Easy reach of the historic town of Jedburgh (9miles) with excellent amenities and attractions including Jedburgh Abbey, a majestic 12th century ruin that offers a glimpse into Scotland s medieval past. Mary Queen of Scots' Visitor Centre, a museum in a 16th century tower house, where the famous Queen stayed during her turbulent reign.

Jedburgh Castle Jail and Museum, offers insights into 19th century prison life and the history of the town. Kielder Water & Forest Park (20miles) offers an array of water sports and some of the most challenging mountain bike trails in the UK or enjoy stargazing in Europe's largest Dark Sky Park!

Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.

Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
