Horseshoe Cottage Reviews

We absolutely loved our few days in Horseshoe Cottage. The cottage was really lovely. It had everything youd need. We wanted a relaxing few days where we did absolutely nothing apart from relax and unwind the cottage and the village were perfect for this. The log fire was so cosy and there were plenty of spare logs with an honesty box where you could simply leave money for any extras you needed. The hot tub was a real treat and we enjoyed some time in there each night. It really soothes aches and pains perfect. The village was friendly with a lovely coffee shop just a few doors down and a handy store. Plenty of local takeaways if you couldnt be bothered to cook. Lots to see or visit nearby but we just wanted a few days doing nothing so we made the most of lazy days. We took our two dogs and it was great for them too. A really lovely short break in a great cottage. Wed definitely visit again.
Nicola
The cottage was beautiful, had everything you could possibly need, it was spotless and very welcoming. Will definitely be recommending it x
Lovely cottage to spend a few days in! The hot tub was an awesome little extra. And it was at the perfect temperature for when we arrived. The cottage was clean and tidy, and had everything we needed.
Absolutely lovely! Had a very relaxing stay at this beautiful cottage. The hot tub and private enclosed garden were a massive bonus. The owners were very friendly and quick to sort out a little problem that occurred. I would highly recommend a stay here and I will most likely return. Thank you Emma and Darren!
Gerard
House was small but quaint although it was quite dark and it could use better lighting in the living room. Small fridgefreezer so pointless bringing your own frozen food as no room to store in the tiny freezer compartment. I didn't realise from reading the ad, but the house is actually on the main road so there can be noise from traffic and from people. Neighbour was quite noisy especially at weekend when they were working on their motorcycle revving the engine so sometimes made sitting outside a non starter. On plus side, the downstairs toiletbathroom was large and clean with a huge bath. The hot tub was great and big enough for two people comfortably. Private parking was a bonus. The village was very scenic and people friendly. Most people seem to have a dog so is very dog friendly. Nice walks with the dog and lots of rabbits everywhere. Close to a Budgens shop so recommend you don't bring a lot of food and buy what you need when you arrive. Overall a lovely village location but would have better if house had been in a quieter spot.
Heather
Thank you to the hosts for a perfect stay. We have stayed here a few times now. It's quaint and in a lovely part of the village...Perfect for four legged friends and excellent for walking the many Public Footpaths around the cottage and local area. This cottage is a perfect little get away. Clean, tidy everything you need and maintained to a very high standard. Thanks again Emma and Darren
We really enjoyed our stay at Horseshoe Cottage. The accommodation was perfect for our needs and South Cave is lovely. The welcome pack was a really nice thought and even included dog treats for our labrador. Would definitely recommend staying here.
Anthony
Had a great stay. Cottage is lovely and has everything you could need. Hot tub at the end of the day is an added bonus. The lake is beautiful and the fishing is very good. Would highly recommend and will return.
Stuart
Lovely cottage, well maintained. On our short stay we visited York & Bridlington which was less than 1 hours drive away & Beverley which was less than 30 minutes away also there are local walks to do if you do not want to travel. There is a cafe next door, a local shop just a couple of minutes away or if you prefer you can take a 15 minute walk into the centre where they have a post officeconvenience store, Chinese restaurant, fish & chip shop, 3 pubs that allow dogs 2 of these sell food and also a few other little shops. There was a nice welcome package for us when we arrived & also tea & coffee in case you forget to bring your own. To round it all off there was a hot tub to soak in after returning from a day out, would definitely stay there again if travelling in that area, it is a lovely friendly village.
A lovely cottage in a fantastic location. The local people are very friendly and will stop and chat to you in the street. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and feels like a home rather than a clinical white walls hotel. The hot tub is just the icing on the cake and under cover so the weather is not an issue. All round lovely place to stay with everything you could possibly need. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definately book again.
Lovely cottage set in a lovely village, couple of great pubs in walking distance, and had lovely meal at the fox. ..really comfortable and clean good amenities enjoyed open fire and hot tub at end of busy day, definitely recommend property
Gorgeous little cottage in a lovely friendly village. The owners had thought of everything to make our stay so enjoyable. Dog friendly cafe, great pub and restaurant in the village with great walks near by too. So lovely to just relax in the hottub after a good walk and then curl up infront of the log fire with a film on netflix. We didn't want to leave. Thanks Emma and Darren.
Heather
Return guest. Love this cosy little cottage. Perfect for a holiday for all. Walks, cafes, restaurants, pubs, nearby. Lots of walking areas and lots of areas for the four legged friend too. Thank you to Emma and Darren for your hospitality again. This little cottage is clean and tidy, its perfect. I even used the log burner which made it extremely cosy. Thank you again.
Jonathan
Super cottage in a lovely rustic village. The property was very clean and tidy with attractive features and touches. Off street parking was very helpful too. We felt very much at home and were made to feel welcome by our hosts. Highly recommend this!
We loved our stay at Horseshoe cottage. It was in a perfect location for exploring the beautiful countryside around it with our dog and South Cave had some great pubs, cafs and little shops to enjoy. It is in easy reach of York and Hull where there is plenty to do and see including shows and a Park Run in the country park under the Humber Bridge. The cottage itself was immaculate with very tasteful interior decor, cosy and comfortable with everything we needed. We enjoyed the hot tub which was clean and always warm and only a hop skip and jump from the back door so no need to get cold! There was a very generous welcome pack with cake, wine, milk etc and teacoffee plus biscuits for our dog! Emma checked in via text to make sure everything was ok which was a lovely touch. We with thoroughly recommend a stay at Horseshoe cottage to anyone thinking of booking.
Matthew
We loved this place, its small and cosy yet has all the mod cons like Hive heating, wifi, decent electric shower, smart TVs and a hot tub with a roof! The beds were comfy, the house is well presented and well stocked. The oven cooker is top notch too making meal times easy. There is a well stocked shop Budgens within a 2 minute walk, a cafe in 30 seconds walk and three pubs within 20mins walk. There is a good Chinese and pizza takeaway with a Londis nearby too. Hull is about 25mins away whilst York Leeds in about an hour drive. We found it a tad noisy in the mornings with the master bedroom being on the front and the toilet kept getting blocked which is also downstairs at the back of the house frustrating for those midnight pee runs. The fridge is fine but the freezer is a tiny compartment at the top of the fridge limiting frozen foods. A lot of the tourist leaflets were 2022 or older and the suggested walk on laminated paper is taken from a map in 2008 so is no longer accurate with road names and access routes due to renovation in the area but this is such a minor grievance The owners left us a nice welcome gift including some milk and teacoffee for when we arrived. Briefly spoke to the owner Darren before departing on the final day who seemed pleasant enough! Overall we would def recommend and look to revisit in the future!
Lovely little property that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Nice setting with everything you need around you. The little cafe was lovely for a nice cuppa and some cake. We would definitely recommend this property for a nice romantic little escape. Thank you.
Lovely place very dog friendly
The cottage has everything you need for the perfect break and the hot tub was always a welcome addition at the end of a long day sightseeing. Would highly recommend to future travellers to East Riding or North Yorkshire visitors
Denise
What a lovely cottage, it's been so nicely decorated we felt relaxed and at home whenever we arrived back there from our ventures. We were only there a few nights but felt so comfortable we could have stayed much, much longer. Would definitely look to book again if returning to the area as that's lovely too!
We had a wonderful stay at Horseshoe Cottage. The cottage is so cosy and immaculately clean, the hot tub is the perfect way to end the day. The village of south cave has a few nice pubs and restaurants and is in an ideal location for exploring Yorkshire. We will definitely return.
Christine
This is our second stay at one of Emma and Darren's lovely cottages the first being Willow lodge in South Cave and both are amazing. Horseshoe Cottage is so comfortable and beautifully furnished with everything we could think of to make our stay perfect. The hot tub was amazing and the off road parking is always a plus with us. Thank you for the welcome gifts of milk, wine and Drewtons rum and butter fruit cake. The West End caf is only 3 doors away for lovely breakfasts or coffee and a cake and the neighbours are all most welcoming. Many thanks for a lovely stay. Chris and Dave.
Angela
Horshoe Cottage is beautiful and very well maintained throughout. We really appreciated Emma's welcome pack, such a lovely caring thought. The hot tub is great after a day out or a relaxing day at the cottage.Nearby West End cafe is good and very friendly.Cave Castle and the golf club is worth a visit,we took a walk round the grounds most evenings with our dog.Everyone we met were so friendly and welcomed our dog.My daughter and I would recommend Horshoe Cottage to anyone. Thank you Emma. Angela and Joanne.
Christopher
We had a lovely stay at Horseshoe Cottage and we will most definitely be back. I do however have one suggestion. We traveled from the US and have no idea which type of trash goes into which bin!! I think it would be helpful for overseas travelers if you were to include an explanation in your handbook. Other than that, everything was perfect.
Stephanie
We had a lovely stay at Horseshoe cottage, and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, quiet stay with the luxury of a hot tub. Couldn't fault the owners or the property!
Stuart
Had a lovely stay, really surprised to find arrival gifts and touches like milk and tea and coffee in the accomodation much appreciated. Good local pub recommended for dinner didn't disappoint. Had one small issue whilst we were there resolved very quickly. Highly recommend a visit to Beverley
Wow Wow Wow what a house very home from home had everything you would need even a hot water bottle . A lovely welcome gift and a pint of milk lovely touch . The Hot Tub was amazing so warming after a cold day had the last evening in it and the Lights were great so highly recommend you have at least one evening in it when dark .Locals very friendly and highly recommend West End Cafe just 3 doors down . This Property was highly decorated with beautiful furnishings and just so welcoming. We will be recommending this to family & friends and we will be back . Thank you Darren & Emma for sharing your beautiful Cottage . Highly recommend the Deep in Hull York and Park & ride it in .Beverley is a beautiful town too . Thank you again Sam & Ian
Heather
Absolutely fantastic little cottage. Lots of walking areas to explore. Excellent location for sightseeing and East Yorkshire coastal visits. Super host, preparation for visit outstanding, very well presented. Well equipped and very comfortable. Will be back for another stay.

Sandra

Susanne
Horseshoe cottage is an absolute little gem. It is so cozy and comfortable that it was a challenge to leave it at all during the day. The cottage is spotless and everything you might need is provided for. The hottub was a very welcome sight at the end of the day of exploration and the wooden pergola meant it could be enjoyed no matter what the weather had in store for you. The temperature was perfect and we had full use until the end of our stay. Our host Emma made sure everything was to our liking and the welcome gifts were much appreciated. South Cave is a beautiful, friendly little village with everything you might need, but if you fancy a little expedition further afield do try to visit Beverley, a bustling market town with an array of independent shops. We couldn't fault our stay and we would highly recommend Horseshoe Cottage. Would we be back??? Absolutely!!! Thank you for making our holiday memorable for all the right reasons. Susanne, Chris and Mia xx
Lovely cottage in a very nice location. Beautifully equipped with everything you could possibly need with great attention to detail. Everything was clean and pristine. Much appreciated was the Welcome Gift and the milk in the fridge. We would certainly recommend Horseshoe Cottage and hope to visit again. Carol and Mike
Snug, cosy and clean. A lovely little cottage for a weekend getaway hot tub was most welcoming after a long walk around south and north cave. Lovely pub just a 15 minute walk away called The Fox and Coney that serves excellent food.
This cottage i mean WOW, we went there just to get away for a few days with our dog and also to relax, we certainly enjoyed our time there we was very chilled all throughout and the hot tub made our holiday more relaxing. Hot tub very clean, temperature of it was bang on, we also used it right up to the end of our holiday even on the last morning before we were due to leave. Comfortable bed, very cosy beautiful cottage. Some good walks and quite a few dog friendly pubsrestaurants in the area, felt very welcoming. They had some door stoppers which my springer would not leave alone
Nicola

Me and my daughter's thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Yorkshire and our stay at Horseshoe Cottage. It felt very homely and very welcoming. The property was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Emma and Darren are the loveliest of people and welcomed us to meet their horses. I hope we left the property as we found it and I can't wait to come back again. Thank you!
Stephanie
An amazing visit! The cottage was a home away from home. Upon arrival I was expecting it to be good but not that good Im not complaining though. From the moment we stepped in we were greeted by some lovely cookies and cake, milk in the fridge just what we needed after the drive there everything they could do to make us feel welcome was done. There were even doggy treats for Molly! The area is very friendly and the cafe just a few doors down made us feel welcome and told us about the area its also dog friendly. We had trips to Scarborough, Hull, Hornsea and spent our final day in South Cave. The hot tub was fantastic too and my son made great use of it every day. Ive already recommended this cottage to family and friends and we will be visiting again in the future. Thank you its just what we needed to unwind.
Francesca
Beautiful house which was clean and welcoming and we couldn't have asked for better. The location is great with there being plenty to do nearby. We all loved the hot tub and had a great time at the cottage.
