Damson Lodge Reviews

Overall we liked our stay at the Lodge, great location, good site facilities. The main bathroom had a weird strong smell to it, at first we thought bleach but it didnt shift so we didnt use it the stay which wasnt a massive problem as we had the en suite. Feel the lodge could do with a general revamp. Hot tub didnt work first night so Id messaged about it, didnt get a reply although wed then realised it had been refilled which was why it wasnt working. I got a good deal on the lodge but wouldnt have wanted to pay a huge amount to stay here.

Our week away was excellent. White Cross Bay park itself was great good food in the restaurant. Staff in the restaurantbar were very helpful and friendly. The majority of the lodge was very clean. There were just a couple of things that let it down slightly. Parts of the kitchen were definitely not very clean, the microwave, the top of the cooker was very dirty and there were dried food marks on the kitchen tops. We felt parts of the lodge just needed a bit of TLC, some of the window handles were very loose, the backs of the sofas had gone, so you felt like you were half lying down when sat on them. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. The hot tub was brilliant. Besides a few issues, we would go back and stay there again.
The lodge was perfect. Very clean and well equipped everything we needed for our stay. The only let down was the upkeep of the outside deck area. It is dangerously slippery in places, even in warm dry conditions. It also feels unstable in certain areas and is in need of a good jet wash and general attention. Also, the guttering above the door is blocked causing rain to drip on you as you lock up. Minor issue but just needs addressing. Overall we had a lovely stay, if these fairly quick wins were sorted it would be perfect.

Fantastic stay! Loved every minute worth every penny! Such a spacious lodge! Everything we needed was there. Hot tub bonus kids loved it! Beautiful area! Would 100 come back! Thank you for a fantastic stay!

We booked this lodge based on previous reviews and sadly it did not meet our expectations. On arrival the lodge was warm and appeared clean we later discovered the microwave was filthy and on using the hob grease actually dripped down from the cooker hood. We cleaned this to make it usable and reported to the cleaning ladies who assured us they would do a deep clean for the incoming guests. The lodge is very well equipped and the towels and bedding were really lovely. However the lodge is in need of some TLC. There are some marks on the wallpaper in several areas and the dining chairs are badly marked. The outside area is very well furnished but the decking and surrounding railings need repair work. we had to use a recliner against the railings to ensure our dog did not escape. The hot tub was well serviced on a daily basis but the brambles growing through the fence into this area made it a challenge to remove the cover without getting scratched. All the PAT tests on the electrical equipment expired in January 2024 not a legal requirement we know but reassuring to guests that they are staying in a safe property. We don't feel we could recommend this lodge unless some time and money is spent bringing it up to standard!
Lovely holiday park ran by Parkdean Resorts. Clean and well kept. The barclubhouse was good, food was reasonably priced and was quite tasty. The beer did taste odd for the 1st couple of days we went in, but i think the pipes were cleaned and was much better after. The lodge it's self was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Hot tub is well maintained with 2 visits per day to check rhe pH levels. And when checked out it was emptied and cleaned. The mattress in the master bedroom was far too soft for us though, but that's just one small minor and everything else outweighed this.

We booked for 4 nights in Damson Lodge and were really pleased with our accommodation. Lovely big living space, 2 good size bedrooms especially the master the Huge bath was great, and a well equipped kitchen. The outside area was ideal and secure for the dogs . All in all a very pleasant experience.
Shirley
1 shower mixer valve was loose and caused issues with showering. Lamp in bedroom was flickering. Knives for cutting meatvegetables were blunt.
Holiday was superb with everything supplied and in good quality condition. Hot tub was lovely and warm for our arrival and stayed that way throughout our stay! Only downside was on the morning of our departure the water went off at approx 0915am meaning we couldn't use the toilet or fill our water bottles up prior to checkout at 10am.

Lovely Lodge, very clean.
The lodge was lovely clean and situated perfectly to reach Ambleside and Boness bus stop right outside. ..I think the only things you could improve on is a new kettle, some better quality pillows as these were very flat, maybe leave a spare throw or duvet for the beds as it dud get a little chilly, ..Also bus times would be very handy . But a brilliant stay Damson lodge was lovely, can't wait to come back ,thank you.
Lovely and warm on arrival, the lodge was spacious, great quality furnishings, everything you need. The towels and bedding were very good quality, clean and smelled nice. We were expecting bad WiFi and tv signals as weve stayed in a different part of the park but no all was well. The hot tub was lovely and relaxing. We had a fantastic break and would definitely book again. Its personal taste but I found the pillows too flat and the double mattress too soft but everything else was just perfect. I was very impressed at the cleanliness of the lodge. Definitely worth 5 stars
Everything was beautifully presented and we would not hesitate to book again if available because the position of it was wonderful. Thank you
The cabin was excellent value for its money very clean n the beds n sheets were ... The cabin was excellent value for its money very clean n the beds n sheets were very comfortable The hot tub was hot and in excellent working condition n clean Definitely recommend and book again soon
Lovely property lodge was warm when we arrived which was nice and xmas decs were fab, good shower everything we needed was available in the lodge the hot tub was in view of other lodges but will be going back very soon.
Absolutely amazing holiday at damson Lodge, everything was clean to a very high standard, comfortable bed and pillows , hot tub was a excellent bonus , we have stayed at whitecross bay for many years now and I would put damson Lodge in my top 2 lodges to stay at. A very well done to the owners.
Excellent place and surrounding en suite could do with an update decking area ... Excellent place and surrounding en suite could do with an update decking area very slippy and instruction would be good for heating but overall would go back

We stayed here last year and enjoyed the lodge so that's why we came back this year . Ready to book again for next year . This lodge has excellent features and the Hot Tub is great even at the end of November
Couldnt fault anything It was really inviting when we first walked in as the lamps and heating was already on Very clean Very happy with everything. Will definitely be coming again.
Pauline
The property could do with new frying pans, and hooks for coats at the main door, also a couple of in the bedrooms. Not very private if someone occupying the next door property.
Very nice no complaints
The property was on the whole to a high standard. Inside was great, apart from a few dated utensils. Sofas acceptable although could be a little bigger as quite shallow and not as comfortable. Windows and doors are getting tired and are stiff and difficult to open and close. An annoying drip over the front door from a compromised gutter. Parkdean didnt seem happy to help, when the lady on reception realised we hadnt booked with them direct. However, I would book again, great lodge position and super clean. Comfortable beds, good size fridge freezer , etc. Clean carpets, no smell and tasteful finishes. Key box is awkward if motor skills are not 100 or a customer is disabled! Took us a few attempts to open it. Hot tub was clean, water level did drop the day before we left. Obviously it wasnt refilled as this would have reduced the temperature. Plenty of seating around the outside space, decking was slippy due to the rain in the night. The area outside the front door remained safe as this was different material and maybe in the future the whole decking area would benefit from this upgrade. We were careful so no problem but if used by children could be a problem. Loved our stay at Damson Lodge thank you. The above is only feed back and not intended to offend or complain
Lesley
The lodge was clean the bed was extremely comfortable however its a little tired and would benefit from upgrading a few things. The decking is spongy in areas and bannisters loose, the toilet roll holders are loose and the light in the bathroom taped up. The door handles on main doors were stiff and having arthritic hands made getting in and out difficult. Hot tub was good and clean. In view of cost for a weeks holiday we would expect a bit more, sorry wont be returning
Andrew
Ecking in dire need of maintenance several rotten sections, handrail on steps is loose and provides no support, large sections of railings are loose and broken and there is a hole in the decking at the rear of the property covered over by a piece of fake grass this in itself is extremely dangerous.
Michelle
We had the most wonderful week staying at Damson Lodge. Everything was perfect and a lovely place to stay. A lot bigger than I expected and very well maintained. Beds were so comfy and wouldnt hesitate to stay again. The grounds were lovely and peaceful. The hot tub was amazing. You wont regret staying here. Such an amazing lodge in a beautiful part of the world. Will definitely be back.
Lovely lodge, well positioned within the Park. Our second visit and would be happy to return.
Christina
We absolutely loved our stay here, the lodge was beautiful, it is the cleanest lodge we have ever stayed in, it was big and had all the essentials we needed. Park Dean is a great resort as well and the place is beautiful. I cannot complain at all we will definitely be trying to book this lodge again.
Elizabeth
We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at Damson Lodge. The lodge was spacious and so well equipped a real home from home. The hot tub was lovely and warm and well maintained. The location by the lake was superb and the site was central to a lot of the surrounding attractions. All in all I couldn't fault anything. Thoroughly recommend.
We love this place. It was our second visit and we had a wonderful time again. The large size and homeliness of the lodge coupled with the proximity to Windermere lake a stones throw make it an ideal holiday home for us. The hot tub is the icing on the cake. There are some woods on the site for dog walking and some outstanding restaurants nearby we love The Gathering at the Samling and The Wild Boar. Most of the week the sun shone, making our kayaking and paddleboarding trips on the lake so beautiful and relaxing.
Lovely weeks stay in Damson Lodge, so much room in the lodge itself, big balcony area and the hot tub was fab to relax in after a long day of walking the holiday park itself is just ideal, its small and quiet and the perfect location to get to several places. Would recommend to anyone wanting a break in the Lake District! Myself, my partner and our dog had an amazing week here.
Hi, wardrobe doors need attention due to hinges being damaged in main bedroom. Could I suggest that coat hangers are put in the entrance area to keep it all tidy. Excellent cabin and will recommend to others. I requested a change of bedding due to feathers allergy and it was promptly dealt with. Thank you.
Natalie
Weekend was amazing we was so happy with the property hit tube was lovely and the surroundings that we didnt want to leave. We will be booking again soon would recommend to anyone looking for a break away was worth the price we payed.
Carmen
Hi Just been at the lodge for new year, the size of the lodge and the location was perfect and the hot tub was a lovely touch however my only negative point would be that the sofas in the front room needs replacing, there is no filling in the cushions and when you sat on the sofas all you feel is the steel bar or the wooden frame so we had to sit on the cushions from the spare bed room for comfort. Happy new year Carmen
We Booked this last year and have re booked for the same week this year . excellent Cabin
Beautiful spacious and stylish lodge. Very clean and homely. The hot tub was the cherry on the cake. We had the best weekend on the lake then chilling in the lodge and the hot tub. The weather didnt matter. The pool was great too and staff very friendly. My 6 year old loved every minute and cried when we had to drag him out of the hub tub to go home. We felt really at home. Cant wait to go back!!
Lesley
This property was fantastic , warm and welcoming after a long journey . The lodge was immaculate. Beautiful surroundings right on the lake . The hot tub was super clean and very hot . Really enjoyable . Would recommend this site to anyone . The owner of this property keeps it amazingly well . Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Just got back from a lovely weeks holiday at Damson Lodge. The lodge was very comfortable, clean and had excellent facilities. Great location to explore the Lakes and after a long day walking was great to relax in the hot tub! Definitely would revisit!
Me, my husband and our little boy stayed here at the end of July it was a lovely lodge just a few minutes walk from the lake which such a lovely view my son loved the sports court he was there quite a lot playing football the lodge had everything you needed we didnt eat out much as we thought it was quite expensive but there is really no need to as you have all the facilities to cook yourself within your lodge we would definitely stay here again.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 4 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 10 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 15 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 18 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 22 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 23 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
