Milton Manor Reviews

A very happy group 33 of us in total stayed at Milton Manor for our church weekend away. What a fantastic house. Spacious and clean bedrooms, various other communal rooms to hang out in, a lot of outdoor space for kids to run around and the allpopular hot tub too! Favourite part must have been the very long dining table which was able to seat us all. So many discussions and much laughter happened right there. Overall a real treat to have stayed at Milton Manor and we do hope to be back again next year.

This is a fantastic place,we celebrated my wife's 70th birthday with ages from 76 to 6 months, great venue, spotless, lovely gardens well up together we had a great time ,many thanks to the owners.
The stay was fantastic, no complaints. The only small thing I would mention is the wifi can occasionally give weak signal or be temperamental, but other that that 5!
Lesley
This is a stunning property, extremely old and with beautiful period features. We had 25 family members staying, ranging from 870, all celebrating my husbands 70th birthday. There was plenty of space for us all, comfortable bedrooms and an amazing games room. There were also cupboards full of games and toys, great for the children. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and the kitchen areas had everything you could possibly need. The surrounding country is great for walks and not too far from the coast. One slight comment about the hot tub it's not the sort with jets and bubbles! More like a spa bath, enjoyable but not what was expected. If you have a big family celebration coming up this is the perfect place to stay. Definitely recommended!
Rosalind
Beautiful house and grounds. Ideal for large family gatherings. Rooms all well kitted out and wonderfully warm.
A few minor improvements would lift Milton Manor from very good to great. The games room needs some attention. The pool table has seen better days and a light over the dart board would be helpful. The kitchen equipment is lacking in some areas, only 2 wooden spoons, one small saucepan and no oven gloves. Trivial things but easily sorted. Basically, loved the place and would recommend.

Hello, it was a good venue for the weekend celebrations. Downstairs, the kitchen and dining worked really well. However, my feedback is, your bathrooms, gosh they really need work on the 1st floor and especially in the attic suites... Also, the bedroom where you just have a curtain between the bath and the bedroom I appreciate it's small was very disappointing to put a couple in no dressing mirror tiny one by sink not adequate, no where to hang clothes. But essentially your bathrooms let you down they need redecoration. A big point for me as I had musicians playing is thathe piano is not 'good' it really wasn't up for using and I mention this as it was a specific reason for booking I'm afraid it's on it's way to piano heaven in terms of key action, keyboard itself, the ricketiness of it and would require some degree of work. Also the music room is tiny and the piano faces the wall. This doesn't live up to the marketing for it so I'd suggest you think about that part. Light bulbs in lamps were missing downstairs just worth checking. These are the reasons it scored 4. We've hired house before and realise of course they aren't hotels... We're not silly or arrogant.. It's just feedback for you to think about. Overall it is a really well located, well thought out venue. So, thank you.
We had an amazing weekend celebrating a diamond wedding anniversary with four generations present. We spent the majority of our stay in the amazing grounds. We loved the huge dining table in the main kitchen. Some of the bathrooms could do with some TLC but on the whole we really enjoyed our stay.
We have just spent an amazing week at Milton manor with 28 family members ages from 77years to 20months,lovely clean house, large comfy beds with crisp white linen sheets, white fluffy towels and hot showers or baths. Both kitchens have everything you could possibly need for cooking large amounts of food which we did every day and sat at the dining table which was perfect. Although it rained most of the week it didn't stop the fun as there is plenty to entertain you, beautiful gardens to walk around, pool table, table tennis and an amazing hot tub,we are already looking to come back next year.

Milton Manor was a superb house for our family gathering. All the facilities were in excellent condition and it really felt like 'home'. We thoroughly our stay and would recommend the house to anyone. Should we be able to organise a future family gathering we would book to stay again.
We had a wonderful big family week at Milton Manor. It was perfect to be 26 people in the place so we could use bedroom combinations that suited us. The various rooms downstairs gave loads of choice for activities we took badminton and croquet too, and enjoyed the table tennis, pool table, hot tub... everything. Communication with the owner was quick and really helpful.
Claire
A lovely house with many excellent facilities including a great kitchendiner, fantastic kitchen equipment, great collective and individual spaces, beautiful hot tub, plenty of parking and good recreational facilities and space. Only criticism was that showers in 2 of the bedrooms set off alarms so couldnt be used.
Tracey
Very clean well equipped kitchen lovely reception rooms hot tub and garden also wonderful . Sad to have to say several showers not working ran cold constantly even after leaving to run for some time meaning guests had to share other bathrooms! Dart board unusable and table tennis net and bats need replacing also only one pool cue we had a lovely time but believe the bathroom issues would prevent us from returning which is a shame the house just needs some tlc
Christine
An amazing place to share a special occasion with family and friends. Very well equipped and plenty of room for everyone to join together or find their own quiet corner. The grounds are beautiful and seem to go on forever. Would definitely recommend this beautiful house to anyone.
Rebecca
There is much to love here. Loads of space and flexibility of rooms. Well equipped kitchen with catering size pots etc. 3 dish washers. Great large table we could easily all fit round. 2 downstairs bedrooms, one double and one single, for those with mobility issues. Pretty gardens. Good location with plenty of walks and places to visit Many of the bedrooms are rather dated in their decor with less than impressive bathrooms, weak showers and one toilet in a cupboard! I felt it is a bit cheeky still to ask guests to strip their own beds and bring everything downstairs, there is no COVID need to do this anymore. Also, quite a trek to get rubbish and recycling round to bins as the door linking the utility and bin area is locked. Overall though this is a great house to stay with a large group, friends or family. We had a great time
Lovely property with ample space for a large group. Well located, albeit a bit of a drive to the coast. although well worth the effort The owners are very approachable & helpful.
We enjoyed a wonderful 70th birthday experience thanks to this excellent property.
Was such a lovely weekend and everything was lovely such a great place to go with mix of families as enough different spaces to separate if need to. Lovely grounds and lovely walks nearby. We felt like there should have been more instructions for things at the property for things like the oven and hot tub etc. The treehouse was unfortunately broken which was a bit of a disappointment to the kids but didn't affect our stay. Would definitely go back
Rosamond
A great place for a large extended family gathering we were 22 at a joint goldenwedding and 70th birthday celebration. There were several seating areas for different groups, including a lovely sittingroom with bar for celebratory group gatherings. The huge diningtable in the kitchendiner easily accommodated all of us, with room for the teens to do their homework at the end! The hot tub was much appreciated by many. We all hope to return.
Rebecca
We had a wonderful 3 nights at Milton Manor 1922 December 2021. The House was decorated beautifully for Christmas, inside and out, and felt warm and welcoming. We had a huge family gathering of several generations, and it surpassed all our expectations. The long table in the kitchen meant we could all eat together, and the games room, sitting rooms and other self contained ground floor accommodation gave us all the space and entertainment we needed. It was fabulous, and both Sykes and the Owners could not have been more helpful and attentive. We would definately book again without any hesitation.
Milton Manor met all our needs for this surprise 60th birthday bash, the location, layout & facilities were amazing. Some of the kitchencooking utensils weren't as clean as expected and the banquet room floor had signs of dried food, from previous people, under the tables.
Milton Manor was a fantastic party house for our 27 family guests and the accommodation itself was perfect, versatile and very comfortable and clean. It was a wonderful stay and allowed us to celebrate a 90th birthday in real style! Our only criticism was that the property owner was not there when we arrived and due to mobile phone connectivity it was tricky to get hold of her. It would have been good to have a few things explained in person like how to work the hot tub instructions weren't very clear and it was lukewarm until the end of day 2. It would also have been good to have had a single book with all the instructions in it rather than have them in picture frames dotted around the house which was a bit like being at school with 'do this' and 'don't do that' notices around! The welcome stay book that we did eventually find was in a small dark corridor area so were rather at sea as to how things worked at the start when all our guests were arriving, and being an old building it had some quirks, such as light switches being in unexpected places the ladies downstairs loo light switch being in the gents downstairs loo, for instance!. Our younger guests and those needing to do a small amount of work from the house found the internet rather slow. But otherwise it was a really wonderful week, and the local lady that cooks lasagna and chicken tray bakes ready for your arrival if you want them was a musthave they were absolutely delicious and home made! Shops are very close and we ordered a massive Waitrose food delivery for the Friday evening which worked well and kept us going almost for the whole week. We were so sorry to leave at the end!
As a party of 26 adults, a toddler and a baby, we had a fantastic week. The facilities are excellent and the house is well equipped and we found nothing lacking. The holiday was to celebrate a special birthday so a drinks lounge and kitchen as well as the main dining kitchen was ideal, as was the prep and washing up area so everyone could help without tripping over anyone else! The house is set within a short travelling distance to many venues and our guests made full use of the area by visiting Wookey Hole, Lyme Regis, Stourhead NT, the Haynes Motor Museum, Street,Glastonbury and much more.

Some of the highlights include the zebras, the wallabies in wallaby wood and the sea lion escorted cruise to Gorilla Island.  And of course the magnificent lions and tigers are a must see.  This really is an animal experience with a difference and you can save money by booking your tickets online.  This attraction is open until the end of October. Check out their website to see some fantastic video podcasts of the park.
