Crooke Barn Reviews

Crooke barn was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Owners Gillian and Steve were very helpful and provided us with plenty of logs. The only thing we would have found useful was a handle in the shower as it could get quite slippery when wet. We had a lovely holiday.
Just got back from a wonderful short break staying at Crooke Barn. First impression was that it was a lot bigger than picture lead you to believe. Barn is cosy, well equipped everything you need. We were welcomed by Steve, who gave us a quick tour & summary. All I can say is that we would definitely would stay again. Thankyou Steve & Gillian
Fantastic barn and absolutely lovely hosts, thank you Gillian and Steve for the amazing stay and the special touches x
Gillian and Steve are wonderful hosts and the scones, fresh milk and eggs were a lovely welcome. The barn is everything it says it is and we loved the hot tub and garden. Unfortunately whilst we were there our dog took ill but thanks to the useful information Gillian had left we were able to get her seen and after a few stressful days she slowly improved until she was back to normal. Gillian when she knew our dog was ill left her some cheese biscuits as that is what her dog likes this shows how kind they are as hosts. I would recommend this property to anyone as it is a fantastic place to stay . Thank you from Geoff, Sue and not forgetting Maisie

One of the best rentals we have had. Owners are friendly and approachable but discreet. A perfect place to get away from the madness of the world, switch off, and enjoy what nature has to offer. Pretty much just the birdsong for company. Barn is superbly equipped and very comfortable. Hot Tub perfectly situated to enjoy the views of the countryside. Recommend to anyone looking to destress.
Our 2nd visit to Crooke Barn, can only describe it as perfect. Steve and Gillian are fantastic hosts. Thank you.
Our stay was perfect and exactly what we were hoping for. Great location, slightly remote but short drive to local town. Very peaceful and the hosts made us feel very welcomed. The little treats when we arrived for ourselves and our dog was a lovely little touch. The hot water went during our visit couldn't not be avoided but the hosts were super apologetic and sorted it really quickly, even providing a bottle of bubbly which we enjoyed in the hot tub! Highly recommend this stay and would love to revisit
My partner and I were extremely satisfied with our stay at Crooke Barn. The directions were spot on and attention to detail in describing the facilities made you feel like you were there in person. On arrival Steve made us feel relaxed and comfortable. Communication with Gillian was also extremely pleasant and very helpful. Crooke barn is a beautiful place, gorgeous surroundings, decorated to a superb standard with everything you need for a relaxing and stress free escape from reality. The garden and hot tub was where we spent most of our time, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend booking a get away to this beautiful location. Top marks all round !

We can not say enough good things about our stay. Everything was better than we could wish for and have already recommended to family and friends
A very clean and comfortable accommodation with all the facilities you would need. Lovely setting with great views. The hosts are very friendly and keen to help if needed. Didnt use the hot tub, but its location was great. Would recommend.
We love Crooke barn! This was our second holiday at this wonderful property and it was just as magical as the first time we stayed. It is a little gem hidden in the beautiful Devon countryside. The owners have thought of everything from the well equipped kitchen and excellent bathroom to the fantastic fairy lit hot tub! Thank you Steve and Gillian.
Lovely place to stay, a washing machine would be of benefit with the dogs. Be careful on the lanes to the approach, as roads are narrow and in a poor state of repair. Overall a lovely relaxing time, the hot tub wonderful.
Absolutely fabulous stay lodge was stunning fantastic location already recommended to friends to book up
What a wonderful place to stay for our 40th wedding anniversary away from everything. Thank you for the bottle of bubbles it was greatly appreciated it was very kind The barn is gorgeous and spacious with great views from the wonderful hot tub. We had a very chilled weekend we will return. Thank you very much for the great welcome pack you thought of everything even treats for our Pups. Gillian and Steve were very welcoming with lots of helpful information about the area.

This is a wonderful lodge it has everything you could possibly ask for bed was very comfortable, my husband has a bad back but no back issues due to a poor mattress the mattress was obviously of a good quality. There is a lovely hot tub with wonderful views, we saw roe deer in one of the fields below and buzzards flying above. Greeted by the owners who texted later on to see if we needed anything.

We had a wonderful time at Crook Barn in January 2024. Steve and Gillian met us when we arrived and were incredibly friendly and welcoming, showing us how everything worked and giving us some great info on local walks. The property was immaculate and done to a very high standard the enclosed garden was perfect for our small dog and the hot tub was one of the best we have used. We had car trouble midway through the week and Steve and Gillian couldn't have been more helpful, even offering to replenish our stock of wine and groceries! There really couldn't have been a better place to be without transport as we walked for miles from the door in beautiful countryside. We would definitely return to Crook Barn for another visit in the future!
I can't recomend this accommodation more! The owners were kind, welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. The welcome basket was lovely and they included a handwritten card and pup treats. The hot tub was hot on arrival and the apartment had everything one could need. Although the weather was very wet, the area was still gorgeous to explore. What a magnificent place to stay. We will definitely return!
Alison
What a lovely cottage, the photos do not do this cottage justice. It is so spacious & everything has been thought about. The owners are so friendly & always available if needed. Garden has a lovely view & if youre lucky youll even see the deer, like we did. Hot tub is always & added bonus. A great get away to chill & enjoy. Just be careful in the lanes on the approach. We will definately return.
We found Gillian and Steve very friendly. Received a lovely welcome basket to start the holiday. Also included the dog. If you required anything they did say just give them a shout. Hot tub was very enjoyable after a day out. Garden very safe for the dog.
Excellent property, very high spec and beautifully maintained

We had a wonderful few days in Crooke barn. The owners are such lovely people and very welcoming. The welcome pack was a lovely touch too. The cottage is warm and cosy and is bigger than it looks in the photos. It was absolutely perfect, well equipped for all our needs. The hot tub was amazing, especially after a busy day driving around visiting places such as, Exeter, Exmouth, Topsham Barnstaple etc. We highly recommend Crooke Barn, you will not be disappointed. Many thanks again to Steve, Gillian & family x

Hot tub fabulous and perfect at any time of the day, fairy lights in the evening is a lovely touch The Mitre pub great for a Sunday Lunch.

I just had a lovely stay here with my boyfriend and my dog, Luna. We werent able to arrive until 8pm on a Friday evening, but SteveGillian made no problem of that nothing was too much bother! We arrived to a lovely welcome from Steve, who showed us round and explained everything to us and we had the loveliest welcome pack, which was a really nice touch! The barn itself was super clean, super cosy the bed gets a 1010! and as with other reviews, even nicer than the pictures! The garden was perfect for our dog as all fenced in. We would 100 recommend, and we hope to come back too in the warmer months! Thanks Steve and Gillian!

Lovely place, very cozy and romantic. If you want a peaceful break this is perfect. Steve and Gillian are lovely
I have just had a wonderful week at Crooke Barn I had booked the barn to take my elderly mother on a short break. I arrived to a lovely Welcome from Steve & Gillian, a wonderful welcome pack of essentials, plus scones & cream. A basket full of logs and a bucket of kindling for the wood burner. It was a very safe space for my sausage dogs as the garden is fenced well, my mother had no worries of falling over as it is all on one level. Beautiful views, safe, enclosed garden, & I enjoyed the hot tub very much. The bed was so comfortable, overall the facilities were fantastic, they have thought of everything. The hospitality was fantastic, Steve very kindly changed my tyre for me as I had a puncture, Gillian then very helpfully sent me the details of a local trusted tyre garage to book into for repair. I will definatley book again! Many thanks Mandy
