Karadow Reviews

Idyllic, incredible pet friendly home away from home
We had the most incredible staycation week staying in Karadow; it is a perfect home for a comfortable, cosy yet modern break away, in the middle of stunning quiet Cornwall countryside, but only 10-15 minutes drive to absolutely stunning beaches and cute villages with cafes, pubs and restaurants. The hot tub is incredible, and was ready to use as soon as we arrived. Massive field of beautiful green grass for our dog to run around in and for us to play table tennis and kick a ball around. Immensely comfortable bed. So quiet and peaceful and serene, the perfect spot to get away from busy City life. We had the most warm welcome on our arrival, with a tour and explanation by Mike the host. A beautiful welcome package which included traditional scones, cream and jam - such a lovely touch! The highlight for us was the walk down to Al's Point nearby where we got engaged, it was absolutely perfect and so private.
A home from home - but better!
We stayed in the smaller adjacent cottage, Skiber, for 10 nights and couldn't fault our time there. The property was immaculate, the beds very comfortable and all the facilities and equipment you'd expect and more were present. The hot tub was a godsend, although we would've liked to have had the opportunity to use it more, and the outdoor fenced area is perfect for young children to play safely in. The peninsula offers plenty to explore with some beautiful beaches and is well within reach of larger towns like Falmouth and Padstow, but without their crowds. Mike and Sarah were excellent hosts, always on hand to help, including with advice on what sights to visit locally. We definitely hope to return soon!
Stunning home for the weekend
We wanted somewhere we could all switch off from home life, relax & enjoy some quality time together. We loved time in the hot tub, the kids seemed to chat for England in there, just perfect. The decor was beautiful, we enjoyed cooking here as we had everything we needed, just like home from home. The owners were so friendly, thoughtful & helpful. We had a cream tea waiting, my fave & left a bottle of bubbles for me to enjoy for my birthday. The walk & views surrounding the cottage are worth checking out. We would love to return one day. Thankyou for everything.
Absolutely amazing
Our family booked for a pre christmas getaway at Karadow cottage and we would like to say a big thankyou to Mike and Sara! Upon arrival we were greeted with and a cream tea which was a lovely surprise and a welcome touch. Mike and Sara were very attentive, friendly and made us feel very much at home. The cottage itself was of the highest quality we have ever experienced in all of the previous holiday rentals we have used. Every bedroom was spacious and spotless and the bathrooms were super modern-again, modified to the highest standards. The hot tub is a really good addition and was also kept ready for our use at any time. We would highly recommend, and have been to all of our family and friends a stay at Karadow and we hope to return in the not so distant future. Thanks again to Mike and Sara, you made our stay very memorable.
A home from home, but with luxury.
Just had a fantastic week here and what a cottage, it has the wow factor. After a day out and about you come back to a lovely soak in the hot tub. The cottage is done to such a high standard you never want to leave. Sara and Mike had put blood sweat and tears into the cottage and should be so proud of what there have done. They are such a lovely couple and nothing is too much for them. Thankyou for making our holiday special. We will be back 1 day.
Perfectly fitted out, in a great location
We spent a week in this cottage and found that it offered everything that both the adults and the children needed. It?s well furnished, and the kitchen seemed to have every possible piece of equipment. Beds were comfortable and showers were excellent. The private hot tub was well-used by all of us and adds a real touch of luxury. There?s masses of outdoor space for kids to run and play in, as well as local walks that provide some stunning views of the estuary. In addition to all of that, the owners (Mike and Sarah) are consistently helpful and responsive. Karadow is thoroughly recommended if you are planning to visit the Roseland peninsula!
We spent christmas 2023 in this lovely cottage. It has everything you could need and was spotlessly clean. Hot tub was great. Nice location with lots of nice walks for the dog on the doorstep. Owners on site and very welcoming and accommodating but not at all intrusive. Highly recommend this property.
Really enjoyed the stay. Lovely property in a fabulous location
Absolutely lovely stay and such a lovely welcome too. The cottage is spotless, huge and has everything you could need. The hot tub was a huge plus and the kids loved it and the big field too very good for kite flying! Helping to feed the alpacas, lambs and chickens made my daughter's holiday too. Couldn't fault the place at all it's one of our favourite places we've stayed in 25 years of cottages in Cornwall. The Roseland is beautiful and very peaceful, even in high season. We will be back!
Joanne
After reading the reviews, and viewing the pictures online we thought we knew what to expect when we arrived, However the reviews and pictures don't do the cottage justice. The cottage had everything you needed and more, so much thought and detail has gone into the renovation. We were met by Sarah, who was warm and welcoming. The lovely surprise hidden under the cake tin was very appreciated. Scones, cookies, flapjacks, fresh bread, homemade jan, cream, milk and cornish butter. We have to say, these were delicious. Both Mike and Sarah are easily contactable, they checked in with us during our stay to make sure we were happy. Absolutely fantastic hosts. The dogs loved the large secure field. The walk down to Messack Point is a must. The view is breathtaking. We had a fantastic stay in Cornwall, we visited several beaches, including Towan, Pendower and Carlyon Bay. Jet skiing at Carlyon Bay is a definite! We booked with Cornwall Waverunner, Amazing experience with the bonus of seeing 2 pods of Dolphins. Then a pop along to Charlestown Harbour where Doc Martin was filmed amongst others St Ives, Lands End and Tintagel Castle are definitely worth a visit along with Via Ferrata for the ZipWire. We did have an Emergency vet trip, due to one of the doggies enjoying the sea a little too much, ending up with frozen tail oh and a hospital visit after a fall in St Ives no alcohol involved, this time!
The photos do not do the cottage justice its so beautiful and the surroundings are stunning. All the little details were the ones that meant so much to us, the welcome pack the towels and all the little extras that you forget to pack. The owners Mike and sarah are so lovely and make you so welcome we would definitely book again and highly recommend karadow especially to families as its ideal for kids plenty of space inside and outdoors. We loved it!!!!
Debbie
Super stay with everything you could wish for in a cottage! Excellent quality to everything available, right down to the potato peeler yes we did have Sunday roast! Location was perfect, not just for the Roseland and St Mawes but generally the rest of Cornwall due to the King Harry Ferry. Thanks Mike & Sarah for having us and the pooches!
ie-claire
Delightful getaway. Super comfortable beds and all the creature comforts in a home from home. Plenty of room for kids to play safely. Excellent location to explore the best that our South Coast can offer. Cant recommend highly enough!

Karadow is just the perfect place for a perfect holiday. Well situated for anywhere in Cornwall as long as you dont mind a drive. Nice walks on your doorstep and plenty to do in nearby St Mawes, where we kayaked. If your wanting to surf or body board you need to be on the other side of Cornwall, but everywhere is easily accessible. Never felt so relaxed and at home in a holiday cottage, its beautiful and takes your breath away. The hot tub is the added bonus to such a nice house. Michael and Sarah are wonderful hosts and on hand to help with anything. Fantastic stay so much so weve booked for next year already.
Catherine
What an amazing place to stay! The cottage was spotlessly clean and tidy, very well equipped and exceeded all of our expectations. The owners were super helpful, lots of tips of where to go and quick to respond if we needed anything. The hot tub was a winner with the children and adults. Weve had such a relaxing week just what we needed after the recent months of chaos! Thank you!

A beautiful renovation, high attention to details and lovely owners. Could not fault this holiday very good location and the private hot tub was the cherry on top. I would highly recommend staying here. We had our two year old with us and he loved going out for walks, to the Zoo and beach. The perfect place for a romantic get away or a family holiday. Thankyou Rachael ONeill
This was our 1st time doing a holiday like this, it won't be our last. Hosts met us on arrival and showed us around and how everything worked, the place has not long been done out and has been done to a very high standard, everything we needed was there and then some. hot tub was amazing, big garden which the kids loved, footpath on the doorstep the walk and views again amazing. A massive thank you to the hosts, they left us a welcome card and treats they even made our daughter a birthday cake.
An alle anderen bedenkenlos mieten ankommen wohl fhlen If we could tell you our experience in one word, it would be sensational! First a big thank you to the two hosts, who have welcomed us so warmly and lovely, always with help and advice to the side and with whom we also had one or the other private conversation during the week I'm not really exuberant, but I would have to lie if we had missed anything a private parking lot in front of the house, a nice welcome pack of regional food, a super modern and tastefully decorated house, lacking in the kitchen nothing at all. And do not laugh, we even bought the same pots in Germany because they were so good!! A huge smart TV, leather couches, very large and above all modern bathrooms. And for us also very important the really big beds and the highquality mattresses ... Goodbye back pain D But the best of all ... on one of the two terraces was the large hot tub. Although we are both no water rats, we were every ! evening up to 3 hours in it and have counted the stars until the night. It is so quiet there, no car sounds, nothing. Instead, a huge garden where we even saw a deer during the week! Dear Sarah, dear Mike ... you both did everything right and you have created something great. In fact, you have inspired us in many ways and we would like to thank you again for a great week. To everyone else rent without hesitation ... arrive ... feel good
We have just returned from a weeks holiday staying in Karadow, which is a beautifully converted barn. It has a very well equipped kitchen, everything is brand new, the longe and bedrooms are bright, modern and airy. The bathrooms have excellent showers, bonus having a wc and shower room downstairs. This doubled as a utilility room, with washing machine. The welcome tray of cream tea, with strawberries, Cornish biscuits, proper creamy local milk as well as tea, coffee etc. There was also dog treats, a couple of sachets of dog food, poo bags and 2 bowls, much appreciated. The owners love dogs and have a friendly little Terrier. The gardens are well kept and nicely planted, the front garden was a paved enclosed area with a picnic table, the back garden, also enclosed, had rattan furniture, sun lounger and badminton rackets etc.Beyond the garden was a massive play area dog walking area. It had Table tennis, a football area and benches and more picnic tables. There are lovely walks in 8 acres of grounds including down to the sea. There was an abundance of birds and even saw a Roe Deer one evening Our Hosts Michael and Sarah were charming and knowledgeable about the area.Even offering to drive us to the local pub and back. The Roseland Pennisular is a beautiful area to explore, with St.Mawes and Falmouth only a few miles away. Thouroughly enjoyed our stay at Karadow, thankyou Micheal and Sarah.
