4 Water's Edge Reviews

The lodge and hot tub could do with some updating, looked tired in places. The heating didn't come on and it got quite cold, only the heated towel rail in the main bathroom seemed to work. Shower didn't work great, very low pressure and not as hot as we would like. The grounds and view of the lake were lovely and we would definitely stay again. Very dog friendly and peaceful.
Love staying in these lodges. We try and stay in a different one each time. This is our 8th time staying in these lodges. The last 2 lodges weve stayed in at stonerush lodges the fridges werent cold enough and our milk has gone off. We had to use our ice packs for the food. Other than that always happy with the lodges.
The lodge was perfect, as it says in the title, Water's Edge, that is exactly what it was, the lake is directly below the veranda and the fish come upto the surface to await some food, they are joined by a Heron, ducks and geese who expectantly await any treats. The lodge itself is fantastic, everything you need for your stay is there. We were lucky that the weather was brilliant for the week and were able to sit outside all the time enjoying the peace and quiet. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet peaceful getaway.

Hi property was lovely just a couple of minor things could not open any doors windows in bedroom making it very warm to sleep also the window in the ceiling in bedroom let light in very early in morning no window covering.
Absolutely fantastic property and location. So quiet and tranquil. Lodge was very comfortable and hot tub was superb. Communication before & during was excellent, sally made sure we were ok and made us feel nothing was too much trouble. We usually stay at a well known forest retreat, however prices are ridiculous and this easily compared. We found in the sales building an envelope of leaflets and coupons. These may be useful to put in the lodges as we may have missed them. The only thing that was missing was a small on site shop and maybe for the restaurant to be open 7 days and for breakfasts. But these small things wouldnt stop us from booking again. Will definitely recommend.
Really lovely property in such a tranquil location overlooking the lake. Great to watch the huge fish and heron! We had a great week staying there and a good location to visit lots of different places in the area. We ate in the restaurant on site and food was delicious. Property had everything you need, very comfortable. Perhaps some more crockery and glasses would be good so not always washing up and could use the dishwasher more and some ice cube trays. Also, it would be nice to open the windowsdoors in the bedrooms and bathrooms but understand this was due to safety issues and were in the process of being changed. Would highly recommend this property for a holiday.
I went with 2 friends and my 2 dogs. On first sighting we thought wow such a glorious location. The fish, ducks and a goose all visiting our plot. On closer inspection, decor could do with a lick of paint heart and there. Hot tub base looked like it was about to give way. Beds were really comfy, but my friend in double was disturbed by skylight not having a shade. REALLY bright REALLY early in the morning. Apart from that a really fantastic stay. On sight restaurant was so friendly and the food was brilliant. Sorry for any negatives but positives definitely out weigh. Thank you
Property was perfect. Loved being on the lake, feeding the fish and geese and the decking area was lovely and spacious. The bar and restaurant was an additional bonus and the staff were amazing. Will definitely be returning.

If you want to get away and immerse in nature , this is the place to go. We were also blessed with the weather which added that extra. The location was nicest place I've stayed and we do forest holidays! Loved it and done us all the world of good. Staff at the old mill super and the food was delicious. Will be coming again. Only tiny thing is clean the patio cushions as had bird poo on and the water wasn't very hot but minimal to everything else. The box of handy things like washing up liquid was great for us only staying the weekend. I didn't want to leave!
Absolutely loved the lodge, beautiful setting . The lodge was was very clean had everything you needed and the bed super comfy , the receptionists so helpful and friendly couldnt fault it and hopefully will be back

This was our 5th stay at Stonerush, in three different lodges. It is always a fabulous break. The accommodation superb, like a home from home set in stunning surroundings. All the team at Stonerush always very welcoming and helpful. The newly refurbed Old Mill restaurant serves lovely food & a great choice.
Robert
Beautiful lodge, well equipped, the shower headin the on suite bathroom keep falling down and wouldnt stay up, that was the only negative. modern and spacious, beds comfortable. We had a lovely time. The bar and restaurant were very handy, friendly staff. The lakes were amazing, it was peaceful and charming.

Another pleasant week at Stonerush Lakes, this time at 4 Waters Edge. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with sufficient equipment for the stay. The hot tub was very welcoming as the autumn brings it's cooler days. Very happy to recommend this chalet. One thing to note is that the TV in the bedroom has no aerial but is suitable for online content and mirror casting from a tablet.
Patrick
Lovely relaxing get away peaceful surroundings overlooking the lake. What might be good idea is outside lighting or led lights, but cant fault really.
Christopher
The property was absolutely perfect for us . We would definitely return. We could not fault it .
On arrival we noticed that the carpet between the ensuite shower room and the master bedroom was very wet? My husband decided to have a shower that evening to discover that the whole of the shower room was flooded, and also now understand why the carpet in the bedroom was wet.. it was soaked. I used the lodged towels to clean up. We went straight to reception on the very next day to report. The very nice Sally was helpful and asked us to leave the key in the key safe which we obliged on the understanding we would be informed when someone would be entering the lodge. Sally called that evening, the door was bent and asked us NOT TO USE the shower until fixed. I asked when, Sally informed us that she didnt know that the manager was back on Monday from holiday and would inform us and to talk about compensation. I AM STILL WAITING FOR THAT CALL. So, to be respectful of the lodge we stopped using the shower which we paid for extra and ensuite shower room !!! it took ME three days to dry out the carpet and there was mould starting to form on the carpet in the bedroom on the wall joining the shower room to the bedroom. We also know that one day someone came into the lodge without informing us as the key safe was not only open, but the key number was visible. This was very upsetting and frightening that someone did this and anyone could have come in. From then I took the key with us. I have photos of all the above. I await your response, and this is very upsetting and will stop us recommending either group until resolved.
We had a lovely stay for my girlfriends birthday, the place was clean and comfortable. My only issue was the hot tub which had no power in the jets and stopped working the last 2 nights, we walked over to another lodge to see the hot tub which worked fine so it was clear ours was faulty Big thanks to sally from reception for the effort made for my girlfriends birthday, little things that make a big impact Overall we had an amazing stay
Lukasz
Lovely location and planty of space. 4 Water's Edge overlooking smal lake excellent place for morning coffee. Private and peaceful. With our 2 small children we had a lovely stay
A fabulous lodge in perfect surroundings. Exactly as described in brochure. Wonderful to wake up and hear nature on the doorstep. Enjoyed breakfast on the decking overlooking the lake. Comfortable bed, Relaxing in the living room with large screen tv and Netflix in the evenings. The only minor challenge was being unable to get bedroom tv to work but not a bad thing! We shall return to this idyllic place.
Dirty pans found in the cupboard and hot tub temperature was about 28 when it should be between 3638 and it didnt seem maintenance was being carried out everyday. Its about 7th or 8th time weve stayed here. Its always been top class. Maybe it was the power outage but the service wasnt to its usual standard.
I would highly recommend waters edge, me and my boyfriend went away for a weekend and wish we had booked for longer. The lodge was incredible and so were the facilities. We had an amazing view on the lake front, very relaxing and peaceful, will definitely be back soon
Sophie
Everything was perfect as always at stone rush lakes! , however the beds were very worn and had large dips in either side indicating a mattress change is well needed.
Adrian
We had a really lovely break, up until the last night. The food was exceptional, the service was also great. However, we had gone out for the day and the heating failed. Initially showing that the pressure had been lost. We asked reception who advised that the maintanance team had already left for the day. We were given a 24hr call out number, which said they would try to help. Then they too could not get anyone to visit. It was a very cold evening and we had no heating or hot showers. Maintanance appeared as we were leaving only to say that there was indeed a fault and they would get it fixed during the day. Other than that we would highly recommend the site, the staff and the food!
Having previously stayed at 6 Stonerush Valley and been wowed by the cleanliness, facilities and overall new appearance of what was obviously an established lodge we were expecting much of the same from 4 Waters Edge. How disappointed were we. Joyce and Alans reviews sum up pretty much what we found and this is really sad considering that these comments were made as long ago as 12 months and as recently as 2 months ago. The sink is still not working, the cracks remain as does the mould and leaking rusting towel rail. The master bedroom bed has put me of memory foam mattresses for life, and the damaged blinds in the same room did nothing to add to the overall appearance. Add to this the lounge light that only half worked, simply for the want of a new bulb, the rug that needs to be thrown out, or really intensively cleaned, the sofa cushions that have seen far better days, a coffee table that would not have looked out of place in a student digs and walls that need a good lick of paint. The lodge feels tired and unloved and in much need of a very big dose of TLC to bring it back to a standard that I would expect from a site that promotes itself on offering luxurious holiday lodges. Back to number 6 next time methinks.
Such a beautiful location and stunning lodge, hot tub perfect. could have done with a few more coat hangers as limited space to put clothes.
rianne
Lodge in need of some tlc. Ensuite shower badly leaks, basin cracked and plug doesn't work. Outside furniture tired and decking starting to give way. Not anywhere near up to the standard of No.1 which we stayed at earlier in the year and are going to again in November. Enjoyed our holiday nevertheless!
Maxine
Lovely lodge in a very tranquil location. We enjoyed the hot tub and eating on the balcony whilst watching the wildlife on the lake. We would definitely go back. The only improvement we recommend is a really good clean and some general maintenance for the lodge.
My partner and I stayed at Watersedge back in June 2021, travelling in Covid times is always daunting but the lodge was wonderful, super clean, had all the facilities we needed and allowed us to stay quite contained and yet have the most fabulous holiday. The lodge was modern. well equipped and well maintained. The veranda over the lake and the hot tub were really really special. We used this as a base for a walking holiday and so to come back to somewhere each evening to relax was a treat. I would recommend this lodge to anybody for their holiday. We ate in the restaurant on our last night and this was of good standard and reasonably priced. The only point to mention is that unsurprisingly for Cornwall is down a very narrow and windy lane. East to find, great location and a lovely holiday.
The peace and quite to enjoy the weather and the hot tube
We had a lovely week stay at 4 Water Edge and would definitely recommend it. We loved the site and was peaceful, well maintained site and quiet. It was within easy reach of places to visit in the car. We sadly did not get chance to use the onsite restaurant as it was booked during our stay. We would definitely return and stay again at this property. It was well stocked although a few more cups and plates would be good to save having to put dishwasher on so much. The tin opener was missing but this was soon replaced by onsite staff. On the whole the cabin was clean and tidy although we did find a couple of items from a previous visitor which is a bit of shame in the current climate. Having the hot tub was lovely and this was clean and well maintained during our visit and we made good use of this. Was lovely to sit watching the ducks and fish from the hot tub. The ensuite shower could do with fixing as this leaked everywhere. We will definitely be back and have already recommended this place to some friends and family.
I was very disappointed the soft furnishings it said these would be removed, they were not, and were themselves in a very sorry state i. E stale smelling very grubby looking and at these very difficult times with COVID I was not entirely sure how clean the lodge actually was, even though it looked very clean had that feeling lurking the whole 7 days The lodge itself and the surroundings were spot on Although the balcony decking surrounding over the lake was patched up you could not take your eyes of my grandson and it did say this lodge was child friendly I would use skyescottages again though
This was our 6th time to the resort. I just wanted to call out that the lodge was spotless which was very reassuring in the current times. We also ate dinner in the restaurant and felt very safe as the staff were taking the required precautions with PPE etc. A big well done to all the team at Stonerush lakes!
The onsite barrestaurant is lovely. All the staff were really pleasant & helpful. Special credit to Lauren!
The lodge is located in a very pretty secluded location in the middle of nowhere. It is situated on the edge of a lake surrounded by trees for privacy. The interior is modern with good quality furnishings and kitchen appliances, although the master bedroom mattress is in desperate need of replacement. Outside there is a lovely decking area although not totally secure for dogs where you can feed the fish, ducks and birds. The hot tub is private but again needs attention as many of the jets are broken but it was clean and hot. There are walking opportunities and our dogs loved their walks. There are no local eateries and the nearest shop is some distance away so we ate in the onsite restaurant on five occasions. We sampled most of the specials on offer which didnt change during the week we were there. The starters and mains were generally of excellent quality, beautifully presented and reasonably priced however many dishes were served with chips, another option would be welcomed. The steak is the best we have tasted. There is a limited takeaway option for those that would like to eat in their lodge. Unfortunately the restaurant was let down by the dessert menu. Although stunning in appearance I believe they were frozen bought in offerings, lacking flavour and expensive for what they were. They remained in the display cabinet for many days so a little offputting. This is a lovely retreat if you want total peace and tranquillity and like travelling.
Thomas
Waiting for a part for the boiler, had to keep adjusting the start up button for hot water which kept going off could not have heating on at same time. Broken light hanging down over the shower, handle broken off shower control, leaking water from shower door onto bathroom floor, mould on bathroom ceiling over shower. Beds need toppers can count the springs in the mattress. Used washing machine but could not use dryer so could not wash towels so, glad we were only there for a week. The light was repaired straight away, the park and facilities were great staff very friendly restaurant very good.
The lodge was beautiful very spacious and everything was clean. There was lots of thing provided in the kitchen which is always realy good as this is something I have found a problem in some self catering places. The view from the balcony was better than the photos and so peaceful and relaxing. The neighbors were not too far away but the balcony was realy private and not at all overlooked. I took my dog with me and walked around the site a few times during our stay and the whole place was realy beautiful and peaceful I will definitely be staying again and have already had lots of friends asking where it was from some of the photos.
Absolutely spotless . Well appointed. Beautiful location
