Bam Lodge @ Applethwaite Hall Reviews

Laura
Everything was fabulous at Bam Lodge. All the little things thought about, dog waste bags in the courtyard, dog bowls, welcome note and gift (lovely touch), everything you may need in the kitchen. The best equipped cottage we have stayed in.
Jill
Bam lodge is in a lovely location with plenty of walks in the area, long or short for your dog. The lodge itself was spotless and spacious with all the equipment that you would need and the bottle of wine and sweets left was a nice gesture. Would definitely book again.
James
Excellent. Cottage could not be faulted. Loved the shower after a day away. 10 out of 10.
Lyndsey
Beautiful location, nice and quiet. Easy access to towns/amenities and so many places to hike and explore
Sharon
The cottage is nice and modern with good comfy furniture and nice enclosed garden for dogs but the road or very narrow lane with dry stone walling each side going to the property is a nightmare! If you drive a large car or 4 x 4 You will not enjoy this road. We would not book this property again because of the road and the cottage seems very cold eRead moreven in Summer because it doesnt seem to get much light or sun in there. Bring your own dish cloth! They dont provide one or any tea or coffee pods. The Hot tub is nice but we actually found it too hot. Trying to get the heating to work in the cottage is hit and miss. The weather for our week was really bad, rained almost every day and we needed some warmth in the cottage to dry our clothes and warm up. The welcome pack could be a lot better. Hide

Could not get heating on in lounge and on towel rail in main bedroom, gets a bit chilly as property is in the shade
Michael
Wonderful stay at a lovely lodge

Absolute gem of a place. Had the most amazing time here for christmas. Rebooked to come again in september before we he had finished our holiday. By far the best property we have stayed at.
Laura
Perfect get away with the dog! Cleanliness of this property was amazing. The garden was enclosed and the hot tub an amazing touch! We cannot wait to stay again

Perfect for a family holiday. Bam Lodge is beautiful and very well equipped! Hot tub was perfect after a days walking and exploring the beautiful Lake District. We will be back again.
Gemma
Location of Bam Lodge was ideal for exploring the Lakes and we found it to be a home away from home. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with the peace and quiet you get, the use of the hot tub and overall feel of the property itself. We hope to be able to book again soon.

Lovely accommodation, everything you need and lovely Hot Tub after a full day walking. Both Windermere and Bowness are lovely places to visit. We also liked the Ferry across to Ambleside, turn left as you get off the Ferry and follow signs to Sowrey. There is a pub called Cuckoo Brow, lovely place to stop for a drink and food. Thank you for a lovelRead morey stay and our thoughtful gift. Hide

We had a great week at Bam Lodge. Very well equipped and dog friendly. Windermere is within walking distance, and there are several good dog walks straight from the apartment. The hot tub is an added bonus after a long walk.
Wendy
Bam Lodge was a gem of a find and can't fault in any way. The standard of accommodation and cleanliness is top notch plus the hot tub was a bonus to enjoy at the end of the day. The gardens and little woodland walk is perfect to take the dog on an early morning snuffle before the day begins. The owners of Bam Lodge have created an amazing space Read moreand we look forward to returning soon. Hide

We have used this site on a number of different occasions and properties and they have always been to a very good standard. We have just booked another trip so hope that this trend continues
Helen
The property was well maintained, spotlessly clean, perfect location. Just wonderful
Angela
Cottage was lovely, home from home. Spacious, clean, lovely comfy beds and well equipped. Constuctive criticism would be that there was not enough hot water at all! No one could have a bath. Two showers and we struggled to have water hot enough to wash up! Did not like the fact that the heating was remotely controlled by the owners!! Never encounRead moretered this in any other cottage and would be a cause for concern in future! Hide

overall very satisfied. Very clean, well equipped and a lovely location.
Simone
For the price I would have expected dish cloths, washing up liquid, bath towels, robes for the hot tub, tea, coffee, fresh milk, sugar and locally sourced biscuits
Denise
Amazing cottage and everything was thought out . Beautiful location.
Michael
Bam Lodge was a beautiful cottage and immaculate inside. Plenty of information inside the guest book. Would certainly return.
Michael
A quality property in a fantastic location
Helena
Very clean and well presented property. Great location! Only feedback was the sofa size. Would of wanted something a little bigger for everyone to get on comfortably.
Clarke
One of the best dog friendly lodges we have stayed in. Every finite detail has been thought of. Our only comments which would be more of an improvement rather than things that were missing was: 1 - The outside tap which has a hosepipe attached would be great if this was a hot / cold dog washing station. 2 - not sure if these were missing or were Read moreavailable pre-covid but bath robes would be a great addition with the hot tub. 3 - 2 towels per person seemed a bit light gives the use of the hot tub and a 7 day stay. As stated although these would be great improvements for the stay they certainly would not stop us booking Bam Lodge again. The original cottages team were great at responding to any concerns or queries and the owners have done an exceptional job with this property. Hide

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 6 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 11 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 13 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 17 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 20 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 25 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
