Just amazing! !! Perfect place, relaxing and comfortable. Host was lovely! Will definitely be returning
A gorgeous property situated 5 miles from Scarborough. The welcome basket was very thoughtful and the hot tub was a lovely addition. Would highly recommend.
Everything about this property was perfect. We had the most amazing stay, thank you very much!
An amazing cottage with beautiful decor. So peaceful and relaxing with the added bonus of a Hot Tub. Owner Paul was a brilliant host, so friendly and helpful in every way. Highly recommend Wagtail Nest.

We were booked in to Wagtail Cottage. Unfortunately the boiler had broken so Paul the landlord moved us the The Nook. The Nook was beautiful and we were left a welcome pack full of goodies, which was beautiful and very kind. I would definitely recommend Paul and The Nook again and hope to book again this year 2024. Regards Bev & Tom
Well maintained with home from home comfort with all essentials supplied welcome pack was much appreciated hot is brilliant . . booked again for early next year

What a true gem this little cottage is. Beautifully situated with far reaching views it images an ideal base for touring the North Yorks coastline. It is well equipped and very warm with every creature comfort including the most comfortable hot tub I have ever had the pleasure of using. We would most definitely recommend the cottage and will be booking again.
Fantastic property. Around a 15 minute drive to Scarborough. Couldn't have felt more homely. Great little touches on arrival. Owners were great and could not do enough to help you. Would definitely visit again
Natalie
We had a wonderful week, this is a lovely property, fully equipped and easy to get to places
Great Cottage handy for exploring area. Lovely Treats. Paul helpful.

A well kept cottage in a superb location for visiting the North East Coast. Some aspects of the cottage might benefit from a little tlc. For example the lid of the hot tub does not have a framework so is very difficult to take off and put back on. Also not all of the jets were working properly at first as one of the control valves appeared to be stuck although we did get it free. Suggest the tub is checked each week. Also there were lots of cobwebs in the lounge and bedroom. We appreciate that there will be some activity at this time of year but once we had got rid of what we could see, they didn't come back. The kitchen was well equipped unless you wanted to cook a 3 course dinner.

Everything was excellentthe only a couple of niggles we have was there we missed an arm chair as my partner had to sit on a dining chair due to the settee been low and soft as my partner suffers with back problems. Also finding the cottage with the post code took us to the farm further down the roadthis is quite stressful after a journey with a dog. Needs to have a sign on the gate or something noticable for future guests. Overall we had an excellent and relaxing timegreat cottage and countryside for dog walksthe paddock is ideal for walking the dog early morning or late at night. Facilities are good and the bed comfortable. Paul was very friendly and always on the end of the phone. Appreciate the directions into Scarborough from Paulwas a lot easier. Welcome pack very good and the strawberry tarts in the fridgethank you
Excellent location. wife loved the welcome pack. lovely stay
Wagtail Nest was a lovely well presented cottage in the perfect location for country walks or seaside days out and coastal walks, lots to do and see in the area. A peaceful setting, loved the hot tub and a lovely welcome basket provided for our arrival with treats for us and our dog ted was an added bonus. Theres a field at the back where you can exercise your dog too! Perfect
Excellent in all aspects
Great place to relax and chill out Nice little touches for both us and our 4 legged friend Would highly recommend
Amanda
Just one word WONDERFUL Wagtail's Nest is a little gem. We had everything we needed for a perfect holiday and more.... spotlessly clean, comfortable, very well equipped and lovely dcor. The welcome hamper was an added bonus as was the hot tub, especially after very long walks around this magical part of England. Needless to say we will definitely return!!!!!
Michael
Great little cottage, everything you need is here including the hot tub, to soothe those aches after a day out whether at the beach or walking the many routes nearby. Attached paddock for dog if not venturing out, Paul is on hand for any advice and very knowledgeable about the local area, nice welcome pack including milk snacks and doggie treats. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to our next stay.
We had a lovely stay at Wagtails Nest & would highly recommend the cottage. Arrived to a lovely welcome basket of treats. We didnt meet the host Paul as he was away, but he was lovely to be in touch by phone. Couldnt fault the cottage & in a great location to visit loads of places so many great places not a far drive, either on the coast or the countryside. As we have visited surrounding area before we wanted to be somewhere where we could go without driving & had some fab walks on our doorstep, only complaint was the hills lol!! Nice little local shop up the road, highly recommend the local made cider. Hot tub was bliss after end of long walks. Thanks for a fab break.
Excellent property with great facilities and a great location . A good base to visit the area . Great welcome gift pack on arrival .
Absolute perfection!!
The cottage was amazing, everything you could want on a relaxing break and more. It was exceptionally clean and smelled really fresh, you would never guess there had been any pets there. The welcome pack and milk in the fridge was a lovely touch. A nice big TV with Netflix for cosy nights. There was a surprise in the cupboard under the sink, a brilliant electric ice cube maker, perfect for your gin and tonic! Everything you possibly need in the kitchen for self catering. Gorgeous large bathroom with walk in shower, my husband has mobility issues so maybe a non slip mat for use in the shower, this is just a suggestion and did not detract from our stay. The hot tub with mood lighting was amazing especially on a chilly night, a real treat. Paul the host was very welcoming and on hand if needed (we didn't)). The booking site doesn't mention that there is a quality hairdryer and also iron and ironing board-worth knowing though when you are packing to go. Just the sound of birds, sheep and the occasional tractor absolute bliss. Nice comfy bed and all the fixtures and fittings are very high quality and unique. Lots of places to visit nearby, we visited The Plough for an evening meal, the food was so good. We visited Scarborough and Whitby, lovely days out but parking in both places proved a bit of a challenge. We are looking forward to returning to the cottage and would wholeheartedly recommend you visit.
Beautiful cottage throughout, very friendly host and
We had an amazing time, it was everything and more than we expected. The cottage was incredibly clean and smelled reaaly fresh, you would never know that pets had stayed. The welcome pack was a really lovely touch. Absolutely loved the ice making machine. Paul was there when you needed him and a really nice person. Just the sounds of birds, sheep and the occasional tractor, pure heaven, thank you. Maybe a non slip mat to go in the fantastic shower?
This was our 3rd stay at wagtail nest and once again it was lovely, immaculate property, basket of goodies and milk on arrival . Paul is a really friendly guy and is on hand should you need anything, would definitely recommend this place
Perfect spot for a break on the north Yorkshire Moors. Dog walking from the front door and every amenity when you return. Couldn't ask for more 1110
Absolutely fantastic stay, shattered my expectations from when I booked it. Definitely recommend and have to friends and family. Thanks again
Nicola
A lovely cottage in a great location, peaceful but near to towns and the seaside. Loved the extra touches, and the hot tub! Would definitely recommend
I have already recommended this cottage to a friend and we aim to come for another visit later in the year. This cottage was so lovely, everything was there that was needed, it was so comfy and cosy and in a lovely area too.
Gillian
Gorgeous and immaculate cottage. Owner very friendly and helpful on our arrival. Lovely welcome pack which made our visit extra special. Will definitely return here
Just perfect. . this was the best cottage weve stopped in by far .. from owner greeting us , welcome pack for us and the dog, the use of the paddock for dig walking if we didnt want to venture out . Public footpath next to the cottage and Scarborough , waterfalls and the sea literally 15 minute drive away.. will definitely be coming back
Christine
Lovely comfortable cottage in a quiet setting. The hot tub was just lovely to relax in on an evening. There is now a freezer compartment in the fridge which was a bonus. Owner very helpful and welcoming but not intrusive at all. Dog also made very welcome.
This is our 2nd time here, it's so relaxing, clean and just a beautiful little place to have a fantastic weekend.
Beautiful cottage very cosy, owners friendly and helpful.
Nicholas
It is a really lovely and cosy cottage for two, close to many attractions in the North Yorkshire Moors area. The hot tub was used every night of our stay. The owner Paul was really helpful and friendly
Lovely cottage. Perfect for exploring the North Yorkshire Coast. Some lovely dog friendly pubs with a short drive. We had a fab welcome from the owners. The directions could have been a little clearer, as we arrived around 10pm and struggled to find the address in the dark. The only thing wed suggest in terms of improvement would be a new mattress, it would make a huge difference But overall loved our stay!
Natalie
Lovely cottage, very comfortable , we had great time, ideal location for going along the cost line or Yorkshire Moors
Rebecca
What a fantastic cottage! It is so homey and we both loved our stay here. It was perfect with our dog, and ideal to get to a lot of local attractions. The views and sunsets from the back window are wonderful and the hot tub in the evenings was a real treat. The only downside was not having a freezer. I would thoroughly recommend this wonderful, welcoming cottage for walkers and beach goers alike. It's super easy and quick to get into Scalby with pubs and a welcoming local church, and not far at all to Scarborough and Whitby. It exceeded all our expectations and the dog treats and welcome basket on arrival was an even bigger bonus!
Great cottage in a lovely area. Really nice touches including a welcome pack of goodies for the humans and the dog. Great communication with the owners before and during our stay. Would recommend!

Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 3 Miles
If you are enjoying a lodge break in the Yorkshire Moors and Coast then a day trip to the Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary highly recommended. This centre is one of the regions most popular attractions and is educational as well as fun. Visitors will enjoy a journey beneath the waves, meeting many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. As well as mighty sharks and beautiful rays guests can get up close to some more common creatures including star fish and can also meet the otters, seals and penguins at feeding time. The site also has children's play area and picnic tables as well as a restaurant and souvenir shop. Family tickets cost £46.80 but the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey often offer fantastic discounts.
The Grainary Wildlife Farm - YO25 3HS

Located in Harwood Dale Village, North Yorkshire we think this attraction makes a superb family day out and couples will also enjoy the nature walks in the area.  There are 6 nature walks in total surrounding the farm so walkers and lovers of the outdoors will be in their element. Some of our favourite walks include the Spring Flowers, Pond and Village walk which takes around 35 minutes, and the Meadow and Trees walk which takes one hour.
Betton Farm Visitor Centre - TF9 3PS
about 3 Miles
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
Sea Life Marine Sanctuary - YO12 6RP
about 3 Miles
Located in the Scalby Mills area of Scarborough this makes a fun family day out for those who are interested in marine life. The fantastic ocean tank is well worth seeing - it's been transformed into a Turtle Reef and you can see an amazing array of colourful reef fish and coral. You may also catch a glimpse of the tropical sharks and turtles. Offering good value for money this is a day out with a difference and an all weather attraction.

Look out for special events including the Battle of Peasholm Park Naval Battle which has been described as a "must see".  You can also take a ride on the North Bay Railway which will delight children.
Flamingo Land - YO60 7EW

Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Castle Howard - YO60 7DA
about 20 Miles
Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
