This is an absolutely beautiful house, lovely decor and spotlessly clean. The views are fantastic - even when its stormy out! First time in Devon and really loved Appledore and Instow. Plenty of great seafood to be had locally too. Fairways is a great place for a family, living area with the views is fab. 2 min drive down to quayside or 10 min walk but steep walk back up. Only negative was lack of furniture to hang clothes but hopefully this might get rectified. Would def initely recommend. Owner Ian very pleasant to deal with by phone too. We drove a long way from York to get here but it was well worth it.

We were a party of four adults, a three year old, a 14 year old and a Golden Retriever. The property was lovely. Spotlessly clean and beautifully presented. The open plan living area was the perfect socialising space with wonderful views over the estuary. The cottage is very dog friendly and throws are provided to put on the sofas if you have a poo ch who is used to sitting on the sofa. The cinema room and hot tub are fabulous. Just a few things to suggest To take with you - bathrobes & slippers , tea bags , milk , bread, eggs, butter & marmalade for following morning breakfast . Amazing property for a short getaway with adult family. The social space is excellent with amazing views and we spent most of the three days in here. Great to have the hot tub as well. Cinema room was nice to have if we wanted somewhere quieter to sit - our kids would love this so we hope to bring them with us next time! The property was very clean and tidy and we had everything we needed. The scones, cream and jam left for us by the owners was a lovely extra too!

The main room with panoramic window had a luxury feel and made me feel like I was "on holiday". Comfortable beds and plenty of hot water were a plus as were curtains/blinds that actually cut out the light. A couple more sun loungers for the garden would have been nice. And more bin liners/bags would have been helpful. Towels on arrival all had a na sty damp smell so we washed them all again. But overall, we were very impressed with the property.

Beautiful property on the outskirts of Appledore, worked very well for a party of 8 adults on a family break. Main Reception room/kitchen/diner is a fantastic sociable space and plenty of room not to feel on top of one another. Easy 15 minute walk downhill into the village, and after a glass of wine, the walk back up the hill never seemed too bad!

Beautiful property, very comfortable and well equipped. The spacious open plan nature of the living area is great for families to come together as nobody is stuck in the kitchen while others may be relaxing and there is plenty of room for various activities. The only thing that may be a problem is that little children may need to be supervised in t he garden as there is a vertical drop from the lawn to the patio area.

We took a long time to find a house that suited a multi-generational family in a good location. This definitely fitted the bill and Ian the owner was very helpful and friendly. Together with the extensive welcome pack and well equipped home (lovely hot tub) we had a great few days despite the weather. It is only a 10 mins walk into Appledore which is a lovely village (probably 15 mins on way back due to the steep hill) with coffee shops, pubs & delicatessen. I would definitely stay here again!

We spent a fabulous 6 days here, travelling as two families. The cottage is modern, really spacious, and warm, and had everything we needed. The hot tub was amazing and our hosts were really quick to respond if we had any questions. Location is fantastic too - we could easily walk to Appledore Quay which had a nice array of shops and pubs, and with a car you can get to loads of fabulous beaches and great coastal walks. We would definitely recommend this one and would love to go back one day.

We loved being able to walk from the cottage across the flats, say hi to the ponies and on to the wide open beach. Only a short drive for those not able/willing to walk. Appledore has character and great history. Property very comfortable and the big open living area is perfect for a big group to socialise in whilst cooking, eating, playing or watc hing tv. The jacuzzi was lovely to relax in and playing table tennis was an added bonus.

There are many exotic and rare animals as well as birds to see which are living in natural surroundings. Some recent improvements at the zoo include a new 5 metre tower at the cheetahs and raised walkways at the "beast". There is also a new viewing platform over the sitatunga. As well as the amazing animals to experience there are regular fun activities such as face painting, daily events and zoo trails.

Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park is a big hit with families and has a wonderful setting within 26 acres of Sub Tropical grounds. During a stroll around the site you will encounter so of the worlds most endangered animals and also take a peek back to prehistoric times when Dinosaurs roamed the earth. The park is home to the worlds only full size animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex as well as Lions, Wolves, Sea Lions, Meerkats and many other species, Top attractions include the amazing Sea Lion Shows, Falconry Display and Sea Lion Swims.
