The Stables Reviews

William
Small and cosy, great facilities, very comfortable bed, well the hot tub was superb, quiet location and the views were outstanding. I've got a feeling I will be doing it again.
Sharon
This little gem has everything you need for a peaceful & relaxing getaway. Highly recommend & we definitely visit again soon.
The little cottage was pretty much exactly what we expected, it had a few little faults but was generally very comfortable. The setting was fantastic and very very peaceful. The views over the surrounding area were beautiful. We could see and hear the West Somerset Steam Train in the distance most days.
Charlotte
After day one, hot tub didnt seem clean and had things floating Very disappointing Apart from that, lovely stay
The Property is ok for 3 or 4 days, it's fairly clean, but reading the visitors book there were things that needed attention. 1 the cooker door wouldn't open, my wife couldn't open it, I yanked it heavily and the whole cooker moved before the door would open. 2 the light in the shower is hanging down
The cottage was in a beautiful area with great views in a secluded area just what we were searching for! We stayed for a long weekend and left feeling sad we hadnt booked longer. This really was a great experience, as my partner quotes a home away from home. We enjoyed the hottub so much and really felt relaxed after returning home. Great open set up inside with everything you could need. Our only recommendations not complaints as had a lovely stay would be a sign for gate entrance and note on the directions online as we struggled finding it at first, a little bit of maintenance with the lights in the bathroom and outside and finally a little net for the hot tub as it can get quite abit of dirt inside if you are hopping in and out of it. Again we thank Andy the owner for the wonderful stay and have already recommended our couple friends!
Patrick
The stable is a comfortable holiday venue in idyllic surroundings. The occasional whistle and chuff, chuffing of the nearby heritage steam railway adds to the magic.
Stephen
A perfect location, no noise or light pollution so fantastic sleep. All you could need in a cottage. Food in pubs brilliant, especially Bicknoller Inn. Thank you Andy.
Barbara Hazel
We loved our stay at The Stables and so did our dog Anika. The views were outstanding and the hot tub sublime! This will definitely be on our list to revisit for a romantic getaway.
This was a 21st brithday treat for my granddaughter. Her and her partner had a wonderful time. They said the views were amazing, and the property was situated in a perfect location for them. They loved the hot tub and the cottage, and were very peased with their stay. I intend booking this for myself soon.

We had a wonderful stay at The Stables. The view was incredible, the accommodation both clean and comfortable. We made use of the BBQ and the hot tub on more than one occasion.
Great little find in sleepy Somerset.
Our lucky day finding this super little cottage for our much needed short break. The local supermarket had delivered our order the morning of arrival which meant straight away we could enjoy a relaxing evening in the hot tub and a great nights sleep in a comfy bed. Andy, the owner was very helpful when we girlies couldn?t work the tele out ( our fault). Walking distance onto the Quantocks so if you enjoy biking or hiking over spectacular moorland, book this very well equipped cottage, you won?t be disappointed.
This was our third time at The Stables and always look forward to returning. The cottage is very well equipped and the surroundings are fantastic with far views over the countryside. The recently new hot tub was superb and spotlessly clean. Andy the owner should be very proud of the facilities he offers at Cookley Woods.
Pauline
Better signage as to which gate for us to use. We also struggled at first to know which was our cottage apart from that we had everything we could possibly need and will definitely visit again.
Jackie
A lovely setting with amazing views. Beautifully clean with excellent facilities. Everything you need for a stay was available.
Perfect for anyone who want to relax and chill out, make sure you get all your food and drinks in. Sunset views are fantastic along with the night sky's.
Gillian
We had an excellent two week stay. The Stables was comfortable and clean with everything provided. We loved being able to hear the trains on the West Somerset Railway and visited twice. Wonderful views of the surrounding countryside.
Wow what a stunning location . Peace and quiet the whole week which Is what we wanted . The views are outstanding and cottage was comfortable . Bed was very comfy with a firm mattress . Pictures on Sykes dont do justice as its much nicer than looks and pics are a bit out of date . Secure area for dog and a cafe just around the corner . Plenty of local pubs with good food . Weather was on our side too which made it even better
Lovely, peaceful, idyllic location and what a view. Hills, stars, sunsets, rolling fields, horses, and a steam training puffing away down in the valley. Place to relax and let the cares of the world fall away. Hot tub lovely but needs updating. We highly recommend this cottage.
Me and my Fiance really enjoyed our stay at The Stables cottage. We also brought our dog with us which was lovely to be able to do and we all loved the open space around the cottage. The facilities in and around the cottage were very well maintained and clean and we especially loved the hot tub. Waking up to horses outside the window was a unique and nice experience. We will most definitely be back to the cottage! Neil and Chloe
Perfect place if you want solitude I stood in the doorway one morning and ... Perfect place if you want solitude I stood in the doorway one morning and there was no wind at all and I thought to myself this is the sound of silence everything you need for your stay in the kitchen the only thing I would say is that the sofa was very small
Andrew
Secluded and peaceful location with countryside views for miles. Accommodation was warm, cosy and spotlessly clean with everything you could need provided. Hot tub was spacious and cleaned regularly, always kept hot and ready to use night and day. Owner was friendly and on hand if needed to ensure a welcoming, enjoyable stay. Being secluded, you would need transport with pubs and shop an energetic 30 minute walk away through narrow unlit lanes. Comfortable as the settee was, it was a little snug for two.
Another great stay at The Stables with magnificent views and seclusion. Very well equipped and spotless on arrival. Very helpful owners who leave you to enjoy your break but are easily contactable should any problem arise. The Hot Tub was great during the cold but starry nights.
Joules
Beautifully scenic and serene location. Comfortable and a great based for coastal and hilly walking locations.
The property was spotlessly clean on our arrival. Andy had also called ahead and taken time to provide additional directions to the location. In addition it would be worth, if not already on the listing, providing the allocated 'what three words' from the app of same name to provide that extra confidence in finding the cottage. Totally peaceful, undisturbed and private location with brilliant scenery and a great sunset. Plenty of hot water, great shower and heating worked perfectly giving a warm sanctuary following a dip in the hot tub this time of year. Overall a very good stay despite weather being dreadful and managed to get out to local towns and villages each day. Thank you Andy
Anthony
We had a EXCELLENT holiday, our 41st wedding Anniversary. A lovely place to just chill out and get away from it all. The Host was excellent, very nice chap, very helpful. We have spoken to Andy before we left and mentioned a few observations which he took on board and has some already in the pipeline .This is a very nice ,intermit retreat that is clean with good facilities and some exceptional view's.Anybody staying here for a romantic time together wouldn't be disappointed
Georgina
This was not the fanciest place to stay, but it was very good value for what there was. Amazing views, awesome hit tub.
Angela
A tranquil 'Escape to the Country' excellent location away from it all no light or noise pollution apart from horses and sheep Good rural basic facilities within walking distance, local shop, cafes, pubs, and steam railway station with a cafe too. Very enjoyable stay thank you
Absolutely wonderful studio apartment with everything you need Views to die for and complete solitude. Hot tub was relaxing
Clifford
Fantastic location and area to stay in. lovely studio apartment which was well equipped . Host very helpful. Loved the hot tub. Would definitely recommend.
Jonathan
This is an absolutely gorgeous little place, we had an amazing stay. Key collection was exceptionally easy, Andy left us a voicemail giving us easy directions to the property and instructions and we weren't disturbed whatsoever throughout our stay. Sitting outside on the patio all you can hear is the sound of animals, the trees in the wind, and the occasional plane, nothing else. The horses in the field opposite are an absolute delight to look at. Pure bliss. We were surprised on arrival about all the little touches like full icecube trays, milk in the fridge, every kitchen accessory you could want, and spa gowns for after using the hot tub. The property itself is also absolutely spotless. You can tell the owner is really passionate about making this place amazing and that you have a great stay. Hottub and BBQ set are looking a little bit wornused now compared to the photos, but the hottub still works flawlessly and was fantastic. Other than that everything was absolutely faultless.
The Stables was a great place to stay, it was peaceful with fantastic views and lovely local walks to enjoy with our little dog. The accommodation was comfortable and included all of the household equipment that we needed. The accommodation owner Andy was easy to contact and sorted a problem with the hot water boiler immediately. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anybody looking for a peaceful and relaxing break.
Lovely comfortable place with wonderful country views, peaceful and quiet and equipped for all your needs. The hot tub is a bonus and the horses in the field next to the property.
Leanne
Booked this property based on the location, as my main activity for the Easter weekend was the Golden Retriever Experience. Property was relatively easy to get to. The entry point is the second gate, from the directions, which isn't sign posted. Everything was in good working order, the views were stunning. My only slight downside was the hottub. Not a fan of inflatable hot tubs and could've done with some TLC, the fact that it was covered was the selling point for me. Would definitely recommend the accommodation.
Super place to stay, spotless, comfortable, peaceful and amazing views! Hope to be back soon
Excellent chill out cottage with lovely views to enjoy. Our host was very friendly and helpful. Walks for the dog were not far away. All in all a brilliant week. Thank you
A true gem of a place, a must if you are looking for a peaceful getaway. ....
Joshua
Property was absolutely perfect brilliant for a weekend away to unwind. Hot tub was very nice and the robes and towels were a nice touch. Bed was comfy and really just couldnt fault a single thing. We were very unfortunate with a storm hitting on the weekend we were meant to stay here however the owner was super helpful and allowed us to reschedule which we were very thankful for. 1010
Beautiful location, perfect size and facilities. Pet friendly makes a big difference. Very much enjoyed the stay, will return! Thanks
