The property itself is lovely, good base to explore the surrounding area and spacious to feel comfortable in, outside area with hot tub to relax and unwind in. We had a few issues during our stay, which were looked into and rectified efficiently. All of the staff were really kind and helpful a big thank you to Martha and the team. The restaurant is a really great little place on site with fantastic food and views across the lake.
Beautiful location, and the accommodation looked amazing. We were a bit disappointed with the cleanliness, a proper clean was desperately needed dead spiders on the walls, build up of dirt in corners it just felt a bit grubby. Outside area was nice but again needed attention. Only one of our showers was hot an issue with no hot water at all was fixed but not totally and we had a few issues with the hot tub temperature and couldnt use it for a couple of days as was far too hot one day and too cold the next! All in all a lovely stay but a bit of time needs to be spent to really make this lovely place have the 5 factor it deserves.
Our family had a lovely week at 8 Lake view. The lodge was lovely clean, spacious and everything we needed. The hot tub was amazing and maintained throughout our stay. We had an issue with the boiler not working when we arrived but after popping down to customer services they told us how to rectify it it was now after office hours and after a double check on YouTube my hubby sorted it! Only recommendation would be to supply plastic glasses for use in the hot tub for safety reasons and possibly a bigger clothes airer for drying washing! Thank you for a lovely stay!
We had a lovely stay at 8 Lake View, very spacious lodge and well furnished and decorated. Lovely big decking area with hot tub. We had a call midweek asking if everything was ok, and felt the service in all respects was very good.
Wonderful find. Secluded and peaceful slice of luxury. Celebrating a BIG birthday, Sally had arranged a bottle of bubbly, balloons and a card! Perfectly located, coastal towns within easy reach. We really enjoyed our daily hot tub treat. This property suited our family of four and pooch too. Highly recommend.
Angela
Wow, this is a fantastic lodge, expectations were met and more. Weather was not great and the lodge made up for that. Would definitely recommend and will look to come back soon. Site is really beautiful for this time of year.
Michael
Excellent all around , clean warm and tidy, hot tub a bounus with the cost of energy ,thank you for a lovely holiday.
Had a fantastic stay at number 8 Lake View. It was our fifth time at Stonerush Lakes but first time staying in this lodge. Very clean, and really well equipped. Our favourite lodge so far that we have stayed in due to the bigger bedroom with dressing area and larger decking. Would definitely book this lodge again and highly recommend it. Our senior beagle also loved her holiday and pottering about on the deck with her treat ball thanks to the owners for allowing a dog in their lodge
Number 8 lake view was very cosy & clean , was just as it was advertised, had everything we needed ,the hottub was perfect ,lots of room outside perfect for our dog, very secure .
Richard
Had a wonderful week here with our 2 boys age 3 and 6. The cabin was amazing, very comfortable and had everything we needed a few areas behind blinds could do with a bit more attention during cleaning. The location is secluded and it was so great to be somewhere with no light pollution. The cabins themselves are spaced a good distance apart, meaning you don't really hear anyone. We ate at the restaurant on site a few times, with the food and service being excellent.
On the whole, it was a lovely property and a very enjoyable week. There were no issues until the final morning when the clean linen was just dumped at the front door and as the door opens out, it difficult to open. When we did eventually push the door open, it was too heavy for us to move. We then had to squeeze our luggage passed. Not very considerate
Darren
Very nice setting where the park is , had a few issues with the cleanliness of the lodge could of down with ta deep clean. Tried booking a table and the take away service they offered at the restaurant on the park but when asking to book either we were turned away each time , you could tell the staff were not bothered when my husband went in to the restaurant the staff were sat around and nudged each other to see who was going to get up first to speak to my husband . The day we left the staff were swearing walking past our lodge whilst we were packing up the car to leave mumbling to each other about cleaning the lodges what their job was to do such a shame as such a nice park but got the feeling the staff didnt want to help at all
Patricia
We stayed at 8 Lake View. It's a lovely lodge in a fantastic location. Hot tub was a great extra. A nice welcome pack on arrival, including Cornish milk in the fridge. The lodge was very well laid out, with a large kichendinerlounge. Only disappointment were the mattresses. They were basic open coil, with little support maybe upgrade to pocket sprung? as everything else was such high quality, these did stand out. Restaurant had a limited selection, but all of it was absolutely delicious! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall, a fab break away and we would definitely return.
Accommodation was lovely. Could do with a welcome pack inside for info on bins etc.
Christie
Absolutely loved our like at 8 Lake View and genuinely didnt have a bad word to say about it the whole time we were there! Everything was top quality, incredibly clean and very comfortable. We cannot wait to come back, felt like a truly luxurious week away. Thank you
The lodge was lovely but it could have been cleaner on arrival and needs some updating including the bed in the main room that the mattress needs replacing as previously raised. The extractor fan in the ensuite was not working and the handle on the door in the twin room was wobbly. Whilst the lodge was generally clean there was still a lot of dust on the floor and stains on the counter surfaces. The lodge itself is wonderful and the hot tub was fantastic. It was suitable for a toddler too which was great but could do with some greater upkeep. To also note it was very difficult to get in contact with the Old MillReception and they didnt seem very helpful once I was able to get in touch. The restaurant menu as advertised in the lodge was not the same as when we ate there with the food being nice but very average. Whilst take away services are advertised it was not available if the restaurant has bookings which seemed odd to advertised the facility given the restaurant only opened a few nights a week. We did enjoy our stay.
We have just had a fantastic week at Stonerush Lakes, the location is stunning and very peaceful and relaxing. The lodge itself was nicely decorated and furnished with plenty of space. We were there with our young son and it felt very safe and plenty of space for him to play. Problem with our heating was very swiftly dealt with by the staff there. The hot tub was fantastic and the beautiful location surrounded by trees and hills made it even more wonderful. Would highly recommend staying!
Charlotte
The best place to chill and relax. The lodge had everything you need. Cant wait to return
The lodge was just like the pictures on the website lovely and spaces clean and tidy. The only down side is The bed is not as comfortable as I'd of hoped that's why I marked the comfort down as everything else was great. I would highly 'recommended this property if you want a relaxing holiday and would definitely visit again.
Quiet, secluded cabin. Very clean and relaxing would highly recommend
Amanda
The lodge was great, everything we needed, hot tub was amazing. We thought the food was ok in the restaurant, except the steak, which was tough and overpriced. Takeaway was overpriced, the curries were bland. The mattress on the king size bed isn't comfortable, this was complained about in previous reviews in 2019. Not too far from Looe, Fowey and Polperro, all gorgeous places to visit. Would return.
Sophie
Perfect for our needs. We loved it. The only negative was that there was no water on the middle Friday. We had no notice either and it was off for over 5 hours.
Just returned from a brilliant family holiday. A lovely place to unwind and being in March was very peaceful with only a handful of people that we saw all week on the site which is very handy with 2 very excitable children both 3 and under, but was close enough to local villages such as Looe and Fowey to have our daily trips to the beach. Loved our time there and will definitely be returning.
Stayed with Charteroak before and this was the reason we chose Stonehurst this time. Very good views and very well maintained grounds.
We thoroughly enjoyed our break at stonerush. Lovely takeaways lodge good and comfortable. It was lovely to be spoilt with hot tub as well. Definitely going back again.
Excellent and very spacious lodge. Location great for easy access to LooePolperro area accessed via narrow steep lane. A bit scary when you meet one of the service vehicles coming the other way. Fairly isolated and wonderfully peaceful, just what we were looking for. Only one small niggle concerns the king size bed in main bedroom. The mattress needs renewing. It was also fitted with a double mattress protector which doesnt fit the king size mattress and kept riding up as a result. Otherwise quality of fittings excellent and spotlessly clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Food in the Old Mill great quality and good value, very welcoming. The free WiFi worked well, which is just as well as we couldnt get a phone signal all week Vodafone and Virgin. Small welcome pack tea bags etc appreciated.
The property we booked became unavailable as we were on our way due to last ... The property we booked became unavailable as we were on our way due to last tennent damage but you called and sorted a alternative that turned out to be better it's the fourth time we've booked with and never any problem see you next year x
Nichola
Found the holiday cottage and site lovely. I never said at the time but the sheets on the ber were stained in places. On the 3rd night I decided to wash then myself and all the Mark's came out of them. But other than that it was a great lodge with great facilities at the lodge. We all loved the hot tub. Would recommend this place.
I have lodged a formal complaint about this accommodation with the management and owners. It has unfortunately been affected in the score I gave, not only for Sykes, as I made you aware on our first night of the problems in the automatic form that you send, and no one has been in touch to see if things were resolved which essentially means this is probably a pointless exercise that no one will read either. The score has been low with the accommodation too as Im awaiting a response to my complaint.
The lodge is absolutely wonderful, spacious, clean and very comfortable. Site is lovely and secluded with great views. No phone signal at all but our lodge had good WiFi connection. Hot tub was fab! Food was great in Old Mill. Only negative would be how we were made to feel upon arrival. On all Sykes paperwork it says 3pm but the site say 4pm. We arrived about 2.30, went to reception thinking we could have a drink whilst waiting. The reception we got wasnt great we were told we were very early, check in was 4pm when I explained the email said 3pm she just said well its wrong, its 4pm! Also, I had booked a table in the restaurant for the first evening it had taken me three emails beforehand but had received one back saying we were booked in! The receptionist checked and said we werent booked in I showed her the email, she looked again and said we had been booked in the following night but she would try and move the booking. There was no apology that it was their error, we felt like we were at fault! As it happened, the lodge was ready for us to go in straightway it was beautiful. The meal in The Old Mill was fabulous and drinks reasonably priced would definitely recommend it! Reception just needed to be bit warmer!
Stonerush Lakes was the most relaxing, tranquil place we have ever been to. The lodge was perfect, very comfortable and well equipped. We particularly liked the hot tub and spent a few hours relaxing after a day out. Stonerush Lakes was in a great location and didn't take long to get to places. We will definitely make a return visit.
