Old Post Office Reviews

David Royston
Wow what a fabulous holiday home and one of the best we have ever stayed in. From the moment you enter the Old Post Office, you quickly become aware of its beautiful decor, luxurious furnishings & spotless cleanliness. With a superb 'welcome' hamper of goodies & fresh flowers, Kerry & Emma have thought of everything you may need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The location is truly rural and so quiet yet ideally situated to visit the many attractions in beautiful Dorset.
We were absolutely delighted when we arrived at the Old Post Office. It is a beautiful cottage both inside and out. The attention to detail from the owners was excellent, even down to a welcome pack for not only us, but the dog as well, and flowers and Halloween decorations. We had everything we needed and more for a very comfortable stay. Loved the outdoor space and hot tub and the provision of lots of towels. The kitchen is beautiful and provided us with a space for family cooking and eating. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Ieuan and Pam

We very much enjoyed our stay at Old post Office. The house is very welcoming and extremely comfortable. Everything has been thought of. Even our dog was made very welcome with a special box of bit and pieces just for him. We hope to return to continue to explore beautiful Dorset in the near future. Many thanks
Robert
We had a wonderful stay at the Old Post Office. Everything that we could possibly need for our stay was provided together with information and instructions. A basket of goodies and flowers greeted us on our arrival which was a lovely surprise, together with a note from the owners. We certainly hope to return..

This is the best holiday house we have ever been to, it was absolutely wonderful. The location is peaceful and calming, the garden is perfect and private and the house is just beautiful. The thoughtfulness and little details such as the little labels around the house, the extra hot tub towels, the clear instructions for everything. The owners really have made this an incredible place to stay. Thank you Kerry and Emma for the best UK holiday weve ever had. You have the best taste and have created a very special experience.
Such a lovely cottage. We enjoyed a very nice week here in Dorset. The facilities at the cottage were excellent. Everything had been thought through and communication for into such as local fish and chips for the Friday night was brilliant. We couldnt find the path to the pub but this was probably our fault as we got lost. Lots of Local places to visit. Would recommend.
The property is stunning. It has been thoughtfully set up to give comfort to everyone adults , babies and dogs.

Absolutely wonderful property in a lovely locationthe best Sykes cottage we have stayed invery well equipped and thoughtful touches that made our stay wonderfuland we really appreciated the communications and fast response when we had a small problem and a questionthe owners are local, and clearly care deeply about the property, and I hope we will be back soon!
We had a very enjoyable time staying at the Old Post Office. The house is very well equipped and comfortable. The welcome hamper was excellent and the attention to detail was wonderful. We highly recommend a stay at the Old Post Office and we will definitely be booking again.
The owners have created a beautiful home. The attention to detail, not just in the decor but also in the level of equipment throughout have made it such an enjoyable and relaxing stay. The property is of a very high standard and very clean. We would thoroughly recommend a stay at this lovely holiday home.

We were two couples and a dog staying for a week at the beginning of June 2024. The Old Post Office was immaculate a wonderful place to stay for the week and the property has been exceedingly well thought out for the convenience of a short stay. Loads of thoughtful touches around the house which were really impressive. Also, its obvious that the owners are dog owners and loads of small dog friendly touches as well. We had a minor niggle early in the stay, but I must say that the owners, Kerry and Emma, were responsive, attentive and resolved the issue promptly. Its clear to us that Kerry and Emma are rightly proud of their property and the experience they provide, and serious about making sure their guests have a wonderful time. We did have a wonderful time and can highly recommend. Thank you Kerry, Emma and Sykes Cottages. In the words of the renowned poet Arnie.. Ill be back!

We had a lovely week at the Old Post Office which is well located for exploring Sherborne and the surrounding countryside and not too far from the south coast. Its a very quiet location, but easy to get to. Several good pubs close by for eating out. The house has been beautifully renovated and looks very smart a really nice amalgamation of old feel and modern facilities. The welcome hamper was a really nice touch and full of delicious foods. All the numerous thoughtful touches from excellent kitchen equipment, to hottub towels, and the dog accessories they make for a really comfortable stay. We really enjoyed our stay, the fantastic weather, and the friendly local people. Would highly recommend
Andrew
A lovely cottage in a peaceful village. Beautifully decorated with plenty of unique touches and a garden for dogs with a great hot tub. Would highly recommend for groups or families!
Richard
We had a great week in the Old Post Office, it was very comfortable and was clear lots of care and attention had gone into the recent refurb, both from the perspective of how the cottage is set up to the little things that make for a relaxing and enjoyable week away. We were impressed when we first walked in and all of us enjoyed our stay, even without the weather to make full use of the garden and hot tub! Wed love to be back when we next visit Dorset.

Dorset Teddy Bear Museum - DT1 1JU
about 11 Miles
This family orientated museum is dedicated to Teddy Bears both old and new Edward Bear and his family of people sized bears are one of the main attractions.  You can buy teddy bear gifts from the quaint shop including top notch brands.  The Steiff Teddy Bear and Merrythought bears are very popular.  Open 7 days a week all year round (except 25th and 26th December) this is a perfect all weather place to visit.
Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park - DT2 8PY
about 11 Miles
Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park is a magical place to visit with grand gardens and plenty of animals to meet.  From goats and ponies to alpacas and pot bellied pigs this attraction is excellent value for money.  You can feel free to explore the grounds too which are especially lovely on sunny days.  You will see majestic floral displays, stone terraces, a temple and even a lake.
Monkey World - BH20 6HH
about 16 Miles
Monkey World is not only a local attraction but the work they carry out is amazing.  Rescuing and rehabilitating monkeys and assisting governments around the world to stop the smuggling of primates are just some of the purposes of the centre. You get to see the primates themselves many of which have become famous from appearing on the TV show Monkey World - a documentary about this place. Open year round we think this is one of best attractions in Dorset and you even get the chance to adopt a monkey if you choose.
Longleat Safari and Adventure Park - BA12 7NW
about 23 Miles
You may have seen this amazing attraction on the BBC1 Animal Park programme.  This is actually the first safari park outside of Africa where you can get close to the animals from the comfort of your own car. Some of the highlights include the zebras, the wallabies in wallaby wood and the sea lion escorted cruise to Gorilla Island.  And of course the magnificent lions and tigers are a must see.  This really is an animal experience with a difference and you can save money by booking your tickets online.  This attraction is open until the end of October. Check out their website to see some fantastic video podcasts of the park.
Loch Lomond Sealife Centre - G83 8QL

Top attractions include the amazing shark tunnel, the rock pools and the otter enclosure. This year Loch Lomond Sealife Centre is also home to Cammy - the only Giant Sea Turtle in Scotland! The centre also offers visitors an educational experience with talks and hands on events taking place daily.
