13 The Island Reviews

Place was lovely with lots of facilities like the jacuzzi and kitchen had everything you need. However the kitchen could do with a new kettle as I had to clean it out 4 5 times as the inside bits kept coming up everytime I filled it up with water. Also cot bedding was not found so we used one of the duvets and let our little one sleep on it inside the cot. The cot bedding in the cupboards was for a single bed and not a travel cot unfortunately. When the recliners were opened underneath the sofas had not been cleaned there was food and dust everywhere and alot of cobwebs in corners so could have done with a deeper clean especially with our kids running around getting in everywhere. Overall a nice stay and break for us.
Amanda
The cottage was clean and had everything you could possibly need. Me and my family enjoyed our stay.
Joanne
This cottage was lovely really well furnished, clean and full of character. Its really well equipped and had everything we needed including dvds, books, toys for children, lots of kitchen items, nice towels and comfortable bedding. The welcome pack was a bonus. The hot tub was great at the end of the day. Loads to do in surrounding area and also great for Alton Towers visit. Hope to come back to stay here.
Elaine
Great cottage. Loved our stay. The cottage has everything you need. Very spacious downstairs,Hot tub fab, thank you Alison for looking after it. had a lovely break. Cottage was clean throughout, although a little tlc to bathroom is required, eg skirting boards need fixing, bath re sealing, same as skirting loose near front door. Main Bedroom, Laura and Martin I only mention this just make you aware. I understand that perhaps being booked up doesnt give you much time, Also a night light on landing would be helpful, as the step into main bedroom could be a hazard when your half a sleep and older .peaceful place. Will mention parking a bit tight in an estate car, pot holes in lane to the property but nothing to do with owners. The small garden is not attached to house, but just across the way front of property, and 2nd parking place. No gate to stop dog going out as you open door, So next time will bring my door gate, but again, readers do Not be put off brilliant place to stay pubs in village, ship inn do food NO Dogs . X keys pub allow dogs, no food, was good for walks, footpath across from property. A big thank you to owners for welcome packs, really nice surprise. We go to at least 34 properties a year using different agents , they all have their little faults BUT this one is definitely in my top 5. Which we will use again and again. Thank you for a great stay.
A throughly beautiful home from home, with thoughtful additional touches to make our stay comfortable. The perfect bolt hole to explore the area we will definitely be returning soon!
Andrew
Well looked after, comfortable cottage in ideal area for exploring the Peak District. Everything you could need was available, the hot tub an added bonus.

Lovely relaxing stay, property was well appointed,
We had a great week at The Island and didnt want to leave. Great base for Ninja Warrior, Waterworld, Alton Towers and Dovedale Stepping Stones. Lovely cottage and hot tub and woodburner was very welcome. We will definitely return. Happy teens and happy parents. Jamisons, Cambridgeshire
Couldnt have asked for more. Lovely property and stay
Laurie
We had a lovely 4 night stay in this beautiful cottage with kids 13 and 11 and our dog. On arrival we had a welcome pack, even the dog! We really appreciated the prosecco to kick off our holiday as well as bread, milk, biscuits and even ice pops for the kids! The cottage is really well equipped with washer, drier, dishwasher etc. There are loads of magazines, books, games, toys for younger kids and even a PS4 so we were reassured we would be ok even if it rained during our stay. The hot tub was perfect and is secluded, a big bonus of this cottage! Tean itself is a great location with shops, pubs, park and easy access to the Peak District and places like Alton Towers, Trentham monkey forest and high ropes. Very beautiful part of the UK. Thanks for our lovely stay!
Zbigniew
Everything was great we had a nice and relaxing stay,a gate at the back garden would have made it perfect to keep dog from escaping, Location good for shop, dog friendly pub and tasty fish & chips, and nice walks, Thank you.
We had a nice stay at this lovely cottage. The hot tub out the back was nice for relaxing in the evenings. We stayed here when visiting AltonTowers for a few days as it was only a 20 minute drive away.Village has everything you need and the hosts had left us a nice welcome pack which included tea, coffee, sugar, bread, milk biscuits and a complimentary bottle of wine.Hosts were in touch during g the stay incase we required anything. Would definitely go back .
A great little cottage in a perfect location for visiting Alton Towers. Has everything you could possibly need and the welcome pack and extra touches made it extra special. We'd definitely book again if returning to the area.
Dyanne
Owner went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Delighted.
This was our second time here as perfect as the first and we would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area, especially if you have kids.
Heather
We had a great time at the island, very clean, a home from home. Lovely touches bottle procecco and goodies thankyou. Chilldren loved ps4 and toys. In a great location visited splashlandings and amerton farm. The hottub was wonderful after a long day. Will def recomend x
Perfect cottage for exploring Peak District. Very cosy. So many extra touches too many to list. The kitchen was amazing everything you could possibly need and more. Welcome pack for us and our dog was a lovely touch. The owners kept in contact the whole stay to check everything was ok. We will be back.
Phillip
The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed. I agree with past comments about an extra stepflat stone coming out of the hot tub.Overall very pleased with the cottage but a word of warning dont put any food in the corner carousel, we did but mice ate some of it so we had to throw it away. The road to it is also quite narrow.
We had a fantastic stay. You have obviously put a great deal of effort and thought into the property and we really appreciated it. The only negative was the lane access being very tight and in poor condition. This should be mentioned on the listing. Thank you once again for a lovely property to stay in.
Matthew
This is a fabulous place to stay. Lovely cottage, plenty of local walks, shops, pubs and takeaways. A few miles drive from the beautiful Peak District with it fantastic undulating pathways, hilltops and rivers. Brilliant for families and dogowners. Hope to be back soon
Angela
We loved this property. It was so clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a long weekend. Will definitely stay again.
Dennis
Quiet location close to village centre and footpath through fields. It would be useful to have toweling robes to get to the tub, and an extra stepping stone above the step so you don't have to put on shoes with wet feet to get back to the path.
We booked this for a few days away so that our teenage boys could spend time at Alton towers. Its a gem of a place! Tucked away down a little lane mind the potholes!, the cottage was spotlessly clean. The host had left some thoughtful welcome items such as bread, milk, oatcakes, biscuits and a bottle of wine. Tea and coffee plus condiments were there too. The hot tub was an added bonus and there were plenty of towels provided. The plants and lighting around the cottage and the table and chairs next to the hot tub, made it a great spot to enjoy a glass of wine at the end of a days exploring. The cottage was very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you
The owner was extremely helpful before and during our booking pointing out places to visit for our young children. They also fitted a stairgate on our toddlers room at our request. Also a welcome pack for us when we arrived was brilliant! The cottage was in a great location to visit various places. It was extremely clean, comfortable, with great facilities and the hot tub was a great addition to use in the evenings.
Rebecca
Our stay was perfect. The property was clean, spacious and had everything we needed for the week. The welcome pack was lovely and the games console was a nice touch to keep my two boys occupied after full days out and about! Would definitely recommend a stay here and return if we came back to the area.
13 The Island is a superbly equipped and comfortable place to stay. I really cannot fault the house at all. It was spotlessly clean, had all the equipment and facilities we could wish for and was a very comfortable place to stay. The little touches for us and our dog were lovely. The owners were very helpful and the neighbours we saw were very friendly. I highly recommend this as a holiday house and would certainly consider going back there.
13 The Island could not have been better for us. It's in a great spot for getting to Alton Towers for the teens and loads of great walks for parents. The property itself has everything and the bonus of the Hot Tub was a big plus for us. The cottage is clean, has all mod cons, everything easy to find and use. We had a perfect time, really. And thanks to the owners for the Welcome pack. The Oatcakes went down especially well.
Jackie
We had the most enjoyable stay, everything you could possibly need for your holiday, Hot tub was fantastic. Will return again for sure.
This pretty cottage is ideal. Down a little lane, it and its few neighbours is secluded and quiet. Our teenage grandchildren loved it as we all did. Its very well equipped and the bedrooms are comfortable and clean. The owners made it for us, though, as they were so helpful, suggesting lovely places to walk and finding out in advance which pubs were open on the day. And the hot tub was lovely after a long walk.
Richard
Me and my family had a lovely time and the cottage was exactly what we hoped it would be. When we come to alton towers again we will definitely be staying here.
Beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet location with everything you need. Welcome pack with drinks and essentials left for us. Lovely rooms, comfy beds, great hot tub and log burner. Martin the owner came out to check the hot tub each day and brought us some extra wood for the fire, so helpful. Everything you need is in the cottage to make your stay comfy. Dogs welcome too. Had a great stay.
A wellequipped, cute cottage in a nice location. Great hottub and attentive host. We had a very restful weekend. Would book again.
Had the most fantastic time at the 13 the island. Thanks so much to Laura who made the stay really memorable and lovely for us. We stayed 2 nights over a weekend and had a great time. Hot tub is definitely a highlight and there are some lovely walks a few places to eat within a nice walking distance too. Would definitely love to return as it is a perfect middle point for a group of friends who live all over the country. Thanks so much again Laura and Martin x
A cosy cottage renovated to a high standard with every need catered for the owners made contact and made sure nothing was too much trouble. Located in a quiet little lane it was nevertheless near to local shops and takeaways.A path to the front leads to a field and the Staffordshire Way for walking the dog.Tean is a nice town and a nearby small park, next to the river, displays some local History.
Geetanjali
We really enjoyed our stay at 13 the island. A lovely little property with a fantastic hot tub. Well equipt kitchen and great toiletries provided in the bathroom! Thanks for having us!!
