Skyfell Reviews

Great property, highly recommend
Really nice and well kept property and would 100% visit again. The house is great and so are the soundings. The owners were also really great, leaving us a welcome basket which includes prosecco and responded quickly when messaged with a question about the hot tub. Thank you
Amazing
We rented this property for my husbands 60th and we weren't disappointed. This cottage is absolutely amazing. Every room has its own touch of luxury. Master bedroom is out of this world. Kitchen is equipped with your every need. Hot tub was heated by logs which plenty are provided and 6 people can fit in comfortably. Cottage is located right on the edge of reservoir and every room had an amazing view. We all were disappointed we had to leave. I would definitely return. If your staying for a week I would maybe arrange to get your shopping dropped off when you arrive as the road to the cottage isn't the best to be travelling every day up and down on unless you have a 4x4 but this didn't put us off at all as its well worth it.

Wow, what a fantastic break in a truly stunning spot! The quality of the property, the incredible location, the warm welcome and wonderful service from host Gerry made for a very relaxing break. As stunning as the location is, the pictures really dont do justice to the interior of the properties. We stayed at Skyfell, but were fortunate to be shown inside the cottage and barn by Gerry. Theyre all fabulously furnished to a very high spec and as theyre on a remote, private peninsular have spectacular views over the reservoir. If peaceful solitude and quiet sanctuary is your thing, then look no further. Our dog Barney would agree too! Thank you so much Gerry! We really couldnt recommend Skyfell and Grimwith Cottages highly enough and will definitely be returning ASAP. VaughanLuke, Julia & family Barney
WOW!!! What a fantastic place to stay, I cant recommend skyfell enough. We was lucky enough to spend new year here and it couldnt of been any better. Jerry was there to meet us to talk us through a few things and leave his number if we needed anything. Top guy couldnt do enough for us. Will definitely be returning if were lucky enough to get booked in
A lovely refurbished farmhouse on the edge of the reservoir. The house was cosy, clean and whilst the beds were bit too soft it was very comfortable. If you are looking for a place to escape from the world then this is it, you really can shut the door, leave the world behind and listen to the bad weather and feel safe and snug. The kitchen is very well stocked with utensils and even cooking equipment you wouldn't've think it would have. A lovely dinning room which can fit about 10 people and a lovely living room with open fire. A very relaxing place, Jerry and Hayley are easily contactable, we did have an issue with the power which wasn't a fault of the owners and it was resolved quickly. A lovely remote, relaxing place and if you like walking then there are some lovely walks. We had a lovely time and would go back.
We stayed in this gorgeous Cottage the first week of December. The house is beautiful, clean and decorated to the highest standard. Its warm, cosy and spacious. We had the best time here at Skyfell it has everything you need and more and the welcome basket full of goodies was received with thanks. The views and walks around the reservoir are stunning and there was so much wildlife in the area owls, pheasants, grouse . Gerry the maintenance guy is around if you have any questions about the local area or history on the property he tops up your wood for the fire burners and keeps the hot tub burning if required. A genuine nice guy who's happy to help with any requests a real asset the properties. Theres no noise or light pollution at Skyfell , and if youre looking for a cottage where you can fully relax and enjoy quality time as a family this is the perfect place. We cant wait to go back. The highest of recommendations!

The cottage was absolutely beautiful, even more amazing then the pictures as it was so spacious. It was incredibly clean and although some general wear and tear it was still very well kept. Incredible welcome package on arrival, which was so lovely as I was away for my 30th Birthday. The views were incredible and location couldnt have been any better! The person managing the property, Jerry was really kind ensured to ringtext and offered support if needed. Was an incredible stay, can not recommend enough.
Richard
A wonderful place to stay. It really does feel like your own personal slice of paradise, the location is lovely, right on the waters edge with spectacular views all around. My wife took her paddleboard and was in her element. The dogs loved it, the 4.5 mile walk around the reservoir is straight forward enough but with our German Shepherd being 11 we only did the full circuit once but she enjoyed the shorter walks each day. The grouse and pheasant kept her occupied! The property it self was spacious and had everything we needed. Beds where comfortable and everything was clean. Good water pressure for a decent shower. Even when outside the temperature dropped to 1 or 2 degrees celsius it was warm in the house. The lounge had a lovely open fire with a great stock of logs to keep us toastie in the evenings and add to the atmosphere. A big thank you to Jerry who looked after us when we had any questions and gave good instructions to keep the hot tub hot and clean. If he was at the property for any reason he kindly stocked us up with more logs, firelighters and changed the water in the hot tup. Really pleasant chap and a credit to the property. Little things like that make the stay that bit more enjoable. We would highly recommend this property to those wanting to escape and relax. But on the days that you do want to venture our, Grassington and Pateley Bridge are 1015 minutes away and Ripon, which we thoroughly enjoyed, is just over half an hour away. Truly a great place!
Kathyrn
Absolutely love this special place. This was our 2nd stay Grimwith & 1st in Skyfell. It felt so homely, absolutely stunning and wonderful facilities yet again. Thanks to Jerry the caretaker, keeping us secure and safe in some horrible weather. I can't speak highly enough of this place. We will definitely be returning. See you next year!
Had the very best week here, special place. Thanks for everything
The cottage is absolutely amazing. Very comfortable, well equipped, smart TVs in the bedrooms with Freeview for those rainy days. The views coming down the track when you first arrive are breathtaking. Beds are very comfy and the cleanliness is second to none. Every window has the most stunning views. Hot tub is great. It's an exceptionally rural place away from everything. No traffic noise no light pollution, exceptionally quiet. Great walks right from the door. I want to go back already and I've only been home one day. Some practical things to note the track to the cottage is a stony gravel path. It is very well maintained but if you are precious about your car or have a low riding car this could be an issue for you. There are three cottages on site, all are very private but they do share a courtyard at the front might be an issue if you are taking a dog that might not like other dogs people walking past. The court yard is very secure for pets. All back garden areas are separate and very private but they are openunfenced. This means all views are completely uninterrupted but just something to think about if your dog is a runner. The cottage is right on the edge of a very deep reservoir, this means bugsmidgesgnats etc. Take bug spray for your skin, especially if you like to sit outside in the summer. Communication was great, key pick up was easy. The welcome hamper was exceptionally generous and the people that manage this cottage are so friendly and helpful. I holiday once a year in the UK and have stayed in many cottages but Skyfell has been the best place I have ever stayed. I loved it.
Catherine
What an amazing property in a fabulous location we enjoyed a fantastic week amongst the beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife the red grouse and owls a particular highlight. The generous welcome hamper was much appreciated although more coffee, tea and toilet rolls would have been even better!. We enjoyed the remote, isolated feel of the reservoir, while having so many things to do and see within easy reach. This was our first trip to the Yorkshire Dales but we really hope we will be able to visit Skyfell again before too long, it really is a magical spot.
Andrew
What a truly wonderful place to stay. A high spec property with loads of space. Well equipped. Offering absolute peace and tranquillity. The perfect place to unwind and recharge away from it all, but not so far that you can't reach a shop if you need it! Is there anything to improve? Nothing I can think of, if I was really pressed for something then I suppose I could say the beds might be a touch soft for some peoples taste but that's really it. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it or in coming back
Stunning location. Comfortable stay. Highquality and tasteful decor and facilities. Lots to do in the area.
Philip
Fabulous spot to stay for a few days, whatever the weather. House is very nicely finished and the views are great. Jerry was very helpful. Couple of things that could maybe help is the main bedroom mattress looked a bit tired, but was actually reasonably comfortable, and because it is a bit of distance to the shops stocking things like red and brown sauce would have made breakfast a bit better. A great stay that will leave great memories.
Vivien
Beautiful well equipped house in stunning isolated position, also wood burning hot tub, lots of places of interest nearby and places to walk including 4. 5 mile walk around the reservoir. Lots of interesting birds and wildlife on our doorstep. Gerry was always available and couldnt have been more helpful. Would love to come back next year
This is an awesome farm house, and we had a special week there. We were well looked after, and the location is fantastic, really remote and wonderful. The decor inside the house is super, and the beds are fantastic, so comfortable. Would go back again.
This is our 3rd visit to Grimwith, 2 times at Snave Barn and this time at Skyfell. We have had another great family holiday and will be back next year. Total relaxation. A big thanks as always to Gerry. Top tips . SPAR in Threshfield is excellent with a butcher with great kebabs etc for Barbi also fresh cream cakes. . School tearoom in Hebden excellent lunches, can book online.
What a place! We had the most incredible time far away from the masses, we really felt like we had the whole place to ourselves! Super comfy beds! Location of dreams and blissful hot tub! We were totally blessed with the weather. Nothing was too much trouble when we found a broken clothes drying rail it was replaced the next day. Our only feedback for improvement would be some tupperware boxes and containers so you can take things on a picnic, if we had known we would have taken some, but honestly this is the perfect place to escape to and we will be back! Thank you!
Deborah
What a beautiful property! So well equipped and comfortable . Genuinely cannot think of anything lacking. A fantastic welcome hamper awaited us, the house is sparkling clean and has lovely furnishings It is very remote which suited us perfectly . So many lovely places to visit nearby too We will most definitely be back!
Jordan
Picture perfect location, spacious and well maintained accommodation. Fantastic place to stay for a long weekend in the Dales.
All great, no negatives ! The lovely introduction to the accommodation by the owner, the little touches like the hamper and everything throughout the duration of our stay was fantastic ! Thank you
Charlene
Gorgeous house, Gorgeous scenery! The welcome gift basket was lovely !!
Mattresses too soft! !! Fire in lounge chimney ? Blocked, smoke in property all time
Sleeping on a cloud in the house in the middle of nowhere! Our family, seven of us, spent a long weekend at Skyfell. It is situated in the most spectacular scenery on the edge of Grimwith Reservoir, remote and very peaceful, which is just what we want. The house is spacious, but very cosy and well furnished, the kitchen is equipped with everything you need. The wood fired hot tub is an additional luxury, we loved it. The beds are comfortable my daughter said like sleeping on a cloud, the bathrooms spotlessly clean. And as if you couldn't ask for anything more, there's Jerry who was on hand to greet us, show us round and had the hot tub already fired up for us! His help with everything was really appreciated. A fabulous, memorable place, we will return!
Michelle
Amazing cottage, really clean, homely, well equipped and what a fantastic view! Gerry was really helpful, thank you for everything. We cant wait to return!
Skyfell is absolutely amazing. The location is simply stunning. There are three cottages adjoined but this in absolutely no way takes away from the isolation. Surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery to be found anywhere. The cottage itself was immaculate and is decorated beautifully. There were some supplies left for us on arrival, including a bottle of bubbly which after a long journey was well appreciated. Unfortunately I was there with a broken leg however, Jerry was so helpful and friendly and really helped us to make our stay as nice as possible. We will be back. Thanks
Genuinely skyfell is a special place. Was sad to leave and look forward to returning.
Fabulous location pure tranquility with beautiful stunning 360 deg scenery! ! The 4.5 miles walk around the reservoir is a must perfect encouragement to get healthier very refreshing! The Outdoor LogFire HotTub is a must have experience as you gaze at the scenery with a cool bottle of beer or a lovely mug of Yorkshire Tea. Inside the Skyfell Cottage gives you a sense of opulence, whether in the Dinning Room or the large LogFire Fireplace. Upstairs Master Room with a Brass BathTub is fantastic experience, especially, with a glass of wine and watching a movie. Peter is a very approachable and incredibly helpful man made us feel at home. We very much hope to return in due course.
Nathan
Smoke referred to outside from Hot Tub furnace

We had the best time for our friends 50th birthday weekend. Everything was absolutely perfect. Thank you, Charley and the gang. X
What a beautiful gown and what a fabulous host Jerry has been. So kind and so generous with dropping off bacon and danish pastrys Such a sublime experience
Awesome, five stars. Jerry was an absolute gent, perfect instructions on the hot tub. A perfect stay, we will certainly return
On arrival we were met by Jerry who had arrived to get the hot tub ready for us and explained how to use it which we really appreciated, thank you. As soon as we walked into the house we all went wow. The house is beautifully decorated with delightful and unusual items. We had the best time at Skyfell, the surroundings are stunning its so peaceful, wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you
Beautiful place, quite out of the way down a bumpy road. Excellent view of the reservoir and always help on hand if needed for the hot tub. Great kitchen facilities.
