Just an amazing place to stay. Relaxing and away from it all - just pure heaven. The views and sunrises are wonderful, and the lodge is so cosy and homely. Our 2nd time visiting and we will definitely be back again.
Joan
Love these cottages! TBH this isn't for folks who want active holidays, there is walking, quiet and the sea which is just what I wanted. It is remote, so be prepared to drive as there are no supermarkets, shops, restaurants etc. Not a bad thing, just be prepared.
Juliet
Beautiful lodge, very clean and well maintained. Take your own food, there are no nice eating places for miles!
Jillian

Raymond
Ideal situation for anyone wanting an away from it all break, if you dont mind the remoteness and a bit of a bumpy access road . The lodge is perfect, quiet, with spectacular views across the Solway Firth to Cumbria on a clear day. We even had a brief visit from a roe deer, just a few metres from the lodge. Visited twice last year, and once ( so fRead morear ! ) this year. We think that says it all, cant wait to return. Hide

Khansa
Absolutely stunning and such a good value for money. Don't even have to leave the lodge when there's a view like that outside your window!
Jill
Second time visiting and loved it as much. Sitting looking out on the view in all weathers is wonderful and in the hot tub looking at the stars with a glass or two is even better. The lodge is exceptional well equipped down to the little things which I always take to self catering places but do not need here eg salt and pepper, kitchen roll, bacofo il etc. we will certainly be back.
Wendy
We love staying at Lodge No 2 and always have a really restful and relaxing time. It is immaculately clean and very well equipped for an enjoyable holiday, whatever the weather. The hot tub is wonderful and we really appreciate the level of cleanliness with it being checked every morning. Thank you to the owners for the lovely arrival gifts and als o to the cleaning team who really do make the lodge sparkle. We will definitely be returning next year.
Amanda
Heaven! We had such an amazing weeks stay. The lodge and location were just perfect. You feel relaxed from the moment you arrive. I was wanting to move all our furniture in to permanently stay by the end of it. We have already booked again for next year!! Thank you for a fabulous time!!
Raymond
Beautiful location, quiet, parking next to lodge, site security good - keypad access and night lights. Farm track from main road requires some large holes filled in. Lodge very cosy, all lodge facilities worked with useful manuals for guidance, if needed. Suggestions on restaurants to visit plus local maps good. Ideal for anyone wanting to get away from it all, our second visit, in 6 months, the second as good as the first.
Janet
Beautiful place to stay but the water issue should be mentioned in the booking ( luckily we took bottle water ) shops are a car journey away and to eat somewhere decent its a 10 mile drive ( we didnt mind as we also live rurally ) the walks and views were amazing
Les
A great place to go and relax. Spotlessly clean, well equipped. Will be booking again for next year.
Fiona
If you are looking for total luxury and relaxation, then this is the place! Rascarrel Bay lodge 2 was absolutely perfect for us to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. From our arrival to us sadly leaving, it was an amazing holiday. The lodge is spotlessly clean with everything in it you could ever need. The arrival gifts were a lovely surprise and it was so relaxing sitting in the hot tub looking out over the Solway Firth. Thank you. We shall certainly be back!
Frank
Enjoyable break
Elaine
Its a stunning lodge.
Alan
Very easy, well informed booking and arrival information. A fantastic cottage, in a lovey setting was very clean, comfortable and relaxing, with all the amenities required. We will definitely be returning.
Simon
Beautiful lodge, location & view, even in the stormiest weather. Not the most convenient place for shops & tourist attractions, be prepared to travel.
Judith
Fabulous location, wonderfully quiet with great views and lots of wildlife. First rate accommodation.
Roger
Our 4th stay at Rascarrel Bay Lodges and we are never disappointed. We will be back, you can be sure of that! Totally loved it...
Raymond
If you're after a quiet, peaceful holiday, with beautiful scenery on the doorstep, you can't find anything better. The accommodation is superb, absolutely spotless, with everything you can possibly need, plus a few extras! A lovely vase of fresh flowers, a little box of delicious chocolates, a small packet of scrumptious fudge, a rather nice bottle of wine ( already chilled in a wine cooler), and a pint of milk, plus some bottled water to set us off - what a welcoming start. Reluctant to leave

We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.

An outdoor activity center suitable for families. Featuring one of Europe's longest zip wires, jeep driving, grass sledging, archery, outdoor scooters. A mix of fun and adreneline rides and a lot more.

Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ
about 17 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
