Washpool Reviews

Amazing!
One of the best places we stayed Everything in the cottage is perfect and has everything you need The owners are very nice too and make you feel at home :)
Rachel
A wonderfully relaxing week in an exceptionally well equipped and comfortable property. Ideally located for exploring lovely Cotswolds villages. We would love to return.
Denise
Lovely cottage. Excellent hosts. Enjoyed the farm tour. Possibly do with better lighting in the lounge for reading etc.
It was a lovely house . Quality equipped . Nice relaxing week. Hot tub was relaxing . Central to a lot of nice places .
Amanda
The cottage itself is outstanding, beautifully furnished and decorated and has everything one could want. We loved it. The written information left at the property seemed rather out of date with nowhere to write any recommendations or tips for future guests. Although the cottage is listed as dog friendly it should be made clear that there are no walks straight from the cottage, despite that being stated on some of the website listings for this property. Dogs are permitted in the farmyard not the cottage patio. The lane outside the cottage is very very busy and there is no verge or pavement which made walking our dog first thing in the morning or last thing at night hazardous. Other than that we had a wonderful stay and would recommend to nondog owners.
Kristina
We had a lovely week at Washpool. The cottage was spacious and very comfortable, the hot tub an added bonus. The owner made us feel very welcome. We stay in this area often as we have family here and will be sure to rebook Washpool in the near future. Many thanks Kristina and Paul from North Devon
Rachell
Lovely clean, tidy and welcoming property and we even had a cream tea waiting for us. Would highly recommend as it is very central for Burford and all surrounding areas. Will definitely be visiting again!
Washpool was a delightful cottage, well equipt and very well presented. We were very grateful for the personal welcome and all of the 'gift items' scones, clotted cream, jam, doggie treats, flowers etc which were well chosen and spot on so often the things left are not to our taste. We valued the Eco influence and the locally sourced sculpture over the fireplace. It was a very stylish and comfortable place. We very much enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
Deborah
Wonderful cottage very well equipped in brilliant location. Property owners were lovely and very welcoming. We had a fantastic week despite the awful weather.
Graham
The cottage was fabulous, plenty of space for 4 adults and a Welsh Terrier. Made good use of the courtyard garden to eat out and chill. Location was very central to visit beautiful Cotswold towns. Owner gave great tip for lovely morning walk for the dog. All facilities were of a good quality with comfortable beds and sofas. Would certainly recommend.
Stuart
Can't recommend this property highly enough. It is an excellent conversion of the former stables. Timber from these stables has been carefully blended into the cottage. The furnishings and dcor in the lounge were tasteful and of a high standard. Double doors open onto a patio with garden tablechairs and log fired hot tub, which takes 2 hours to heat up. Sun loungers are available in the shed. The kitchen is very modern, well equipped and offers all the resources you require. Upstairs there are 2 large double ensuite bedrooms with king size beds. The property is in a quiet location, sitting between a country lane and a large courtyard.
To Manor Cottages We stayed at the Washpool rental for two weeks in the first half of May 2023. While the property was unremarkable on the outside, the stable conversion was superb. It was luxurious and comfortable, and very tastefully furnished and decorated. We were impressed with how completely it was outfitted absolutely everything we needed for cooking and living was there, and more. The collection of guidebooks and maps was helpful, too. The location in rural Upper Milton was ideal for a 2week stay in the Cotswolds. We used it as a base to explore the rectangle bounded by Cheltenham, Warwick, Oxford, and Bath. Our hosts, the Hartley brothers and their wives, were delightful and gracious. They provided us not only with useful local information and good conversation, but also with a tour of the pigfarm part of their extensive operation. That was fun, and quite instructive. We recommend this rental without reservation to anyone wishing to enjoy the pleasures of the Cotswolds. Henry & Judy Bird, Antony & Lynne Simpson

Thank you for a delightful stay for our first holiday with our little 9 month old baby boy. It was like being at a home from home, everything was catered for and nothing was too much trouble. Property location is ideal and you made our first holiday to the Cotswolds, very memorable. Melissa, Aidan & Ayrton
Richard
Excellent property, very welcoming
Catherine
This rates as one of the best selfcatering holiday properties that we have rented! It has been fitted out to a very high standard. We were welcomed with freshly baked scones, clotted cream and jam and that set the tone for the week. The owners were very friendly and concerned to ensure that everything met our expectations. There was so much to do in the local area and some great pubs for meals. This will definitely be our property of choice if we revisit the Cotswolds.
Siobhan
Such a beautiful cottage in a great location. We came with our baby and our dog and the cottage was spotless had all the facilities we needed comfortable beds, cot, dark rooms, WiFi, washer, parking etc. If we were ever in the Cotswolds again we will definitely be staying here again.
Stephanie
The cottage was impeccable! Spacious, clean and immaculately presented. It is without doubt, the best accommodation we have stayed in. The owners were extremely welcoming and we felt that if there had been any issues, they would have resolved them straightaway. We will definitely be returning.
Brooklyn
This was the best staycation we have ever been on. The home was absolutely beautiful I could have lived there. I thought that the cottage was going to be smaller than it was but it was super spacious with everything you could possibly need. The hosts were so lovely and really helpful and the area was perfect too. We even got snow which was just perfect before Christmas. We will definitely be visiting again! Thankyou!
We had a lovely weeks stay at Washpool cottage. The cottage itself has everything you will need in your stay, with home comforts as well. Plenty of utensils for those that enjoy cooking. Location is great for getting out and exploring the Cotswolds by car, we were able to easily access all the typical tourist hotspots. We walked down to the Hare pub a couple of times which was a treat, gorgeous Sunday lunch. It is a country road with no path the majority of the way. We used the hot tub a couple of times.
Malcolm
One of the best properties we haver stayed in ,faultless and that includes the owners
A lovely property, we had all we needed, also being able to bring our dog made it accessible to us. The owner who lived adjacent to the holiday let couldnt have been nicer. Also a welcome basket of extras, even chews for our dog ! 5 star !
Lyndon
Absolutely stunning cottage in a superb location for exploring the Cotswolds. The owners were very helpful & friendly. The cottage exceeded expectations & we had an amazing time here. The only disappointment was that it wasnt within easy walking distance to the pub as it was along a 60mph road with no pavement so we didnt brave that walk !! My daughter loved the hot tub..bit tricky to heat up though as its wood fired so you had to wait at least 2 hours for it to warm upthink it would benefit from a normal hot tub but this is only a minor point & certainly didnt affect our holiday. We would love to come back !!
Washpool holiday cottage is absolutely delightful! We really enjoyed our stay there and are seriously contemplating booking again for next year. Overall we found the cottage to be excellent and couldn't fault it in any way. In addition, the owners who live opposite are lovely people and are very friendly and welcoming. Even though we didn't need to, it was good to know they were available if required, or to ask for advice on the locality.
Fergus
Beautiful comfortable cottage, ideal for a relaxing holiday. The cottage is tastefully decorated and furnished, with it's own private outdoor area and hot tub. The owners are very pleasant and helpful. A great place to stay.
Excellent property with more than everything you need for a perfect holiday. Check in said 18.00 hours but the owner phoned to say property ready at 15.00 hours 1 hour before the scheduled time.
Malcolm
An excellent cottage with everything we needed for a happy holiday
Gillian
This cottage is fantastic! we stayed here last May and decided to return as it was one of the best accommodation we had been to. Ideal for two couples as we both have our own bathrooms. Equipped to a very high standard and owners in hand incase of any problems. We woke up one morning to find there was no hot water and it was sorted as soon as possible boiler fault This year we finally got the hang of the wood fired hot tub!
Washpool Cottage is ideally located to explore the Cotswolds. It is a very spacious cottage but still maintains it's cosy character. It is very clean and everything is at hand and catered for a real homefromhome with the added luxury of the Swedish hot tub! The garden is very dog friendly our four legged friend couldn't escape the walled garden! The bedrooms are lovely and the beds are huge and extremely comfortable which makes for a very good night's sleep after exploring the area. Lots of nice places nearby by to eat and drink. A throughly lovely place to stay would highly recommend it.
Maureen
Beautiful cottage lovely welcome will book again
An excellent cottage for our group of 4, a well equipped kitchen, lovely lounge with plenty of seating, two good sized bedrooms and ensuites, and very comfortable beds. It is the best cottage for a group of 4 that we have stayed in.An added bonus is the hot tub after a day out! Location is great, near to many places in the Cotswolds and only a few mins from the lovely town of Burford. The local pub the Hare serves very good food, and there are good walks nearby. We will definitely be back!
Kathryn
The cottage really is a home from home. Beautiful decor and thoughtful touches throughout including a delicious welcome hamper! Everything that you could need was there even games for the kids to play and books for the grownups to enjoy!
Claire
A wonderful holiday cottage, furnished and equipped to a high standard. Great location for exploring. Very warm welcome on arrival, the scones and clotted cream were a lovely treat. Will definitely return.
Everything was excellent.
A very clean and modern cottage in a very rural setting. Owing to the inclement weather mud was quite a problem! A very comfortable stay. A bigger freezer would be an advantage.
A beautiful very well equipped peaceful cottage great location. Definitely will be returning
Another brilliant trip to Washpool, our second visit this year and by far the best holiday let we have ever used couldnt recommend it enough. The owners are lovely and the cottage is finished and equipped to a very high standard. We will be visiting again in the new year Im sure.
Louise
We had a fantastic stay at Washpool for the week as parents to a toddler we found the cottage very well equipped for our needs including a stair gate, cot, high chair and a secure garden. The hot tub was lovely after a day exploring the Cotswolds!
Brenda
Vanessa gave us a very warm reception and there was a lovely welcome of home made scones and jam waiting for us. The cottage was spotlessly clean throughout . The whole cottage was set up to a high standard from fittings & soft furnishings to bed linens and bathrobes. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. The setting was very tranquil whilst also being a great base from which to explore the local area Burford is close by, and other traditional Cotswold villages are in easy reach e.g.Stowonthe Wold, Bourton on the water. We loved the log fired hot tub, and had a very comfortable stay. My dog came too, and was made very welcome. I'm very happy to recommend this cottage and would love to return.
The cottage was immaculate, the family run it beautifully flowers and homemade scones clotted cream and jam awaiting our arrival. We choose the hottest week to visit and were so lucky to have the tub to sit in and cool off. The surrounding area is so beautiful our dogs loved it. Lots of lovely walks. We were there for Harvest time under the harvest moon. Would definitely recommend this cottage fantastically equipped kitchen, very comfy beds, lovely high class towels and bed linen. Weather was so wonderful we ate out on the patio for all our meals never used the sitting room.

Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens - OX18 4JP
about 5 Miles
This has to be one of the most popular days out in Oxfordshire and is sure to appeal to nature lovers, animal lovers and keen gardeners.  Families and couples will enjoy wandering around this amazing park with a wide variety of mammals and birds to see as well as reptiles. Some of the most popular animals are the Burrowing Owl, Dexter Cow, African Pancake Tortoise and the Bar Headed Goose.  Check out their website for the latest admission costs and special offers.
Farmer Gows - SN7 8DA
about 16 Miles
Farmer Gows is a recommended attraction in the Faringdon area of Oxfordshire and will be especially suited to families with young children.  The little ones will love coming to see the farm animals including pigs, cows and lambs.  The meet the animals session takes place every day and includes handling the animals, walking the goats, feeding the pigs and cows and egg collecting.  Look out for special seasonal events throughout the year such as the Halloween Party, Lambing and children's workshops.  The latest news from the farm is that they have some Saddleback piglets and Speckledy chicks arriving shortly.
Pendon Indoor Model Village and Railways - OX12 8EA
about 22 Miles
This is an all weather attraction in Abingdon, Oxfordshire which will appeal to all ages.  The model trains are fascinating to watch and we love the model village in the Vale Scene.  The exhibits have been well thought out and it's a pleasure to wander around this museum looking at everything on offer.  You can be assured of a warm welcome from the moment you arrive and for kids and adults alike this makes a fun and educational day out.
Studley Grange Garden and Leisure Park - SN4 9QT
about 23 Miles
Studley Grange Garden and Leisure Park is a fantastic attraction based in Swindon, Wiltshire.  For nature lovers and those who like to get out and explore this is the perfect day out.  It's also an all weather attraction with Butterfly World being part of the site.  Butterfly World is kept at around 85 degrees year round so this makes a perfect place to visit in all seasons. A visit to the Craft Village is also recommended where there are a wide range of handcrafted gifts.
Avon Leisure Cruises - BS8 4EB
about 24 Miles
Avon Leisure Cruises offer a relaxing way to spend an afternoon exploring the beautiful river and the sites all around it. The trips have commentary to point out places of historical importance and interest and are educational as well as fun. During school holidays the area is very popular with tourists and with families and daily activities can be enjoyed.
Catanger Llama Trekking - NN12 8LJ
about 28 Miles
This is a really unique attraction and certainly worth a visit in our opinion.  Established in 1995 and situated in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside this attraction will appeal to those looking for something a little different.  You can't ride the animals but you can trek alongside them and enjoy the fantastic scenery.  From farm tracks to country lanes the gentle animals will carry your rucksack for you along the way.  There are personally guided treks available all year round and you will have your own Llama for the trek.
