Dragonsfell Reviews

Overwhelmingly a lovely stay there were 10 of us staying for 3 nights and we had a wonderful time! The property is wellappointed and clean, the hot tub and barbequepatio area is a lovely addition and we were very comfortable throughout. A few small things that I think this property could benefit from a welcome bookmanual with a few key details like bin collectionheatingwifi code, soap and hand towels in all bathrooms. A bigger change but one that I think would be a big improvement would be one extra shower, it took us a while to all cycle through in the mornings! But these are small things, we generally had a lovely time and would certainly recommend it

The place was dusty furniture old and itchy. The kids were not happy at all and were afraid to sit on it. There was spiders in every room and the room downstairs was full of spiders which even crawled on my mothers face at night so much so she had to stay on the spare folding bed upstairs. Honestly it was very sad the children did not enjoy their time neither did the adults due to state of the place. Definitely needs a clean and a refresh with newer furniture.

We were disappointed on arrival that the front garden was so overgrown and untidy. Not at all like the photo on the website. This kind of set the tone for the general level of cleanliness in the property which left much to be desired. There was dust and grime on all the floors and cobwebs and dead flies on all the work surfaces in the kitchen. The final horror was finding that the bed in the basement had a stained duvet cover and hairs in the bed. Luckily we found the cupboard with fresh linen and late at night after our long journey to the lakes, after cleaning a kitchen we were also changing bedding. Not a brilliant start to the holiday. I did let the owner know immediately as I assumed he was paying a company to prepare the accommodation and that he wasn't aware of the poor standards. Hopefully he has taken some action to improve the quality of cleanliness in Dragonsfell as it is in a beautiful location for a holiday exploring the lakes and the large rooms provided an excellent space for our family vacation. Also the hot tub was great fun and the beds were very comfortable. After overcoming the initial difficulties we did have a most enjoyable holiday in an unusually hot and sunny Lake District.
So underwhelmed, spoke to owner 4 times. .. key to get in wrong, oil boiler packed up, i had to restart it, cob webs everywhere, single sheets on double beds, blood on undersheets yuk!!!, sewage smell from hot tub, totally run down, garden furniture so filthy unsitable on... i have images if you want, for the price the worst holiday cottage we have ever had... oh and Sykes didnt tell us it is already sold STC mar24... very underhand and potentially reason no care what so ever, just a money making ruse!!! I will probably never use Sykes gain, pls feed this back to Steve, which I think he knows already, so so so disappointed best Keef

What a fantastic setting and perfect for family or large group get togethers. Everything was as described in the listing and any minor queries we had were quickly responded to by the owner using the contact details provided. Dargonsfell is the ideal place for a getaway idyllic rural hillside setting with Kendal and the Lake District within easy reach.

Lovely relaxing home away from home. Everything we needed for a break with family. Ideally located away from crowds but close enough to enjoy all that The Lake District has to offer. Need to be mindful of neighbours. Area is so quiet noise travels so need to stick to 10pm curfew.

Dragonsfell cottage was beautiful and such a great place for our family getaway all of the bedrooms were fabulous but the best upstairs is the ensuite room the bed was huge! and also the bedroom on the ground floor was amazing to get all cozy at the end of the evening with a vast array of books to chose from the living room was a lovely big open space with a huge dining table to accomodate us all the climbing enthusiast that was just doing the finishing touches when we arrived was lovely my only issue is that the hot tub wasnt heated for our arrival so we couldn't make use of it for our first night and we only booked 3 nights and the younger ones was disappointed

We had a great stay over New Year. The cottage was perfect for our group's needs and was very spacious with lots of social space and comfy bedrooms. Great hot tub. Location was very convenient and close to Kendal. We would definitely come back.
Matthew
Excellent cottage in a very secluded group of houses. Parking for 34 cars, hot tub, spacious living room and quality kitchen appliances equipment. Still some work to do such as adding a utility room and downstairs toilet, but otherwise a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Michelle
Had a really wonderful stay at Dragonsfell, you feel away from the busy crowds with beautiful surrounding views, that includes the Yorkshire Dales as well as the the Lake District. Yet only a short drive from Kendal and Windermere not far away. Only 2 miles from M6, Junction 37. Exactly as it looks in the photos, characterful and spacious cottage, yet cosy, with most items we needed. The hottub was a great addition and the front garden very secure for our small dog. The owner was easy to communicate with and very helpful. Appreciate the very quick turnaround preparations, given we moved from another cottage at very short notice. Dragonsfell is at the time of writing a work in progress, with a few areas to finish, which the owner is planning to implement. However, this did not detract from our enjoyment, we came home feeling really refreshed after staying here. We would definitely recommend a choosing this cottage and would book here again.
We had a great family holiday. Venue terrific. Dragonsfell is a new let undergoing improvements. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped, the lounge spacious and the bedrooms comfortable. When the improvements are complete and the owners plans put into place Dragonsfell will be the perfect holiday home.
We stayed for 2 nights along with another family. Pros Kitchen appliances are great, huge livingdining room. Great location for hikes or going to other attractions. Cons After arriving to the property we notice the ensuite was locked up and messages the owner. Then we were notified the ensuite had a leak and we can no longer use it. This leaves the 10 of us with one shower, and two separate toilet. This was a big let down. Then one of the room down stairs was very dusty and the sheets had yellow marks, the pillow cases also had black marks. We had to put towels over it to sleep. However other rooms was perfectly fine. The next day owner did give us the access to other clean sheets. The Jacuzzi took a whole day to heat up so we only used it for one day. Another let down was the flooring squeaks so bad the whole cottage can hear it. Also if you want to throw party avoid here as neighbours will. complain very badly.
