Emma
This place is stunning, with everything you could want at a top-notch standard. The hosts are really helpful and always there if you need them. Highly recommend!
Emma
We stayed at the Old Shippon in late September with our dog, mainly because we wanted a place where we could still enjoy our break if the weather turned bad. It really did tick all the boxes - beautifully decorated and super clean. The little touches made a big difference, from breakfast to evening drinks, everything felt special. The hot tub was a daily treat, especially after a long local walk. It’s a perfect spot to explore from - we’d definitely recommend Hide!

The space was lovely and airy, perfect for relaxing. The hot tub was a real treat after a day out. The location was ideal, just half an hour to the lakes. The owners are lovely too - we’ll be back for sure!

During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.

Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 16 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 21 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
