Collecting the key and dropping it off at the office at the end of our stay too was a bit inconvenient and a surprise as we'd never done a Sykes booking before. I feel a keysafe at the property would be much better, although again, that is personal preference. Another downside is, currently, another holiday home is being built very near, off to the left from the property. Its a building site with noise and machinery over the hillside above what they're building! We weren't warned of this and it just wasn't nice to have that going on, on the weekdays, during our stay. Parking is good but the multiple key fobs for gates was a faff. When we first arrived, we drove down the hill to the bottom, missing the fact Lake View was at the top of the hill. The hill is very steep and it was tricky turning round as the road isn't wide enough for 2 cars. It would be good if it was noted on the booking how far down the hill your holiday home is. I imagine it would be tricky to find in the dark. The views are great as well as having the hot tub but we wouldn't go back to Lake View. The hot tub is great but it's different to the one pictured and when you're sat in the hot tub or on the terrace chairs, you can't see the lake due to a wall blocking the view! In hindsight we realise we booked the wrong thing. We wished we had booked a bb further into the countryside but that is our mistake. I realise it's clear online the place isn't colourful and it's very white etc but it does look great online! It just FEELS like a cold environment when you're there. Also, I presume this is normal when you do an AirBnB or holiday home stay ? but we had to strip the bed upon leaving and put all laundry in a bag and clear our rubbish. This was unexpected and fustrating considering the stay cost 800 for 4 nights. The place just doesn't feel welcoming. You're also threatened with a 250 charge to your payment method if you don't leave the place spotless. Consequently this was often in the back of my mind at a time you want to relax. I suppose we were naive to thing the property was on its own, nestled away somewhere but it actually backs onto a main road and is part of a big complex of holiday homes which all look the same in style grey and are fairly close together. Life jackets are provided which is great and kayaks were available to use but be aware they're big! We just couldn't lift them down the big steps into the water but I suppose that's down to personal strength. It's not clearly written down or photographed, where they're situated either. If you're looking for a clean, open plan, modcon filled space then this is the place for you but if you want somewhere private, with no fuss and a warm, cosy environment, I wouldn't book Lake View. I realise some of my criticisms are about personal preference but I think other things I've mentioned would be an issue for most people! A shame it wasn't what we were hoping it would be.

What an amazing place. So beautiful. We couldn't believe the high tech equipment, heated driveway in the winter, stunning views whilst soaking in the hot tub. They even sort your recycling. The list is endless. Staff were so friendly and professional. We will definitely be back.

Abeautifully prepared accommodation.
This is a beautiful apartment. High standard of fixtures and fittings. For comfort it just comes down to taste. The sofa was to low for my husband and I. Thats due to medical conditions but otherwise everything was perfect. The hot tub was the icing on the cake and the view from the balcony and the main window is just stunning. The little touches of bathroom products and coffee pods was very welcomed. Katrina was on hand for anything we needed, over all a wonderful holiday.
We absolutely loved staying here. We will definitely stay again. It was lovely and clean, had everything we needed and more. It was in a great location and the views were just stunning. The hot tub was a blessing after climbing scafell pike. It also comes with life jackets and kayaks which was amazing as we could use them whenever we liked. We actually got engaged here so it will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Forth time visiting this beautiful place. We usual stay at lower lake view, this year we stayed above at lake view. The views from upstairs are truly beautiful! Such a treat to wake up to every morning. The hot tub & seating area is perfect for peaceful evenings & early mornings brew as you take in the amazing views. We shall return, as always.
Honestly, the pictures don't do it justice, everything is stunning. The apartment, the views everything was stunning, even in February when the weather wasn't the best, I can only imagine how much better the views would be in springsummer Brilliant facilities all easy to use and manuals in welcome packs if you ain't sure how to use something. Not to far away from shopspubsattractions so you feel secluded enough for privacy but not too far away from anywhere you might want to visit My only downsides I can say and they're not really make or break things the bed and pillows was more on the softer side, which is okay I personally just prefer a firmer bed. The couch is a little low to the floor, but again, not a huge problem, unless you struggle with mobility I LOVE how the main rooms lights are all separate so you can just light the areas of the room you are using, but I often found myself switching lights off and on to get the lights onoff in the right areas so my only suggestion is to label each switch accordingly. This wasn't a problem, I think it would be a nice quality of life change for ease of use I stayed for 4 nights and never got my head around each switch. And you definitely need to be careful with your head as the roof is rather low and taller people will definitely bang your head if you're not careful. All that being said, I have already recommended this stay to friends and I will definitely be booking again around summer to see how much more beautiful it can be without rain
The only improvement would be for some form of covering for the hot tub
Excellent place loved it , life jackets were a mystery as no indication on what they were for
Unbelievable! The listing didnt do the property justice.the views from the lounge were far better than the pictures, everything was top quality. Beautiful location, easy to get taxis, great foodie location. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We also noticed that if anyone put a comment on improvement it had been implemented! Would recommend to anyone!

We enjoyed an amazing holiday at Lake View. It is a spectacular location with beautiful lake views. The accommodation was first class, everything was of a very high standard and perfectly maintained. Having its own waterfront with kayaks provided was a bonus in our minds. The hot tub was lovely to enjoy in the cool evenings. Wow ... this was a first class holiday.
Beautiful apartment with stunning views. Excellent facilities. Fabulous!
We had a wonderful honeymoon at Lake View! The apartment was spotless, beautifully presented and in the perfect location. It had all the mod cons you need from a selfcatering holiday, and everything was furnished to such a high standard. The kayaks were a lovely touch and the hot tub was a welcome luxury after walking in the lakes, especially after Scafell! Having my morning coffee with a view over Windermere was just idyllic, I wish we could go back! Thank you. The only things that would have improved our comfort was having control of the temperature of the apartment, it was quite warm and the thermostat was set at 21 and we couldnt lower it ourselves. The bedding was hot and the pillows really soft, so I ended up sleeping under the throw instead. A lighter duvet and some spare pillows that guests could pick from would make all the difference. The housekeeper was lovely and did what she could to help. All in all, a remarkable place to stay!
Publish Super property would recommend 100. Dont publish for owner only One small issue for us, that we were unable to regulate the temp in the bedroom, so sleeping was tricky as a little too warm. Perhaps the option of a thinner quilt ???? Would not stop us returning tho .
Nicola
Beautiful setting, comfortable luxurious property. Perfect position for walking around Coniston and surrounding areas. Quiet location. Thank you. We would definitely return.
Lauren
Lovely modern property with a gorgeous view! Hot tub and kayak were fab also. Definitely recommend
Excellent property would stay again!
Catrina was great, thank you
Easy terms for booking ,great helpful and friendly staff , from start to finish. Stunning property, great location, will definitely book again . A big thank you to staff for wife's birthday present
Some dinner mats would have been useful so as not to mark the table.
Stephen
Re kayak and terrace by the lake Is this actually part of the experience? As the lake was basically blocked off from use by 6 boats and approx 25 guests from the big house at the bottom Also apparently the chairs to sit by the lake removed by midweek!! Not very welcoming Im sure you agree
One of the best places we have ever stayed at, me and the wife had a fantastic stay. The views are amazing and we sat on the jetty every night to see the sun set across the lake. The terrace area was awesome and the use of kayaks was an extra bonus. Thank you, we will be back.
Kristy
We stayed for our 10 year Wedding anniversary. Absolutely stunning view, accommodation was immaculate and very well equipped kitchen. Hot tub was devine and kayak was an added bonus. A lovely place to relax after visiting the beautiful lakes and forests.
Our expectations were exceeded with Lake View. Its stunning. The view from the windows of the lake is beautiful. The apartment was immaculate with everything we required, from a Quooker hot tap to a tablet providing music apps for the room speaker. The bed was so comfortable and the jacuzzi was great after a days walk. Private parking was lovely and the canoe and table and chairs down near the water was a massive bonus. Will be back again!!
Richard Matthew
Celebrated our honeymoon here for 5 nights Amazing views from the property, the stay was perfect! Only one criticism, maybe have clear signs for which hot tub belongs to which cottage, as we found our neighbours in ours. But otherwise perfect
Kathryn
We had the most amazing week for our honeymoon. Everything was fantastic and we didn't want to leave. The location was amazing with a bonus of having a kayak to use on the lake. Having a hottub just outside the door was so convenient. The views from the picture window were amazing to take in while having a morning coffee we loved the coffee machine so much we bought on when we got home. It was so peaceful and even though there are properties around we still felt secluded. We will definitely visit again and if anyone can't decide.... book you won't regret it! Thank you so much x
Maybe use of a microwave and the bathroom fan didnt work during our stay ... Maybe use of a microwave and the bathroom fan didnt work during our stay appreciated all the high end products we had an amazing stay great weather meant the hot tub used regularly great asset to the apartment
Lake View was everything we could have hoped for. Modern, uncluttered and finished to a very specification it made our stay easy and relaxing. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a well equipped stay at The Lakes.
Kirsty
Second stay at Lake View and we love it, the views are amazing and the apartment is beautiful. The only thing I would say is that it could do with some lights or something on the gate as its really difficult to find at night time especially if the weather is bad.
Our stay at lake view was fantastic. Everything was as it said would be.marvelous views of the lake and the lodge was first class.the private hot tub was brilliant and very private..cant review it highly enough.brilliant..when the recent storm knocked the power off the staff were so helpful and quick to respond..

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 8 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 11 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 14 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 14 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 17 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 27 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
