Pant Y Rhedyn Reviews

Beautiful stay over Xmas & new year with family. Views are amazing. Very homely feel.
Firstly this property is absolutely stunning, the most idyllic views. When we turned up the place was nice and warm and a hamper had been left for us. A lovely touch. We had arrived a bit early but the keys were in the safe and property was vacant. We did need to contact the owners Adam and Laura just to ask where the fifth bedroom was as it was an annexe around the side. We used the hot tub on the Friday and when we went to go back in on the Saturday noticed a bad smell and the water had gone green. Called them out and we were asked 'what have you done, what's happened to it' It was emptied and refilled with hot water. Once it was full we went back in for a short time. On the Sunday morning we checked on it and that bad smell was back again. When they came back for a second time my friend who has a hot tub herself asked them how often the levels were checked and what chemicals were used. She was told that it was down to her 'friends' abusing it on the Friday night which is just ridiculous as it wasn't damaged. The bromine level wasn't right and it can turn the water. She was also told we hadn't showered before going in and my friend said how do you know that and was told we had said we hadn't. An absolute blatant lie as that conversation didn't happen. Our swim wear and towels had to be washed twice as we couldn't get rid of the smell. It was also mentioned to Adam that there is no lighting outside for when you get in and out of the tub. My friend slipped on the steps. There were two lights fitted but not working that I could seee. Surely there should be security lights for when people were outside. Anyway, one again the water was emptied and this time cleaned at the bottom before being refilled. A third visit was made to check on the levels. This all takes time so again we only got to use it a short time that night. We then came home the following morning. When we book these properties it's mostly because of the hot tub and not to be able to get the full use was disappointing. Moreso being called liars and blamed for the water was unfair. I feel if it wasn't for my friend knowing as much as she did and asking questions the outcome would've been different. It's a shame a bad taste has been left as this place really is gorgeous. I want to also mention a light bulb had been broken on the Friday which we offered to pay for on the Saturday but was told it was ok. The property was left clean and tidy on the Monday morning as we had found it.
Great cottage for big party. Games room is really good. Cottage was really nice and very clean with plenty of room. Laura the host was amazing as the electrics tripped during the night so we had no hot water, but Laura visited straight away the next day and got it all back working. The hot tub was great on the first night, the electrics tripped it so it was not hot for the second day so could not use. However, on the morning of leaving it was back to the correct temperature so unfortunate that the electrics tripped.
We had a lovely weekend stay here 22nd25th sept for my hubby s 40 th birthday . The cottage is beautiful the surrounding and views are beautiful . Plenty of space we were a party of 8 adults and had plenty of space . A lovely welcome hamper on arrival also. Myself and another member of the group went on a lovely walk on the Saturday afternoon. The hot tub is amazing again with stunning views. Literally in the middle of no where. And that s what we wanted ! A lovely peaceful weekend. We are going to be booking again for my birthday in February.
Hannah
Lovely place! Loads of room for a big group and the view from the hot tub is spectacular! Would stay again
Melanie
Lovely property. Comfortable and spacious. The views, gardens and location are spectacular. The hot tub is large and the view is glorious. The children and the adults loved the games room.
Lorraine
This was a real find, down a beaten track the cottage was magical and the views were to die for. We met the owners who were lovely and totally accommodating. The cottage was clean and had everything we could ask for even the weather!!! we came for a couple of family birthdays and enjoyed playing board games and splashing about in The jacuzzi which made for many a photo opportunity. If there was one criticism it would be the amount of wasps and flies, although within our group I was the only person that was stung. I know that this can't be helped and nothing at all to do with the property however we googled that peppermint oil repels them so would recommend that anyone visiting in the summerhot months take some oilspray and anti sting spray.
Jessica
WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY. Id strongly, strongly advise not to book this property. Unfortunately our stay overall was not great. We paid nearly 900 to stay for 2 nights and based on our experience, wouldnt even have paid half of this amount. There were a couple of minor issues that we werent satisfied with for the price. For example, there were 2 and a half toilet rolls in the entire property for 9 girls staying for a long weekend. We were told that because it was self catered, we should have brought our own. I personally dont believe self catered should mean you arent provided with toilet roll? Especially when youre in the middle of nowhere. Secondly the big issue we had wasps There was a SEVERE wasp problem here. Someone was unable to stay in the end because she is severely allergic and can go into anaphylactic shock. I appreciate wasps outside are out of anyones control, but after complaining, one of the owners came to take a look and agreed with us that the wasps were so bad in and around close perimeters to the property and it shouldnt be like this. He was even sometimes laughing at us running away from the wasps whilst we were trying to talk to him. They were so bad, one wasp flew straight down our friends throat and she had to make herself vomit, was in extreme pain, and 2 weeks later, she still has burst blood vessels in her eye. Another friend fell down a ledge and cut her leg because she was being pestered by them. We cant stand, walk or sit in the same place for too long. The perimeter of the house and the inside should not be infested the way it is. The house is full of them, even when we made a conscious effort to keep windows and doors shut they were still getting in. Weve noticed you have wasp killer spray in which also tells us owners were perhaps aware of the problem. We also imagine they were aware of the problem because the property was being cleaned 2 hours prior to our arrival and we strongly believe that the owners would have encountered the wasps then. This isnt the first time weve booked through Sykes cottages, it isnt the first time weve stayed in a rural cottage before and weve never encountered an infestation like this before. Were extremely disappointed that this wasnt mentioned to us prior to arrival. Like Ive already said, a friend couldnt even stay in the end. Were currently going through a complaints procedure. This has ruined the entire experience and unfortunately the owners have pretty much aired our messages since we returned home and are not prepared to take it further with us. They say its completely out of their control and seem to not care that our experience was ruined now that they have taken our money. Even though this is a freak situation, we believe this could have been handled better. Im aware if anyone books this property, perhaps in autumnwinter they arent likely to have a wasp problem. However, Id still book with caution because if you do end up with some sort of problem, from our experience, Im not confident that the owners would be willing to rectify and help to make your experience better. In fact, they may even ignore your texts when you get home like us

This was an amazing property for a get together with friends. Big space! Hot tub and views are fantastic and the little welcome pack was such a nice touch. It was in such a great location Away from the busy towns and cities and the cottage had everything we needed. Just absolutely perfect!

Fantastic views the property was amazing facilities hot tub and games room brilliant great amount of living space the both kitchen had all the equipment home from home The owner were very accommodating and a pleasure to meet
Lovely cottage, bigger than what we thought, amazing views
We had an amazing 3 night stay. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and the pictures dont do justice to the stunning gardens. Such a peaceful relaxing place to stay, we loved the view from the hot tub! The welcome basket was such a lovely touch! We loved every minute of it and would love to come back again soon.
The cottage was excellent and very well maintained. Plenty of room for everyone to have there own space if required. The views were amazing we had such a wonderful family weekend away. Would highly recommend staying there, we are looking at when we can return
This property was amazing! ! The views were incredible. We had a lovely welcome package left for us which was totally unexpected from Laura and Adam and we felt very at home. Any issues we knew we could contact them and they got back to us very quickly. It was a great idea having the welcome book too with lots of helpful information including day trips and places to eat!! Thank you for allowing people into your holiday cottage, its a great place to unwind and relax. It was the perfect spot I was looking for to celebrate my 30th birthday with loved ones. Emma

We have just had a wonderful stay at this cottage. We were a family party of 8 which included two teenage children in this group and a dog. We also hired the annex which meant there was plenty of space for everyone. The cottage was well equipped, comfortable and has spectacular views. The cottage is very remote, but with a good games room and hot tub there was plenty to keep us occupied of an evening. Highly recommend this cottage.
Agnieszka
Remote cottage, lovely hot tub and games room. Brilliant communication with the hosts, nothing seemed too much trouble. Very nice welcoming basket. The property needed some minor things but nothing at affected our trip. Property was layed out perfectly, no clutter, which was great as we were traveling with a toddler. Would reccomend and would come back, with more people next time as its a big property so great for several families or friend groups.
Abbie-
We had a great stay with 8 of us and 2 dogs. The facilities were great and the views from the hot tub were amazing. It was snowing which made it even better. The games room was great and plenty of space for 8 people. Will definitley be returning
Nicola
A lovely property, great views, great character and wonderful owners
Heulwen
Beautiful home set in stunning countryside. A great place for family get together ,with enough space and large dining area . Hot tub is over looking the views across the valley.
Rachel
We absolutely loved our stay at Pant y Rhedyn! We loved the information about the property history and the welcome basket and board was a lovely personal touch! The only thing we would say is that the pool table & dartboard could do with a bit of an update. The pool table green was slightly ripped and so we didn't really use that. Other than this, would absolutely reccomend to friends & family! Thank you!
Deborah
We had a lovely week in this beautiful cottage. It was very peaceful and relaxing. The hot tub was fantastic and when we used it after dark we saw shooting stars and the space station. My grandson loved the games room.
Stephen
There were 8 of us that stayed at the house this year. The kitchen, rooms and bedrooms were all of a suitable size to host this number and the kitchen in particular was well provisioned with cooking utensils and basic bits. The house is situated in large gardens with a woodland area around a more formal cottage garden. This garden could be superb if work was done to bring it back to its former life and after speaking to the owners, this is scheduled for later this year. Kids will love this part. The hot tub was great and has stunning views of the area and the constant red kites that flew ahead in the valley a real treat. The garden furniture could be upgraded as parts are broken but perfectly fine to use. You are around a 20 minute drive from several walks of various degrees of difficulty one on the national protected area which will take about an hour 30 and the other, around the dam which is about 3 hours long. Overall, fantastic house in a great location for nature and wildlife. Laura and Adam were also really helpful and responsive.
We had a fantastic time at Pant y Rhedyn, the cottage was lovely, the views were fantastic and the kids loved the play room. The owners were really accommodating, allowing us to push back our arrival date due to illness. The only slight downside was that we couldnt find the BBQ but we cooked everything up on the Rayburn and hob so all was well. Thanks so much for a fanatic stay and the amazing welcome basket. We will definitely be staying again
Andrew
Great views and really enjoyed the stay.
What a lovely place, what a lovely area. The rooms were individually styled and wonderfully comfortable. The local roads are, in the main, single track and difficult to navigate, not for the faint hearted! Local towns take 15 mins or more to drive to, but with great amenities, two fridges, two freezers, stock up, winddown, kick back and enjoy the stunning view from the hot tub.
Debbie
We had the best time celebrating my husband's 50th birthday at this beautiful cottage. The scenery was absolutely spectacular. The hot tub and games room were an additional joy. The cottage was well equipped with everything you needed and the welcome basket was a lovely gesture. We would love to return in the future.
Charley
A group of us stayed here for the weekend, and well definitely be coming back! The views a beautiful from the hot tub, its an easy location to find and the house is amazing. The only down side is was the Wifi as you have no signal. This was only so we could message people to let them know we arrived okay And when using the hot tub be careful when getting out because the wood you step on to is slippy
A wonderful weekend away with the family for my sisters 40th Birthday. Clean and comfortable there is very little to improve on to be fair. Kitchen incredibly well stocked, even got some baking done with the kids! I'd be happy to recommend this cottage to anyone but would recommend that you bring all your food etc with you as it's a fair old drive to the nearest shop. Lovely welcome basket on arrival, including treats for the dog which was a lovely addition. Could do with some instructions for the hot tub, everything else has been set out well in the 'house manual'. Games room was a life saver, barely saw the kids all weekend which meant more freedom for cocktail drinking All in all, a great place for a great price. Thank You
The cottage was lovely. Really was. I think the views should be advertised more because theyre amazing from the cottage. The automated light at the bottom of the stairs was quite annoying because it woke kids up each time we passed. As well as the very very creaky stairs and flooring. The coat hanger needs fixing or replacing. We ended up keeping our coats on the floor. Other than than the cottage is lovely, lots of room. The outside could have been tidier. There was advertisement of lots of garden area but really wasnt suitable for children to run around. Lots of steps and concrete around. As lovely as it is, I wouldnt take my small children there again. For adults it is absolutely ideal. We had a lovely time and hot tub was a bliss. Owners kept out of our way which we really liked. Overall we highly recommend it for adults.
This was the ideal place to have a short break while the weather was so wet and windy! The games room, hot tub, books and games meant we were well entertained. The views here are fabulous, especially at sunrise and when the red kites appear. The property is comfortable and tastefully furnished and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. I would recommend putting chicken wire on the deck of the pirate ship as it is very slippery when wet, and I found the controls on the hot tub a bit confusing no instructions, but all in all it is a lovely place and we highly recommend it.
Caroline
We had a lovely weekend and were only sorry we couldnt have had another day. I wanted a short break as my husband has been ill. Watching a pair of red kites from a bubbling hot tub while overlooking the Welsh countryside in the drizzle was a treat. We had no trouble finding the cottage despite travelling at night. Our children loved the games room and the hot tub as did we. Our only issue was the dishwasher developed a fault the one time we used it and I did text the owners to inform them.
Ffion Wyn
Lovely property, lovely setting, kids loved the wendy house, pirate ship and swings. Kids and adults loved the games room and the hot tub. Thank you for a great holiday
Robert
Beautifully appointed property in a very scenic and rural location. Fantastic views especially from the Hot Tub. Property was warm and cosy with plenty of space for the 7 of us. Really thoughtful welcom hamper on arrival which was great. Would highly recommend this property and will definitely be returning soon.
The property was more than we could have hoped for on arrival, with stunning views of the valley below. Inside the cottage it was extremely well presented with a mix of modern decor but still keeping with its traditional, original look with open fire and internal beams. We especially enjoyed reading about the history of the cottage while we were there. The welcome hamper left for us was a great touch aswell. Will definitely return at some point and would recommend without hesitation to anyone looking for a quiet, idyllic break away from their usual hustle and bustle.
Rhiannon
Amazing stay, we really enjoyed it so much. The cottage was lovely and clean, and we appreciated you being so dog friendly! So spacious, but also cosy, we had a fabulous time. Our only feedback would be, both double beds weren't that comfy, two of our party went to sleep in the twin beds mid stay and found them much better. The smart TV doesn't work so well freeview works fine there is an issue with the apps e.g netflix, iplayer and them not updatingnot allowing you to actually navigate the menu. We purchased a fire stick to use instead, but might be worth having something like this permanently for other guests especially for those visiting in winter months when it goes dark so early
Had a really lovely stay here and the welcome basket of goods was a nice touch. The hot tub was perfect to sit in and enjoy the views, despite the days it rained. It could perhaps benefit from some form of pathway to it so as not to walk across the sharp stones. The steps to climb in could also benefit from being fixed down as we found these moved when climbing in. We made good use of the games room too. Overall a brilliant holiday and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a nice relaxing break
Mustafa
Excellent facilities. Very clean and comfortable. Consider bigger bathrooms. Paddingcushion on ceiling bars as too low for long people.
Daniela
We had a lovely break with family. The cottage is located in a beautiful spot with no neighbours overlooking the valley offering plenty of space. The cottage itself and the grounds are lovely although quite remote this didnt put us off as we would go on exploring the nearby attractions and made a couple of trips to the seaside which would take approx. 50 minutes. I would highly recommend the hot tub at night as you get to see a sky full of stars.
