Cow Byre Reviews

This property was very clean and tidy. It had everything we needed and was generally really lovely. The hot tub was certainly a real treat. The only issue we had was that although dogs were allowed at the property, we were not allowed to leave them alone and we only found this out when we arrived. It didnt say this on the listing. This may not be an issue for some but for us it was important. We went for my husbands birthday so we wanted to be able to go out for a nice meal to celebrate, but this would mean taking our two dogs with us. One of our dogs isnt great in pubscafes so it ended up being quite an inconvenience for us. I understand the reasons for this rule but it would have been good to know in advance rather than when we arrived.

We had a great stay at The Cow Byre, great base to travel around the Cotswolds. The cottage had everything you needed during your stay and was very clean. We would definitely recommend to others and would look to rebook in the future.
Michael
Lovely cottage very clean and comfortable nice quiet area and a good base will definitely go back
Well equipped kitchen, lovely, secure garden with seating areas and easily accessible hot tub. Selection of board games and jigsaws . Owners friendly and on hand if needed.
Stephen
Had a wonderful and relaxing stay ideal place to go exploring.
Lovely cottage would definitely stay again
Joanna
Love this place! !
Had a very enjoyable stay at Cow Byre the property had everything you need for a good break in a lovely part of the country. Nothing negative to say at all about our stay . Visited several National Trust properties in the area and enjoyed our two visits to the Falkland Arms in Great Tew. Would certainly stay again in the near future.
Had the most wonderful stay. Cottage had everything we needed and more. Hot tub was lovely. All the little extras made it even more perfect. Thank you for a lovely relaxing break. 5 stars all round. Ian and Claire XX
Lovely cosy cottage well equipped has everything you need
Robert
We had a fantastic stay at Cow Byre, very tranquil, comfortable and clean, perfect location for us as we like walking and getting out and about. You have supermarkets and plenty of eating out places down the road in chipping Norton. I would certainly stay again and would certainly recommend this lovely cottage to anybody. Thanks to the owners 1010 from us. Thanks Sykes Cottages. From Mr & Mrs Thompson
Lovely house, pretty much in the sticks, nothing particularly in walking distance. Hot tub a great feature however the chlorine can be overpowering at times. Whilst it is understood why the beds have a waterproof mattress protector on but be warned they properly make you sweat at night which was pretty horrible and damaged our sleep. The house is missing a couple of things black out curtains in the bedrooms, more cleaning facilities very little washing soap and surface spray available but also some more baking trays for food.
Amazing cottage Facilities brilliant Hot tub by night great experience ... Amazing cottage Facilities brilliant Hot tub by night great experience Recommend to anybody who wants a peaceful break 5stars

Lovely cottage in a great location, perfect for a weekend stay. We had to ask for more towels & they were given to us straight away.
Gillian
Lovely cottage, so quiet and peaceful. Julie and Jo have done a fantastic job of converting these cottages. They are extremely functional, comfortable relaxing and tastefully furnished
Claire
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cottage! We felt right at home as soon as we got there, and the hot tub and woodfire was such a lovely bonus as we arent used to that at home. The instruction booklets and guides to the walks were very clear, we managed to fit a couple in weather permitting. The cottage was very clean and it was nice to get away from busy London life. Thanks so much again we definitely will recommend this cottage and will hopefully be back soon!
Lindsay
Beautiful cottage in a quiet, peaceful setting. Well equipped and immaculately clean. Ideally situated for visiting places of interest. Good walks straight from the cottage. Would definitely visit again
Excellent place to stay, comfortable, clean and ideal location to visit places. The low garden fence may be an issue for some but the owners have bushes, shrubs growing that help. Laying in a hot tub watching and hearing the birds was a great experience!
Richard

I had a wonderful stay! The cottage was really cute & comfortable and it was really well placed to go out & explore from, while being really beautiful & tranquil. We will definitely stay again it was a lovely break!
Fantastic, comfortable and well equipped cottage. The welcome gifts were an added bonus and the hot tub is a great to ease your achey legs after a long day walking round. Perfect location for exploring the Cotswolds and a wonderful relaxing environment. Most Cotswold tourist hotspots within 40 mins drive. Would definitely book again.
Dianna
Wonderful place to stay. Spotless accommodation, well equipped kitchen and hot tub was great. Very peaceful location. Owners nearby if needed but not intrusive. Lovely welcome gift of wine and crisps. Will definitely book again
Nicola
Very well insulated but made it very warm in the bedrooms at night. Also, some cushions for outside furniture would have been good. Lovely to receive bottle of fizz and eggs on arrival. Good information available on surrounding areas. Provision of EV charger an added bonus. Overall, a great place to stay.
Philippa
Property feels really well cared for. The hot tub was an added bonus. Excellent facilities with safe, enclosed garden which suited the dog. House and garden beautifully maintained. Thank you.
Beautiful cottage in a very quiet, peaceful area. Extremely clean inside and all the essentials needed for a break away. You would never know pets can stay here as it was so clean inside and fresh smelling. The hot tub was lovely and the owners super friendly. Highly recommended.
Stewart
Broadly a good stay in a lovely cottage. A couple of areas where things could have been better the first being the kettle which was encrusted with limescale and upon reporting this, a new was delivered by the owners at least we think it was as no introductions were made, we were annoyed as we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience and the owners had to go into town and out of their way to get one. Secondly, the high chair was absolutely filthy and not clear when the last time it was cleaned properly. Finally, there was a large overhanging palm tree in the garden next door which almost completely blocked the path to the cottage, not easy to navigate carrying a 17 month old and all of the necessary equipment.
Alison
Lovely best to stay
Lovely comfortable cottage in a peaceful setting. Very close to Chipping Norton, & very convenient for exploring the beautiful Cotswolds. The hot tub was wonderful. Owners live very close by, but were not intrusive at all. Would definitely visit again!
Richard

We had a great time at cow byre. Lovely place with everything you needed in it. Couldnt fault anything. Will definitely be back
Louise
Thank you for a lovely stay, we really enjoyed the location and the cottage, it had every thing we needed. It was exceptionally hot during our stay, which meant the bedrooms were really hot. Thank you for use of a fan for the room, we could have done with another really. Many thanks Louise and Lee
Hi. A shower mat would be helpful as I found it quite slippery
We had a lovely stay here! We visited so many places in the surrounding areas. When we first arrived we noticed the cottage was on a country lane a bit further out from the centre of the village but this wasnt a problem! We visited Chipping Norton a few times where theres some lovely restaurants and free parking. We would definitely stay again! Thank you
The house was lovely clean and welcoming and very well equipped. However its worth considering the height of the fences between the garden. They are very low even by the entrance to the properties and by the hot tub leaving no privacy at all clear uncovered trellis did little to alleviate this. This left us unwilling to use the garden when other guests were around. One of our dogs doesnt like strangers and found being able to see people over the the low fences very anxiety inducing and our other dog who is calm and chilled also found the comings and goings of strangers very over stimulating. A higher fence would have avoided a lot of this. Its a real shame as the property is really lovely but the inability of relax in the garden being so overlooked affected our inability to enjoy the weekend fully.
We had a wonderful weekend away. We will be booking again
A beautifully clean cottage, excellently situated to explore the Cotswolds. Very comfortable with everything you need provided. Our dogs loved the enclosed lawned garden, and we enjoyed the hot tub. Perfect!
Lovely relaxing holiday, house very clean, and very warm, didn't need to use the log burner. Excellent host with a lovely welcome gift

Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens - OX18 4JP
about 15 Miles
This has to be one of the most popular days out in Oxfordshire and is sure to appeal to nature lovers, animal lovers and keen gardeners.  Families and couples will enjoy wandering around this amazing park with a wide variety of mammals and birds to see as well as reptiles. Some of the most popular animals are the Burrowing Owl, Dexter Cow, African Pancake Tortoise and the Bar Headed Goose.  Check out their website for the latest admission costs and special offers.
Catanger Llama Trekking - NN12 8LJ
about 18 Miles
This is a really unique attraction and certainly worth a visit in our opinion.  Established in 1995 and situated in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside this attraction will appeal to those looking for something a little different.  You can't ride the animals but you can trek alongside them and enjoy the fantastic scenery.  From farm tracks to country lanes the gentle animals will carry your rucksack for you along the way.  There are personally guided treks available all year round and you will have your own Llama for the trek.
Old Dairy Farm Centre - PO30 2NB
about 23 Miles
Suited to families with children of all ages this is a fantastic attraction in Northamptonshire.  There are many special events held throughout the year so don't forget to check what's happening while you are staying in the region.  Some highlights include the lambing weekends and the monthly local food fayres.
Old Dairy Farm Country Shopping and Craft Centre - LE14 3PF
about 23 Miles
From shopping to home cooked refreshments this is a wonderful day out in the pretty village of Upper Stowe.  You can enjoy amazing views over the Northamptonshire countryside and wander around the complex of stone built farm buildings.  Each building houses something different such as the Occasions Florist, Itsy Bitsy Gifts, Hayrack Gallery and Sheer Delights Lingerie.  When it's time for a rest the Barn Restaurant and Tea Room is the place to go.  There is a small selection of animals at the centre too which younger children will love.  They currently have two Kune Kune pigs, sheep, hens and ducks.  If you are looking for upmarket holiday accommodation in the Northamptonshire area then the luxury lodges at Wicksteed Park are sure to impress.
Farmer Gows - SN7 8DA
about 24 Miles
Farmer Gows is a recommended attraction in the Faringdon area of Oxfordshire and will be especially suited to families with young children.  The little ones will love coming to see the farm animals including pigs, cows and lambs.  The meet the animals session takes place every day and includes handling the animals, walking the goats, feeding the pigs and cows and egg collecting.  Look out for special seasonal events throughout the year such as the Halloween Party, Lambing and children's workshops.  The latest news from the farm is that they have some Saddleback piglets and Speckledy chicks arriving shortly.
Pendon Indoor Model Village and Railways - OX12 8EA
about 24 Miles
This is an all weather attraction in Abingdon, Oxfordshire which will appeal to all ages.  The model trains are fascinating to watch and we love the model village in the Vale Scene.  The exhibits have been well thought out and it's a pleasure to wander around this museum looking at everything on offer.  You can be assured of a warm welcome from the moment you arrive and for kids and adults alike this makes a fun and educational day out.
Avon Leisure Cruises - BS8 4EB
about 25 Miles
Avon Leisure Cruises offer a relaxing way to spend an afternoon exploring the beautiful river and the sites all around it. The trips have commentary to point out places of historical importance and interest and are educational as well as fun. During school holidays the area is very popular with tourists and with families and daily activities can be enjoyed.
