Runnymede Reviews

On sweeping the floor having trailed in mud , I did notice a fair amount of dog hair was also collected in the sweepings . Whilst we were aware dogs were permitted at the property, we do not have one .Perhaps vacuuming in between guests would be more efficient at dealing with this. Also , the hot tub was noted to heat up more than once a day automatically . We did not use the appliance but were reluctant to interfere with the mechanism. This caused a large waste of energy , and as the owners of the cottage mentioned in their note that they hoped to limit costs , it seems sensible to leave instructions as to how it may be switched on and off as required. Otherwise , the cottage contained all 2 people needed for a week's break and we were happy.
Great little cottage full of character. Location was ideal. We only had 1 issue during our stay and the owners were attentive and sorted it straight away. We are out in several cafes and restaurants in the town and never used the cottage to cook. Will definitely return for another visit
Sharon
A charming character cottage, set in the very heart of Tewkesbury. We really enjoyed our stay but my husband found the stairs a little challenging.
Whats not to love? ! Were both 6 foot and my husband has limited mobility living with MS. My head touched the 2 low beams in the living room and the ceiling at the beginning of the kitchen! Didnt bother us at all! Parking at the front is tight but totally doable. Shower is so powerful. Garden on multilevel and such a beautiful sun trap. Black Bear across the road is excellent! The layout, drinks, food, highly recommended! Gorgeous welcome pack in the kitchen when we arrived. Attention to detail throughout is bang on. The bed, wow! So comfortable with plush Egyptian cotton bedding! Cotswolds Lavender Farm is well worth a visit for lavender lovers! Lovely high street with traditional shops and new ones too. In a nutshell, book this cottage and explore the area! You wont regret it!
We had such a lovely time at the Cottage, the owners made sure the cottage had everything you need. It was very clean one of the cleanest we have ever stayed in. We will definitely be back
Michelle
Amazing cottage has everything you need and more. Dog had own Bed treats on arrival and a lovely welcome basket for us with wine , jams, bread, biscuits, milk , butter in the fridge.great location in the heart of Tewkesbury. The hot tub extra bonus after a long walk.cant wait to go back.
A lovely cottage in a most convenient location. Would stay there again and also recommend to anyone wanting comfy and cosy accommodation in the Tewksbury area. Many thanks, Angela and Alan.
Very quaint cottage close to the town center. It has a nice outdoor area not that we had too much use of it in November!. Very clean and comfortable as well as being well equipped. Town is a great place to walk around, lots of old buildings and pubs. Its true what they say about the beams though! watch your head moving from room to room. Great stay well recommended.

Everything in the house was of good quality and we particularly enjoyed the Swan items in the kitchen. A lovely mix of old and new. Right next to an ancient bridge over the Avon, and a good atmosphere and beer in the Old Black Bear, the oldest pub in Gloucestershire, just over the road. The Abbey is beautiful and just opposite it we had a good meal in the Abbot's Table.

Perfect !!
A beautiful, spotlessly clean quirky cottage. We had a lovely time. The cottage is very well equipped and in a fabulous location for walks and as a base. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and very much appreciated. Thank you for having us .
We wouldn't hesitate in recommending Runnymede. It was beautifuly presented and very clean, the owners have thought of everything when doing this property up. We just loved everything about it and couldn't fault it at all. The welcome pack was also an added bonus, a very kind thought and very much appreciated. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful, quirky cottage, we had a lovely week.
It was lovely for us to be able to come to this lovely cottage,we are getting on in years and it was a lovely opportunity to visit all the places we used to take the boats we had. The cottage was spotless and everything you would want was there even a washing machine,I would suggest a slip mat for in the shower as it was slippery. The welcome basket was so much appreciated having saved us going straight out to get something ,it just let us get on unpacking .the bed was a dream havent slept that well for ages.

A little gem in the heart of the Cotswolds. The cottage was perfect for 2 and very comfortable. Lovely welcome package & very comfy bed. Wellequipped kitchen. Lots of hot water to shower at the end of a long days walking. The courtyard garden was a suntrap and our favourite spot for G&Ts at the end of the day. We visited Winchcombe, Broadway, The Malverns, Slaughters and Bourtononwater during our week. Plenty of choice of takeaways & restaurants in the town all walkable. We parked in the Oldbury car park 4 for 24 hrs. The pub across the road was also handy. Highly recommended
We had a lovely stay at Runnymede, the cottage was a cute, quirky originally medieval cottage, with its narrow spiral staircase, inglenook fireplace and 2 main rooms it was gorgeous The kingsize brass bed was so comfy I didn't want to get out of it. There were very nice touches like the welcome basket filled with essentials and the dog bed and treats. There was only 1moan I had that the grill pan was too small for the grill but I got around that by using the oven to cook burgers. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone, its close to the town and the nearest pub is across the road Ye Olde Black Bear.

This was a wonderful cottage. It was comfortable and clean, and in a fantastic location. The only real issue was parking, but that was easily resolved when I arrived the narrow lane was blocked by other cars. There were also some very low ceilings. I don't think my 6 ft 5 son would have enjoyed being in the kitchen! For me, at 5ft 4, it was not a problem.
Susana
Gorgeous cottage, very well presented, spotlessly clean. Fully enclosed garden. Excellent location to wander into town. Tight spiral staircase and low beams as expected in this type of property. Parking outside the cottage is tight but manageable. All in all, really enjoyable stay in beautiful property.
My week at Runnymede was so enjoyable. The Cottage is extremely comfortable albeit quirky. I loved the William Morris theme throughout. The cottage is situated for beautiful river walks and all the amenities in the town. I enjoyed the Riverside Cafe and also Tillys tea room. Tewkesbury is ideally situated for surrounding interesting market medieval towns. I would certainly not hesitate recommending Runnymede. Who knows I may return.
Carole
Fab cottage equipped to a very high standard. Very comfortable and excellent position to be able walk everywhere.
Angela
The most beautiful cottage with everything you need and more, in a lovely setting. Pet friendly and right next to the high street and canal for walks. Would definitely revisit.

Spent a lovely week at Runnymede cottage, it was a real home from home. Everything was of a high standard and the bed was extremely comfortable. The welcome pack was a nice touch and was much appreciated. Couldnt fault anything and it was a great base to explore the surrounding areas.
Had a great stay at the cottage. Comfortable, adequately aquipped, and excellent location for Tewkesbury and surrounding areas. William Morris touches throughout the property, an added bonus. Enclosed, safe garden for the dog. Nice welcome pack on arrival. We really enjoyed our five night stay Will recommend.
Jillian
The pictures do not do justice to the real thing. Beautifully presented and cosy. My hubby may have bumped his head once or twice on the low beams, but it was perfect for me. A super little welcome gift started our holiday off. Perfect!
Lovely homely clean property. The bed was so comfortable, there was a lovely thoughtful welcome pack and toiletries. For dog owners , basket, blanket, dog biscuits, poo bags amazing. Well furnished, and comfortable. Pots pans and everything needed to make meal.
Lovely place to stay. Great location and easy to get the bus to and from Gloucester and Cheltenham. Property was clean and comfortable
Yvonne
We very much enjoyed staying here at Runnymead Cottage ideally placed close to the High Street shopsrestaurants and some beautiful dog walks alongside the river! The cottage was very clean, with a comfy bed, a superb hot shower and treats left for both humans and doggy companions! Would certainly recommend both the property and Tewkesbury, Thank you.
Could do with a clock in the kitchen. Parking is an issue being so close to the road junction. But the more confident driver should manage ok. Beams are low. But that's the structure and age of the building. But it was a nice comfy little cottage.
Beautiful cottage ,very well maintained, very clean and well equiped, bed so comfy ,had the best sleep ever, treats left in for our arrivel was a nice touch, our jack russel loved it,the only downfall would be the tricky parking, loved our stay . Thank you.i would definately reccomend the cottage for short breaks ,the town itself has a lot to offer, and people were very friendly. the patio and the plants just needs a little T L C .
Eileen
Runnymeade is a very comfortable cottage In the heart of tewkesbury. It gas everything you need for a pleasant stay. We'll equipped kitchen. Superb quality linen & towels. Excellent sun terrace. Parking was tricky for us...but wouldn't be for others. A lovely welcome pack left by inners was very much appreciated. A nice touch. Many walks from cottage Along side the river...the bed was so comfortable, would love to know which lovesoul bed it was As will be getting one. Thank you .
Michael
Comfortable cottage with pleasant garden. Lovely welcome pack. Might be a problem for people with mobility problems as steps up and down inside cottage to get to various rooms. Close to all amenities.
Philippa
Loved the property x near and handy for all of the cotswolds x we had a super holiday . The nearby rail station meant we had an awayday to Bath which save d the parking nightmare and takes you right to the centre of Bath. The holiday cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed. I would definately recommend to anyone.
We had a lovely stay, thankyou for sharing your lovely cottage with us. We did need step ladder to get into the bed but once in it was one of the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. Another main thing with us and probably for many other people with dogs was I didnt have to stress out worrying as the cottage was dog friendly. Once again a big thankyou.
Where to start the property was spotless and welcoming the welcome pack was a ... Where to start the property was spotless and welcoming the welcome pack was a nice touch the whole experince was fantastic would deffo be comming back to runnymede great location good price lots of nice little touches
The cottage was clean and spacious. A welcome pack of useful items was appreciated, and also toiletries. The kitchen was well equipped for our needs, with a lovely large fridge. and coffee maker, with the capsules provided. It was pleasant to sit in the dining area to look at the garden, which was a sun trap when the sun shone. Parking was a squeeze, but we managed, and didn't find traffic noise a problem, as it was quiet at night.. Tewkesbury Abbey, and John Moore's museum were well worth a visit as was a walk along the river to Deerhurst church and Odda's Abbey. Cleeve Hill, a short drive away, provided magnificent views. I would recommend the cottage to anyone without mobility problems due to steep stairs, and internal steps.
Couldnt fault anything. Thank you for the welcome pack a lovely thoughtful touch. Poppy & Daisy say thanks too for their welcome treats.
We spent a wonderful week at Runnymede. The location on the edge of Tewkesbury was really convenient. The cottage itself was spotless, the kitchen had everything you need for a self catering holiday all of the appliances looked new and the washing machine was the quietest I have ever seen. The welcome basket was great bread wine biscuits and jams and mustard.Upstairs the bed has to be one of the best we have ever slept in duvet and pillows top quality. The bathroom was small but not too small, toilet, sink and shower cubicle with electric shower. The cottage was comfortably warm with central heating and an electric wood burner.A smart tv is provided and also WiFi. Just a few minor niggles ,a hair dryer would have been nice and a kitchen tray to carry things out to the garden would've saved having to make a couple of trips back and forth. The stairs are not easy for anyone a bit unsteady as in places they are very narrow. The major problem is the parking, the photo doesn't show it but the lane in front of the cottage is narrow very narrow, I have a normal sized car and managed with a bit of tooing and froing to turn the car around at the end of the lane anyone with a bigger car might not be able to do that .Having said that ,the cottage is great and our dog loved it too.
Thomas
A lovely quaint cottage, probably not a good choice for a tall person but never the less very cosy and a very comfortable king size bed. The parking is very tight you need to reverse down the lane because there is nowhere to turn around, or use the main car park which is very close by.Thank you for the welcome pack.
Michelle
The cottage was perfect. Spotlessly clean and a lovely welcome pack of bread, milk, butter and wine, thank you. We were travelling with 2 cocker spaniels, aged 8 and 14 weeks. They loved the secure garden and the gravy bones. The location of the cottage is great, many pubs and restuarants a short walk away. Tewkesbury is very dog friendly. We had a super week and would definitely return. Thank you.
This is a lovely characterful cottage that provided my wife and I plus our beagle 'Sadie' with really nice accommodation for the week 02nd 09th oct 21. Efficient & adequate heating, important at this time of year and great wifi. Lovely comfortable king size bed and nice secure outside space if you take your four legged friend. Situated just a few hundred metres from Tewkesbury's high street, the cottage resides in a short row of similar cottages in a 'dead end' lane just off and running parallel to a busy road. There is some road noise but we didn't find it excessive. All good then ? well . . . my only concern was the parking. As explained in the cottage info, ideally you need to reverse down this 'lane' with nowhere to turn around you would otherwise be reversing out into the traffic on the aforementioned busy road. We are in our 70's and found this reversing stressful, the lane is very narrow with little clearance past concrete planters from neighbouring cottages. Don't despair, after contacting Sally owner she registered us on the 'resident parking scheme' for our stay. Just a short 150m ? away there is adequate parking. Hugh thanks to Sally for sorting this out for us. I guess many more confident younger ? drivers will handle parking directly outside the cottage but it is only fair I write this feedback from our experience.
