The Bickleigh Reviews

We had an amazing time at the Bickleigh and absolutely loved the pod, the interior was beautiful and so comfy we especially loved the log burner. The hosts were so lovely and welcoming and we loved our bottle of Prosecco on arrival. It was a special way to spend my partners birthday and we loved our meal in the pub nearby The Fishermans cott. The views from the hot tub were spectacular and we cannot wait to visit again in the warmer weather.
We had a lovely 4 night stay at the Bickleigh! Couldnt recommend it enough.
Beautiful lodge and such a peaceful holiday!
This was the most perfect few days. Quiet and peaceful surroundings. The owners were lovely and left us a few welcome gifts. All the little details were perfect such as the robes, toiletries and blankets etc. We loved the coziness of the log burner and hot tub aswell. If youre looking for the perfect place for a quiet and relaxing few days away then this is for you.
Every last detail was met, with extra touches to make it a fantastic place to call home for a relaxing holiday.

The bickliegh is a beautiful little studio style property. Set in some gorgeous landscape views over the devonshire counrty side. It is well equiped with everything you willneed for your stay, from the little toothbrushes, feminine emergancy box, hair dryer, and fire lighters. The hot tub was perfect and easy to start. Was such a lovely peaceful place. Super clean and had a lovely stay. Thank you! X
Had an amazing stay at this gorgeous lodge which was even better than the photos with beautiful views and the sheep bouncing down the hill. The hot tub was just perfect after a days cycling and was easy to get to the temperature required. In this until 10pm every night! Penny and Adrian were the perfect hosts with a welcome present of Prosecco and home made scones personally delivered. 5 days here was not nearly enough! Would highly recommend to anyone. Missing the sheep already Look forward to a return visit.
Such a beautiful location and just what you need to shut off from the world and be in your own bubble.
Was a lovely little get away. The views were amazing especially the sheep running around. The place was very clean and easy to find with the directions given. Lovely little welcome gifts left for us which we enjoyed. Will recommend and definitely be back again.
Rachel

The hot tub and bbq outside the property also went down a treat. There are places to eat and shop a short drive away. Would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing a quiet location in the country.

Clear instructions on how to find it we were completely wowed with everything at The Bickleigh. On arrival plenty of room for parking. Checking in was easy & stress free. The views were absolutely stunning at every angle. Inside the property it was squeaky clean & had everything we needed. Really modern with fabulous stylish decor. A wonderful welcome package & information on everything at hand. We are huge teacoffee drinkers & were amazed at the selection left for us. Lovely pubs close by especially Fishermans Cott & Bickleigh Mill was a really beautiful place to stop & have drink or shop for gifts to take home. This all was situated in the most beautiful area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & wished wed booked longer. We will definitely be back as soon as possible. Thank you Penny & partner our whole experience was exceptional.
Hilary
We had the most wonderful stay. It was peaceful and tranquil with just the sheep & lambs bleating. The lodge was very comfortable and well equipped. We really enjoyed the hot tub, once we managed to get it up to heat. It would have been a lovely touch to have the fire set so all we had to do was light it on arrival. Penny, our host, was delightful. Any questions were quickly answered. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely like to return.
Ashleigh

Myself and my partner have had a lovely stay here. It was so peaceful and romantic. Stunning views and we even had snow. The accommodation was clean, tidy and well maintained. Would definitely book again and recommend. Even my partner has said that we will becoming back for our honeymoon. Thank you Penny and family, you were amazing and have done a fantastic job.
Leonie
We had a great stay. Perfect location. Lovely hosts. Accommodation was nice and clean and the architecture was great. Loved the wood burner inside! Only comments I have for improvement are more space for clothes so maybe a chest of drawers or under bed storage. And unfortunately we couldnt get the hot tub hot enough in this weather and it was one of the main reasons we chose this particular accommodation so that was quite disheartening as didnt feel like we got the full experience but the owners have said if we decide to come back they will get it up and running for us. Maybe it would be a good idea to change to electric ones and put a little roof over it so it can be used in all weathers. We had a really lovely stay though so thank you!
Rebecca
Bickleigh lodge was amazing, so relaxing and peaceful! ... Felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. The little details were such a lovely touch!... Hot tub helped lift any tension from the everyday stresses with the gorgeous views!... Lovely wood burner inside made it so cozy!... Such a relaxing break! The owner was lovely and was only a message away if we needed anything...

Thomas
We really enjoyed our relaxing stay. The lanes were the only thing we could remotely complain about and thats if we were plying devils advocate. Lovely place for a couple to spend quality time together in a stress free setting. Comfy sofa and bed, simple but affective kitchen and bathroom. All the things desired in a calm relaxed get away setting.
Katherine

It was first class. The property was just as described probably even better. The details to furnishings were beautiful. We were made to feel welcome from the host and that anything we needed or any problems we could just call them. The property has outstanding views and the dark night sky was amazing. The welcome scones with jam and cream were an added bonus. We will certainly be booking again in the future.
Fantastic place for a quiet break with all the mod cons required Hot tub was ... Fantastic place for a quiet break with all the mod cons required Hot tub was fab all highly recommended Will deffo be booking again soon
What can we say about the Bickleigh? First the bad stuff.......erm.... can't think of any. Now for the good stuff, where do we start? The owners are wonderful hosts, attentive and friendly but not at all intrusive and are willing to have a nice chat if you wish. The location is wonderful, on a hillside overlooking beautiful fields and trees, the owner's house is lower down the hill and can't be seen from the lodge so there is an uninterrupted view over the valley. It is so quiet and peaceful, we can see why they call it Ridgeview Retreat. If you want peace and quiet with stunning views this is the place to be. The lodge is amazing with everything you need, a good range of utensils, crockery, towels, even an emergency pack of toiletries. The TV unlike in most places has Amazon prime and Netflix and the WIFI works very well. You do need to allow a decent time for the hot tub to heat up 3 hours or so and be attentive to keep the fire roaring until the tub is hot, after that make sure you let the fire die down or it may be too hot! I must mention the mushrooms, growing all round the lodge and in the field were masses of field mushrooms which we could pick and eat, quite delicious All in all, Ridgeview Retreats is a wonderful place with wonderful hosts and I recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful few days.
Matthew
Amazing place to relax, facilities were great. Hot tub was great, be sure you keep the fire burning for a few hours before you get in! But once its heated up it will stay warm right through till morning. Views from all around the building are fantastic! Would definitely go back for a relaxing weekend
Lovely Host. Couldnt do enough for you. Would highly recommend paying a visit to the lodge and surrounding area.
The lodge is beautifully furnished and fully equipped, lovely peaceful location with excellent views and a delicious homemade cake on arrival. Only downside is the hot tub takes an age to heat up so didnt get to use. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing place to be for a rest
