The Stables Reviews

Really well equipped, comfortable property. Loved the hot tub. Property is in an excellent location, very quiet but close to many beautiful places. We would definitely recommend The Stables to friends and family and would love to return.
Chiara
Only slight markdown on the listing, was that it would have been helpful to know the comprehensive rules with dogs in the property. It's listed as dog friendly, but when we got there, it was written to say dogs not allowed on furniture or upstairs at all, which was challenging, as our dog just loves to roam at home! Other than that, I cannot fault The Stables. The cottage was lovely So welcoming and extremely well equipped! Location is nice and quiet, not far away from places to walk, pubs and nearby attractions and places of interest. The only downside is you have to drive to go anywhere, as The Meetings are quite remote and on a busy road, so with young children and dogs, it is a point to mention.
Christine
We had a great stay. Beds and living room suite very comfortable. Had a small problem that was dealt with immediately, which was appreciated. Great base from which to visit some of the pretty Cotswold villages.
Excellent holiday accommodation, Fantastic location
The stables was absolutely awesome and we enjoyed our stay very much. The facilities and the hot tub were fantastic.very peaceful and very high standards all over the cottage . We would love to stay again at Christmas
Absolutely beautiful cottage, so clean in fabulous location will definitely go back. Ideal with your dog great fenced garden.
Would have preffered a king size bed.
We had a fantastic holiday at The Stables, the location is perfect , cottage is spotless and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The enclosed garden is lovely and perfect for the dogs. A real home from home and Julie & Jo make you feel very welcome, I would definitely recommend this property
One of the best cottages we have stayed in. Super location for exploring a new area. Excellent walks from the cottage door. Great for dogs. The hot tub was a good size and a nice treat after our long walks. The tea and coffee etc was very handy. Lots to do in the area. If going with dogs I recommend The Cotswolds Wildlife Park.
Karoly
Beautiful property, spotless clean, the kitchen items and utensils was very thought out, everything was available that you would need to cook with. Log burner was great for when it dropped cooler in the evening, and the hot tub was lovely. Lovely looked after cottage, we will be returning.
Jessica
We had a great stay at The Stables. It is remote so perfect if you want to get away from it all. The hot tub is lovely! It was clean and warm upon arrival. The property itself was very clean, kudos to the people who give it a thorough clean. When we arrived, we were greeted with Prosecco and goodies which was lovely! The Christmas tree was such a lovely touch too, set the festive scene. The kitchen is well equipped, you just need to explore it to find what you need. Everything is modern and works well. I would say there needs to be more drinking glasses though, there were only 2 in the property. The heating is new and works quickly so we were warm all the time. The shower is warm and powerful, there isnt a bath so if youve got kids, be mindful of this. There were only 2 towels so we did have to do a wash, it may be worth proving a few more especially for those using the hot tub. We used the main bedroom and Ive got to say, we didnt sleep too well. The bed is too small. Its a double but you could very easily get fit a king size in there. My partner isnt the smallest so we felt so cramped. The bed frame is also really squeaky so if youre a fidgeter like me, you do risk waking the other person up. The mattress itself was good. The pillows were thin so we did have to take more from the spare bedroom. I really do think upgrading to a king size would make the stay much more enjoyable, Im sure most guests wouldnt mind paying a bit extra for a larger bed. As a side note, the hairdryer doesnt work properly, it cuts out after a few seconds. Overall we had a lovely stay and it was wonderful being able to take our dog. The property is modern and stylish. We did call the hosts once to work out the fire and they were friendly and quick to answer. Thank you for a lovely week
Rebecca
Lovely cottage in a great location for exploring Cotswold. King size bed would have been better. Heating system that is in the main bedroom in its own cupboard woke us in the night. Down stairs wc had an horrendous smell, which we contacted the owner about my husband is a plumber so able to guide owner what the issue was They got a plumber out the next day. We still feel issue hasn't been rectified as there is still a smell, not as bad but still awful. Shower also needs looking at, the water pressure is poor so not a great shower. We did clean limescale off to get the head to run a bit better. Also when using any facilities upstairs the water noise is rather loud throughout. Plumbing really needs looking at. Garden could do with a storage box for the furniture cushions. We were so lucky with the weather that it would have been nice to be able to sit on the furniture, however due to cushions being wet, this was not possible. It would be easy enough for holiday makers to put cushions away when not using furniture. However we had a lovely stay. Thank you.
Nice and tidy. Good location. Kitchenware needs a bit of a refresh.
Second visit to this cottage. Ideal for visiting Oxford and Blenheim Palace, this was the idea of trip and I bought my 2 friends to area for first time. The hot tub was a lovely wind down from all our walking and visiting. Cottage just right and relaxing and we enjoyed watching baby house martins being fed and leaving their nests.
Well equipped, very clean and comfortable. Great location and extremely pleasant hosts.
Had a really lovely stay with our 2 children and our dog. The Stables was lovely inside and out. It was clean and comfortable the perfect base for seeing The Cotswolds and surrounding areas. Loved the hot tub and also the little welcome bottle of wine was a real treat!!
Charlotte
We had a really enjoyable stay! The cottage is perfect for what we wanted and had all the facilities we needed. The hot tub was great and it was near to local attractions such as Diddly squat farm and Bourtononthe water. I would definitely be interested in visiting again!
Sheila
Everything was fine and as expected. The only downside was that the hottub was not hot enough to use when we arrived. It took hours to get anywhere near enough lukewarm to use on the day of arrival.
Rebecca
Absolutely beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. The cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable with a lovely garden for the dog. The hot tub was an amazing bonus! Everything was perfect with our stay and we would love to return one day.
Jessica
Lovely cottage, great location. Will definitely be back!
Cottage is fantastic, clean and comfy beds. And lovely hot tub too, although the jets only appeared to be working on the far side, we just kept swapping around! Oh, and a lovely welcome gift upon arrival. Situated in a very peaceful location, near so many quaint villages and historical towns. Perfect middle point for me and my 2 friends to meet up from different parts of the country. The owners, I felt, were not so professional. We were a towel missing, rectified upon notification to owners with a rather small bath towel. I feel the parking allocation should be signposted as to who should park where for the 3 properties available. Was asked to move one of the cars as there were 3 in our party, but next door only had 1 car. So my car could have been left on the car park by the bin shelter. Told to park on an overspill plot of muddy grassland. Where when I attempted to move it it got stuck due to rainfall, I eventually managed!
We had such a lovely weekend at The Stables! Everything was spotless and so cozy, it was the perfect place for a relaxing weekend away, thank you!
The cottage was lovely and we would happily come again. The hot tub water seemed to need a little attention, but nothing major. Overall a great stay and we had a lovely break
Stephanie
We had a lovely stay at the stables. The cottage was cosy and had everything we needed for a familygirls weekend with my sisters collies. We enjoyed the hot tub and spent most of the weekend chilling, we even booked a massage! We would like to go back again and do more exploring of the local area. Dog owners just note that the garden fence is not very high if you are taking a dog that likes to jumpescape.
Alison
A fabulous property. Very clean, warm, comfortable and in a quiet area. Added bonus of a hot tub. It had everything we needed and we would most definitely stay again. Great communication with the hosts.
A very well equipped cottage that was perfect for our family Christmas. The village and surrounding area is lovely, quintessentially English. We enjoyed the hot tub on Christmas and Boxing Day. The cottage was cosy and warm and the owners came to see us early on to check we had settled in ok. They told us about the Boxing Day hunt gathering in Chipping Norton which was fun to see. We would definitely recommend the cottage and area and hope to go back.
Cottage was very comfortable and relaxing just what was required. The hot tub was a lovely added addition.
The fences around the garden are only waist heigh making it very overlooked by both the other guests and the owners whos house is at the bottom of the garden, also can see right into the owners bedroom from the top floor. Dog owners be warned although advertised as dog friendly on arrival the rules are stated that dogs cant go upstairs or on the furniture so I wouldnt class this as dog friendly. The garden is secure though so was safe. Hot tub was nice although you are looking out into the car park as people arrive which was weird. The cottage itself was lovely and clean and kitchen well equipped although missing a little bottle of milk and tea bags for when you arrive but did have a bottle of wine waiting. All in all we enjoyed our stay and the location is fab for exploring all the villages of the Cotswold and close to Bicester village for shopping!
Shelley
Such a lovely cottage, everything was clean, neat and it was the perfect getaway for us. We will definitely be keen to come back again.
Had a wonderful stay! Cottage is beautiful and very clean. Great to have an enclosed garden and hot tub. Such a quiet setting and lots of lovely countryside to explore!
Can't fault the cottage as it is finished to a very high standard and cleaned to a very high standard also. Only thing I would say is that blackout curtains could be considered but this did not bother us as we weren't there to sleep in. Cottage is overlooked by owners property but nothing a couple of tall plants couldn't sort out in the garden. This did not particularly bother us either as we were only there for a few days. The locals seem to hare down the country lane which runs alongside the property at quite a pace so maybe the property could be gated at the main entrance just in case children or dogs venture out of the gated gardens. Apart from that fab property and location. The local pub is a real gem. Falkland Arms which is 30mins on foot or a couple of mins in car. Great bolt hole to venture out to the rest of the cotswolds. Happy customers!!
From the moment we stepped through the front door, it felt like a home from home, clean, very dog friendly with the added bonus of a hot tub. Beautiful location.
Lovely barn conversion in a great location for exploring the Cotswolds.
Lovely cottage very relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Sophie
What an absolute gem of a cottage. It was clean, warm, perfectly equipped and the owners had even taken the time to decorate it for the festive period!! We will definitely be back, we didnt want to leave!!
Michael
We absolutely loved our stay, so did the dogs! We had everything we needed, the hot tub was easy to use. The cottage was very clean and the free use of the EV charger was fantastic. We will definitely be visiting again. Only negative points we have, but it's just our personal preference. The bathroom towel are a bit small, the kitchen knives are blunt from the glass chopping boards. Plastic or wooden would be better my partner is a chef.
I didnt know what to expect, to say I was pleasantly surprised is not enough. I cant thank you enough for giving us a home from home. Fabulous place to celebrate a 40th birthday. I will definitely be booking another holiday with yourselves!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week's holiday in The Stables and hope to return there in the near future . What a beautiful part of England !
Claire
Cottage was decorated and equipped to an extremely high standard. World 100 per cent recommend this cottage

Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens - OX18 4JP
about 15 Miles
This has to be one of the most popular days out in Oxfordshire and is sure to appeal to nature lovers, animal lovers and keen gardeners.  Families and couples will enjoy wandering around this amazing park with a wide variety of mammals and birds to see as well as reptiles. Some of the most popular animals are the Burrowing Owl, Dexter Cow, African Pancake Tortoise and the Bar Headed Goose.  Check out their website for the latest admission costs and special offers.
Catanger Llama Trekking - NN12 8LJ
about 18 Miles
This is a really unique attraction and certainly worth a visit in our opinion.  Established in 1995 and situated in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside this attraction will appeal to those looking for something a little different.  You can't ride the animals but you can trek alongside them and enjoy the fantastic scenery.  From farm tracks to country lanes the gentle animals will carry your rucksack for you along the way.  There are personally guided treks available all year round and you will have your own Llama for the trek.
Old Dairy Farm Centre - PO30 2NB
about 23 Miles
Suited to families with children of all ages this is a fantastic attraction in Northamptonshire.  There are many special events held throughout the year so don't forget to check what's happening while you are staying in the region.  Some highlights include the lambing weekends and the monthly local food fayres.
Old Dairy Farm Country Shopping and Craft Centre - LE14 3PF
about 23 Miles
From shopping to home cooked refreshments this is a wonderful day out in the pretty village of Upper Stowe.  You can enjoy amazing views over the Northamptonshire countryside and wander around the complex of stone built farm buildings.  Each building houses something different such as the Occasions Florist, Itsy Bitsy Gifts, Hayrack Gallery and Sheer Delights Lingerie.  When it's time for a rest the Barn Restaurant and Tea Room is the place to go.  There is a small selection of animals at the centre too which younger children will love.  They currently have two Kune Kune pigs, sheep, hens and ducks.  If you are looking for upmarket holiday accommodation in the Northamptonshire area then the luxury lodges at Wicksteed Park are sure to impress.
Farmer Gows - SN7 8DA
about 24 Miles
Farmer Gows is a recommended attraction in the Faringdon area of Oxfordshire and will be especially suited to families with young children.  The little ones will love coming to see the farm animals including pigs, cows and lambs.  The meet the animals session takes place every day and includes handling the animals, walking the goats, feeding the pigs and cows and egg collecting.  Look out for special seasonal events throughout the year such as the Halloween Party, Lambing and children's workshops.  The latest news from the farm is that they have some Saddleback piglets and Speckledy chicks arriving shortly.
Pendon Indoor Model Village and Railways - OX12 8EA
about 24 Miles
This is an all weather attraction in Abingdon, Oxfordshire which will appeal to all ages.  The model trains are fascinating to watch and we love the model village in the Vale Scene.  The exhibits have been well thought out and it's a pleasure to wander around this museum looking at everything on offer.  You can be assured of a warm welcome from the moment you arrive and for kids and adults alike this makes a fun and educational day out.
Avon Leisure Cruises - BS8 4EB
about 25 Miles
Avon Leisure Cruises offer a relaxing way to spend an afternoon exploring the beautiful river and the sites all around it. The trips have commentary to point out places of historical importance and interest and are educational as well as fun. During school holidays the area is very popular with tourists and with families and daily activities can be enjoyed.
