Hillcrest Croft Reviews

While we did enjoy our stay, there were a few issues that I had. When we were packing to leave we found dirty pairs of children's underwear under the bed in the small room, There were trip hazards in some areas of flooring where it felt like panels were falling creating holes... The hot tub was comforting but was also falling apart, the filter just kept floating away resulting in many bugs floating around as well as many jets and seat cushions being broken. From the hot tub While I am writing about these issues they. Did not ruin our stay we still had a lovely time we just wanted to make you aware so the could be fixed
Lovely accommodation, host was very welcoming and helpful. Everything we needed was provided including a bowlful of farm fresh eggs. great watching the ponys, sheep, goats, chickens and hares while relaxing in the hot tub.

We had a lovely stay at this property the views were unreal absolutely beautiful. Its a lovely place to stay if you are looking for a peaceful place to relax surrounded by the beauty of the countryside and all the animals. My little girl loved all the farm animals. The owners are really nice they welcomed us with fresh eggs really kind people. The only bad thing I can say is the property didnt come with a microwave and the toaster was not working which is part of kitchen appliances they said in the description that they provide. Also, if you are planning on visiting with a baby the travel cot that they provided has a really thin mattress so it would be best of to take your own travel cot with a mattress I had to use a bed cover over the top to make it more comfortable for my little one. Other than that its a lovely place to stay.

Pictures do not do Hill crest farm justice. The hospitality from the owners was amazing. Children loved feeding the goats fruit and veg. Just truly magical holiday.
We had a great time at Hillcrest. Steven and Lorraine went out of their way to welcome us, nothing was too much trouble. The location was perfect, beautiful views and a well maintained hot tub to spend our evenings under the starry sky. We were lucky enough to be shown around the farm, meeting the horses and best of all the nine puppies that Penny, their black lab, had littered. Perfect for couples, families or girlie getaways. Will definitely be back.
Absolutely beautiful place and lots of lovely walks nearby. Hosts were amazing, wed definitely come back again!
Steven
Good points. The farmer and his wife such lovely people they came to show us how everything worked and even brought us fresh egg's. The surrounding are beautiful and the hot tub is great. Bad points. The log cabin lodge is a caravan covered in wood to make it look authentic. The wind was incredibly bad which nobody could control understandable, but was blowing through the windows and front door which is broken, making it very cold even with electric fires on and the noise from the wind was that bad we got no sleep. Shower cubicle is full of black mold. Above Seating area in front room was spiders and webs with insects attached. Floor in living room is collapsing near tall cabinets you can feel it as you walk over leaning. No tea coffee sugar soap every other lodges we have stayed have this on arrival complimentary. We had booked for 2 nights only stayed 1 left there at 7.30 am next morning couldn't stick it out anymore.
Fantastic location very friendly owners property clean and spacious. Lots of storage space and the hot tub was great.Fresh eggs on arrival by the owner. Good food at the Derby Arms.Booked again the day we got back
Michelle
Absolutely perfect weekend away, from the lodge to the area. .. everything was absolutely perfect..so many beautiful things to see within a short drive... blissfully quite considering it's a working farm! The perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of life...I cannot wait to return
We had a lovely stay. The accommodation was lovely, added bonus of having wifi and netflix was great for those rainy days. The hot tub was amazing with stunning views of the fell. Owners were very welcoming, even bringing a bowl of fresh eggs on arrival. Roads around are very rural and not for the faint hearted. Chipping village is about a 50 minute walk which we did and stumbled across a lovely cafe. We will definitely be returning in the future.
Caroline
Couldnt have asked for a better weekend. Really enjoyed our stay, hot tub is a brilliant touch and has a lovely view! Definitely recommend and would stay again
The accommodation was extremely comfortable and the facilities good. The hosts were helpful & very friendly. The hot tub was really well situated close to the accommodation & was easy to work. We had a really lovely stay thank you!
Lovely stay in a working farmyard. We loved the tour to see the animals thank you Lily and the fresh eggs on arrival
Christopher
Absolutely loved our stay . Beautiful lodge on the farm, and nothing was to much. Friendly hosts. The kids enjoyed the hot tub. Thank you for the fresh eggs. We will return, and we recommend. Thank you
Hannah
An idyllic place to stay. The location was perfectly described. The owners were always on hand and were welcoming and friendly. The animals on the farm were very entertaining with their antics. We all loved visiting the horses and our children were very excited to meet the new pony and new donkeys who all arrived during our stay. The accommodation was as it appears in the pictures. It was comfortable and clean. It provided us a lovely tranquil base for our family holiday. The location was wonderful and we expected to travel to visit places it was a perfect place to be able to travel in all directions to see a beautiful area of the country. A special thanks to the owners of the property and their daughter who made it really relaxed and gave us pointers for some brilliant days out.
Well what can I say besides perfect. The hostes were welcoming. Lilly she's a little diamond. Everything you need for a self catering holiday. The surrounding are a piece of paridise. The sheep goats horses and our daisy the cow were great to watch and hear. Even though in the middle of no where your 40mins from Blackpool and a hr to the lakes. On the door step some lovely little villages. Steve is full of knowledge on the area. I can't wait to go back. And a lovely gift of fresh farm eggs.
Albert
Stunning views. Lovely waking up to the animals around us and being brought fresh eggs also was such a nice touch. Hot tub very relaxing and the things to do guides were very helpful. Didnt have the best weather but still found it cosy. The hosts were very friendly and helpful also. Thank you
So peaceful. An idyllic break for my husband and I. Fab break with hot tub. Watching the animals was lovely. A working farm who gave us fresh eggs when we arrived. We arrived home so refreshed.
Debbie
We were a little shocked when we arrived as was expecting a lodge , so did not meet our expectations from the outside ,could do with a little sprucing up, once inside this was a little tired but could not complain about content as everything you needed was there, lodge was clean the hosts were very friendly and we felt very welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay , hot tub was an added extra we made use of this. Overall a very relaxing time .
Caroline
My friends and I had an amazing weekend in the lodge on this beautiful working farm. Waking up to be greeted by cows, horses and a cheeky chicken that nearly came in to have breakfast with us was fantastic
A lovely, clean lodge. Had all the facilities as described. Lorraine and her partner could not do enough for you! Easy communication and check in. Stunning views. Be aware this is on a working farm so staff and animals around we liked this however your area is private. Hot tub was delightful. 1010 stay we loved every minute. Thank you!
Joanne
The property has been nicely modernised and is well situated in a beautiful location surrounded by rolling hills. We really enjoyed being surrounded by all the animals and the hot tub was great. You were really friendly and welcoming. We would come back. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Had a lovley family break away Poppy the pony came and really enjoyed her stay. The eggs and the hot tub was the icing on top. Hopefully be back next year xx
Rohesia
Beautiful property with great views! Really enjoyed the information provided on local activities and the hot tub was amazing, even with variable weather. The animals made great entertainment for the children and fresh eggs were a delight. Owners were very helpful.
Hillcrest Croft was a lovely relaxing place, well run by great people that make you want to come back, the only down side was we only booked 3 nights. Keep up the great work.
Stacey
From start to finish we had a lovely break. The location is brethtaking and the property has everything you need, with the added addition of the hot tub, which is the perfect way to end your evening. The property is not overlooked at all, so much privacy, which is what first attracted us to it, nothing was too much trouble for the owners, Stephen and Lorraine, they were always on hand if we needed anything and were so lovely and welcoming, just another reason why our break was so nice. The fresh eggs were a really thoughtful gift and they tasted amazing. There is so much to see and do locally, or even just a short drive away, we wish we had booked to stay longer, but we will definitely back. Thank you so much for making our little family mini break one to remember for all the right reasons.
The owner of this site is tremendous. He is so caring and will help in any way he can, which is what made this holiday. During our weekend we got snowed in and he offered to go shopping for us and helped us get to the village. The holiday camp is very clean but I will say it is more of a caravan which in winter gets very cold. as the owner is so kind he left the heating on for us, when we turned it off the temp dropped dramatically so do not turn it off! Thanks, Jade.
We had a lovely time at Hillcrest Croft it had everything you need and the hot tub and views where amazing plus they gave us some eggs from the farm which where very nice. We would highly recommend.
Lovely secluded lodge. The owners were equally lovely, helpful and warm even when we got them out to show us how to start the oven at 9pm at night. Would highly recommend this lodge if you want to get away from it all. Hot tub was excellent and the views from the hot tub was just as stunning. The owners even left us fresh eggs for the morning which was a lovely touch. Best Regards Steve & Bev
Sharon
Absolutely fantastic. ..lhosts were great...provided lovely fresh eggs....lovely and clean. ..hot tub fantastic...animals on farm were friendly and lovely to see. beautiful views peaceful and tranquil would highly recommend a visit
Shipon
Lovely cosy place, friendly atmosphere! Really enjoyed our short stay and will definitely go back in the future! Hot tub great bonus!
Oliver
Steve and Lorraine went above and beyond for us on our trip. Fresh basket of eggs meant we started each day properly. The cabin, hot tub, animals and ridiculous views ensured we had a relaxed getaway with plenty to do off the farm. We will be back and can't wait to see how Steve and Lorraine develope their new projects on the farm. The Holts
Lovely stay. The family Lorraine and Steven and lily and Mary were wonderful hosts. The scenery from the hot tub was delicious. The animals were funny kept the kids really busy. Lots to do and see in chipping. It's also on a good location to visit the lakes and beaches. Deffo recommend going here. The hot tub finishes off the evening lovely.
Ashley
This place was a dream! Very clean lots of space, hot tub was great, but the views were out of this world! Nothing was too much for our Hosts! Absolutely lovely people! And the animals were lovely! Nothing bad to say about our trip at all!
Lovely setting, lovely accommodation, lovely owners. Will definitely be back
The property was very nice stunning views watching the farm animals was funny and the owners made us so welcome we would recommend staying here we will book to stay again in the future .
Would highly recommend owners were lovely with us made us feel very welcome. The views especially on a night watching the sunset whilst in the hot tub were unreal. Will definitely be back again.
We all had an amazing time and the children absolutely loved being on a working farm and the interactions they were able to enjoy with the animals. Especially a very friendly chicken, Penny the dog and Rosie the Pony! The views from the lodge are absolutely stunning and the accommodation provides lots of privacy. Steven and Lorraine are the perfect hosts and were there to give great advice on places to eat and days out. There are some fabulous walks directly from the farm and Blackpool and Morecombe are only 40 minutes away. We really enjoyed star gazing in the hot tub and will definitely be back.
Lovely owners and a beautiful peaceful location. However the accommodation was a bit too much like being in a caravan for us. We would definitely not class it as a lodges! it was always cold no matter how much heat we had on, the lounge fire was ineffectual. The van did not feel overly clean, particularly the floors, the shower room and toilet. That said it is comfortable enough for a short break and the fresh eggs from the farm was a nice touch. The hot tub is also fab with stunning views whilst relaxing.

Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 16 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 21 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 29 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
