Gallowgate Cottage Reviews

Emma
We really enjoyed our stay at this cosy little cottage. The location is fantastic, just a short walk to Richmond’s centre, which meant we didn’t need to bother with the car at all. Loved the thoughtful touches like tennis balls for the dogs, a welcome cakeand a bottle of prosecco. The board games and books kept us entertainedand the hot tub was a real treat. It’s well-equipped with dishwasher and laundry capsules, which was handy. Overall, a lovely place for a relaxing getaway!

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was super cosy and well stocked with everything we needed. The owners were lovely and made us feel welcome with a nice cake and wine - such a kind touch! It’s a bit on a busy roadand parking’s in a nearby street, so not ideal if you want peace and quiet. Also, those steep steps might be tricky for anyone less steady on their feet. Still, a charming place overall!
Emma
Really enjoyed the cosy cottage, hot tub bonus!

We had a lovely stay at this charming cottage. The interior is tastefully decorated and feels cosy. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we neededand the crockery and utensils are of good quality. The hot tub on the patio was a perfect little treat after a day out. The beds were comfortable and made for a good night's sleep. The only downside was the location - it's on a busy road and quite surrounded by houses, which made it a bit noisy. With two dogs, we wished for a bit more space, but nearby walks helped us get around that. Overall, a great place!
Emma

The layout suits us alland the well-equipped kitchen was a real plus. We lucked out with bad weather, so the board games kept us entertained for hours. The hot tub was a real treat after a long dayand the welcome treats were a nice touch. The dog bed and bowls were super handy. We’d definitely come back and recommend it!

This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
Lightwater Valley - HG4 3HT

Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family.  The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower.  For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel.  Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too.  If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.
Fountains Abbey - HG4 3DY

This is an outstanding world heritage site located close to Ripon in the North Yorkshire area. Nature lovers will be in their element with an abundance of wide open spaces to explore and there are special guided tours for families.  Some of the highlights may include seeing wild deer and bats during your visit.  The grounds are fantastic to wander round but there is also an Elizabethan Mansion, Victorian Church, Georgian Water Garden and the finest example of Cistercian Abbey ruins in the country - Well worth a visit!
