Lovely house clean and tidy. Only one thing the upstairs plug jammed in down position. Martin came round but was not a quick fix. Would highly recommend this place . Shops very close and Sydney the cat visited us every day.
Rachel
Great property best holiday accommodation weve stayed in. Very clean, comfy beds and everything you need is there. Love the decorative touches, and the nightlights and torches were a nice touch. Hot tub was wonderful and fitted 3 of us easily. Lovely grounds too. However trying to get in touch with Sykes Cottages was impossible. I sent 3 emails over a couple of months before our stay but had no response. Even used the virtual chat who said theyd get them to contact me but they never did. That was the only negative.

The cottage itself was lovely and very well equipped and comfortable, one of the best I've stayed in. It was very clean and clearly a lot of thought has gone into guest comfort. The location is beautiful. What I didn't like was the lack of privacy. CCTV recording video and audio at the front. CCTV on the back garden. Neither were declared in the listing even though Sykes say it should be disclosed. Fortunately the hot tub is around the side and not covered by CCTV. Over zealous and very bright security lights made sitting outside in the evening with a glass of wine to enjoy the fading light impossible as they come on at the slightest of movements. This was a disappointment as it's a great spot for night sky gazing. Ditto for enjoying the hot tub after the kids have gone to bed. No screening between the neighbours conservatory which abuts the boundary so the neighbours were sat a few feet away looking straight into the garden. There was an odd and seemingly unnecessary mention of sex offenders in the guest information folder which my daughter read. I hadn't expected to be explaining to a 10 year old what a sex offender is on the first night of my holiday. The information on wild boar was interesting and informative. The hot tub almost certainly was not serviced during our stay. It had reasonable use as there were 5 of us but despite diligent showering beforehand by the 5th evening the water was cloudy and it had a very unpleasant smell. We left on day 6 so no idea if it was serviced after this. We pretty much only ever book properties with hot tubs and have never previously had issues with water quality or smell. It was too cold to use on the first evening presumably due to a change of water so don't expect to relax in it soon after arrival. When usable it was a great addition. On the whole what should have been a wonderful stay in a beautiful cottage didn't feel particularly relaxing particularly when using the outside space. I'm aware I could have cancelled on arrival as the CCTV was not declared however this wasn't a realistic option after a 7.5 hour journey with three young children. It's not particularly clear from the listing whether there's a dining table which almost put me off booking as we always eat meals at the table as a family. There is dining table with two benches and a fold up chair which was perfectly adequate for dining.
Hi! We had an absolutely amazing time at you property. The house was very clean and the hot tub was such a plus. Thank you !!
We had a lovely weekend as a group a ladies having a break away. The property is great, remote and clean. The beds are very comfortable and the hot tub a bonus. I would however say that the small table and benches in the sitting room do not seat 5 adults and as this probably sleeps 5, this was frustrating. The hot tub was very snug for 5 adults too. A book to write recommendations in would be good as this is something all of us agreed we were used to. We would like to have written down some of the things we discovered for the next visitors. Also, maybe a few games? We did, however, have a lovely weekend in this very peaceful cottage. Sykes customer services however leaves much to be desired! I tried to get in touch before our visit with a number of queries and all I got back were a few WhatsApp messages telling me they were too busy! Its impossible to actually speak to a human!
Andrew
Really well presented property. We liked the location, quiet area but close enough to pubs & village shop and in a perfect location to explore the Forest of Dean area.
We had a lovely weekend. The house was immaculate and as described. Location was perfect for local scenic walks and very quiet. Hot tub was a welcome treat, although we couldnt adjust the temperature beyond 36deg and it limited our usage as we got cold. Grittyflakey deposits were in the hot tub possibly chemicals due to lower temp not dissolving? It would have been useful to have known on the listing that there was a cafetire! Overall a delightful stay. Would happily return or recommend. Thank you.
Secure cycle storage would be a bonus. More comfortable outdoor seating would also be good. All the facilities were excellent and the welcome pack much appreciated.
Nicola
We had a Wonderful stay here, it was immaculate throughout and so peaceful. The property is situated in a great location with a lovely pub within walking distance which served great food. We will definitely be returning in the future. Thankyou for making our stay so special.
Andrea
What a beautiful place to stay. I cannot recommend 1 Greenway highly enough. It has everything you need, the accommodation is so clean and beautifully furnished and the gardens and setting are just breath taking. The owners really have gone out of their way to make sure you have a perfect time. You will not be disappointed. Absolutely loved it and will be recommending to all my friends and family.
Richard
Great, newly fittedout cottage in a very peaceful location with handy onsite parking. There is NO passing traffic and SO much birdsong. The cottage would benefit from a secure outdoor store for bikes. The kitchen equipment provided only the bare essentials It has limited utensils and lacks large saucepans, mixing bowls, small glasses and kitchen scales. The hot tub may be attractive to some but, running 247, it is a HUGE waste of energy when will it dawn on people that there is a climate crisis? The Forest of Dean is an amazing place for enjoying outdoor activities like walking and biking and it's just there from the door step. We will definitely be back!
Cottage exceeded our expectations, we were really pleased with it. Had everything we wanted , as a cat lover was an unexpected bonus to have Sidney the cat adopt us for the week. Was lovely going for a walk in the woods next to the cottage did wonder if a circular walk could be undertaken. Certainly intend using this property again in the future and have shared details with friends.
An extremely clean and comfortable cottage with the added extra of the hot tub, which was enjoyed on our return at the end of the day. The owner had obviously put in a lot of thought into what equipment would be needed, as we didn't need to purchase any essentials during the week. The cottage was well positioned for local towns and villages as well as Symonds Yat, the Sculpture Trail and other walking areas. We would highly recommend this cottage to both couples and small families.
The Cottage was in a lovely location next to a forest with lots of walks not too far away from places to visit, most places we visited were about 20 minutes drive away. We went to Mallards Pike, Monmouth, Clearwell Caves, Gloucester Cathedral, Ross on Wye and Puzzlewood. We enjoyed using the hot tub and found the cottage to be comfortable, clean, spacious and cosy. Everything was supplied for our needs and would high recommend the cottage.
A lovely cottage in a gorgeous location. We loved the hot tub and enjoyed lots of walks nearby. A perfect stay. Thank you
Lovely area and very comfortable property
Andrew
Really nicely finished house with good quality equipment. Would happily go back and explore the area a bit morehopefully make use of the hot tub next time!
It would have been useful to know what day the bins and recycling was collected. Generally though very good.
Claire
What an amazing place to stay! So beautiful and calming inside and out and perfect for our week away. Lots of space, really peaceful and so welcoming. Thank you!
Graham
A great place to stay, very clean and tidy, its a very quiet place situated in the countryside but only a few minutes drive or a 15 minute walk from the village, the only problem we had was finding the cottage, I entered the post code in my car sat nav and on my mobile phone but it didnt get us to the cottage.
A lovely property in a great setting. The accommodation was well equipped, very comfortable and clean in a really lovely, peaceful setting. Ideal for a break away from everything with all the comforts of home, great walks right on the doorstep and a hot tub waiting when you get back.
