Kestrel Cottage Reviews

Miriam
Our stay at Kestrel Cottage was simply unforgettable. The blend of luxurious comfort and breathtaking natural surroundings far exceeded our expectations. The cottage was tastefully decorated and thoughtfully equipped with every detail from the cozy beds to the highquality amenities. The tranquil location offered the perfect escape, and the panoramic views of the Scottish Highlands were stunning. The hospitality of the hosts was outstanding, providing us with great recommendations for local excursions. We highly recommend this cottage and cant wait to return for another stay!
The owners have created a luxurious cottage in the country side. The location provides wonderful vistas of the rolling hills, but is not far from towns, beaches, golf courses, river and forest walks. This is one of the best cottages we have experienced. The cottage, the facilities and wonderful owner exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend this to couples and families with dogs.
On arrival, the fire was lit and we met the owner who gave us some great information on the local area along with a map of places that are worth visiting. The location is absolutely stunning and the wildlife around the area kept us entertained every day. Buzzards, Red Kites and the name sake, Kestrels, were seen regularly on a daily basis. The cottage is stunning. An excellent conversion, very comfortable with everything you need for your holiday. The hot tub was also a hit. I would recommend the cottage to everyone. Thank you.
Perfect in every way x

The log fire was lit on our arrival. this was a lovely touch making the cottage feel welcoming. The local area is beautiful and the host shared valuable local knowledge and ideas of places to visit. We highly recommend, we would love to return in the future.

What a wonderful place Kestrel Cottage is! Outstanding setting, beautifully restored and everything thought of. Mackie contacted us before we arrived so we had all the details, the fire was on when we got there, hot tub ready and an amazing welcome pack! The cottage was immaculately clean and had everything and more than we needed. Whilst Sutherland is brilliant for a holiday, this cottage really made it for us, a real home away from home. We got stuck in an Amber weather warning one day, and were blissfully unaware snuggled up in the warmth and comfort of Kestrel cottage what a place, cant recommend enough thank you!!
Dear Kestrel Cottage Team thanks a lot for the friendly welcome and hospitality during our stay. This Cottage is a nice place to spend holidays with dogs in the nature and ideally for excursions in the Highlands or to the coast. It is very nicely furnished, nothing is missing in the equipment, even the dogs are thought of. Thank you very much. We will be happy to come back. Greetings from Switzerland

Perfect base for exploring
We had a amazing week at Kestrel Cottage. From the welcome pack , suggestions of places to visit , the cottage , views & weather , just perfect. Highly recommend the cottage. Never been up into Sutherland area , just stunning. If I had a tiny piece of feedback ,it would be use to have some fans to cool the bedrooms at night . The Scottish midget like a couple of us , so opening the window wasnt a option . This did not spoil anything, we loved the cottage and hospitality from our host , thank you
Gilbert

Kestrel cottage was an absolutely immaculate property provisioned with absolutely everything you could possibly need during your stay. The owner additionally left a gift basket with some treats in it which was a really nice touch. Kestrel Cottage is an absolute delight perfect combination of thoughtful furnishing to be attractive, comfortable and practical. Definite adherent to the William Morris principle of 'Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be beautiful or believe to be useful'. Loveliest cottage Ive ever rented.

Kestrel cottage was a really amazing place to stay. The cottage completely exceeded our expectations and the views are breathtaking. We were 4 adults on our stay and we were more than comfortable. We had everything we needed. Mackie and Eimear were fantastic hosts. A slight issue with the TV in one of the bedrooms was fixed really quickly. The fireplace was one of my favourite features as well as the hot tub of course! Its a really remote location so a car is definitely necessary but the location is really great to explore the west coast which we did and thoroughly enjoyed. Were already planning when we can get back. Cant recommend highly enough, we all had a fantastic relaxing holiday. Thanks you Mackie abs Eimear.
Beautiful cottage, tastefully renovated and very comfortable. Set in a stunning location. Very dog friendly with secure garden. The owners were extremely helpful especially when we had a break down in our vehicle. Special thanks to them for their assistance and making our stay so enjoyable.
Hayley

Daniel
Truely amazing cottage and place! Mackie and his wife were great hosts and gave us some great tips for trips
Absolutely fabulous cottage with everything thought of that you could need. Mackie also provided some great recommendations of things to do whilst there which made the stay even better. Our faves were Durness beach, walk up to The Mannie, walk along the beach from Brora to a beachfront waterfall and seeing the grey seal colony there too, Ynot cafe in Thurso, seafood shack at Dornoch beach, The Pier cafe at Lairg, Balblair woods and Loch Fleet..... But most of all....... The Views!!!!!!!! Couldn't recommend the area or the cottage highly enough.
Kestrel cottage was absolutely fantastic. Finished to the highest standard and spotlessly clean. Mackie, Eimear and their family and friendly, welcoming, informative and fantastic hosts. Will definitely be returning to this magnificent cottage in the most majestic part of our beautiful country
