Five Elements Cottage Reviews

Christian
Lovely property in a perfect location for where we need to be situated. Providing a perfect quiet get away in a beautiful surroundings just minutia from the beach. Extremely helpful and attentive hosts. Will definitely look to return in the near future. Many thanks again.
Stephen
The pictures advertising the cottage are quite old. The furniture is wellworn now and could at least be cleaned. Several things were broken like a shower head and a window, which we were not told about before we went. The general presentation was nice, but again, let down by the cleaning standard. We did raise these points with the owner and they agreed, and plan repairs with better checks before guest arrival. The steps down to the cottage could be tricky for some and there is quite a big speed bump to the car park. It is away from any road noise and is warm with plenty of hot water.
We stayed here with our two dogs a family of five. The cottage and its facilites were faultless. Set in lovely grounds and peaceful setting just a stones throw from the beautiful Perranporth and St Agnes. The hot tub was a bonus after a days exploring. The owners always on hand if there were any issues. The cottage was clean and comfortable and would definitely recommend it.

We had a lovely time staying in SariOlis cottage just outside of St Agnes. The cottage is beautiful and the perfect mix of old and new. It was clean, comfortable and very well set out. We were a family of 7 and had more than enough space. We surfed, hiked, cooked lovely food, relaxed by the log burner and in the hot tub. 4 of us attended a wonderful yoga class with Sari, which we would highly recommend. She very carefully crafted the class to a mix of abilities some who had practiced yoga for years and anothers first time. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you Sari and Oli for the wonderful stay.

We spent Christmas at Five Elements Cottage and it was great! So cosy and comfortable. We did manage the hot tub although the weather was terrible wind and rain in common with most of the country. We went on lots of beach walks and were within easy reach of Truro so could celebrate at the Cathedral which was lovely. Sari and Oli were very helpful. Highly recommend.
We had an incredible stay at Five Elements! The cottage is absolutely beautiful, a true home away from home with everything one could wish for. The owners were incredibly accommodating, and there was plenty of space for us and our two dogs. The views were breathtaking, and we especially enjoyed the beautiful log burner and hot tub. The central location allowed us to easily explore the entire south coast of Cornwall, and the local walks with our dogs were nothing short of amazing. We can't wait to come back again.

Excellent cottage lovey surroundings, great hot tub! ,, just could with a tumble dryer there..but every else was great.

Lovely stay, quiet location, perfect to rewind
The cottage is beautiful with a serene surrounding, secluded and private so just ... The cottage is beautiful with a serene surrounding, secluded and private so just what we were looking for It was excellently equipped with everything you needed and could want And the cottage itself is beautiful and quirky However the hot tub was a big disappointment for us as we always book somewhere with a hot tub and this was the worst hot tub we have ever had in the most expensive property we have ever stayed Alot of the jets don't work and for such a beautiful accommodation that sleeps 7 I would have expected a top of the range hot tub or spa bath However it is a basic range hot tub with only 1 pump attached when it can have 2 We walk in excess of 20,000 steps everyday and usually make extreme use of a hot tub It does not comfortably sit 4 people let alone 7 A few things bothered me that I noticed which could make this property even better, as it feels like the love is missing since the award was won in 2017 I had to clean the grill before using it as it was dirty, there was a disposable razor in top of the mirror from Previous people, the tops of the wardrobes are filthy discovered when we got our bags down at the end of the holiday so I wasn't looking for dust And the artwork around the house is not from the local area but from Zealand which I guess is a connection to the owners but it would have been nice to have local artwork Overall we enjoyed our stay very much it was a lovely private location with lots of great information for local walks and activities which we did, the cottage is a stunning building and you probably won't be disappointed

Five elements cottage is absolutely beautiful, it was everything I expected and more. We were looking for a really memorable accommodation and holiday to celebrate my 30th birthday and this was it! It is clean, well equipped and well maintained. It is also quiet and peaceful with a gorgeous view yet a great location to explore all areas within a short drive. We will highly recommend to all!

Five Elements Cottage is a nice property in a great location, handy for many places. It has a lovely kitchen and bathrooms. However, some more details of the layout and a floor plan on the website would be useful. For instance, it would be good to know that the utility where the freezer is located is at the opposite end of the cottage to the kitchen, and that the ground floor bathroom is not near any bedroom including the ground floor twin, which is directly off the living room. The stairs are steep and there are steps up or down some of them high to access every room, as all the rooms are on different levels. Also, there is a long flight of shallower steps plus 5 steep steps down to the front door from the car park, which makes moving heavy luggage a real task. None of this is really clear from the description. I dont think this cottage would be suitable for those with reduced mobility, as even the ground floor bedroom and bathroom are both down two steps from the living room. It would be great to have a welcome folder in the cottage with recommendations for local eating, places to drink etc, and instructions for the various appliances. This is the first place we have stayed that hasnt had such a folder. Also, the hot tub is a great addition, but all of the jets do not appear to be working, so it maybe needs servicing.

Had a lovely relaxing stay, spacious rooms comfortable beds. Lovely cosy living room with log burner. Would highly recommend staying here you won't be disappointed.
Fantastic cottage, clean, spacious and well equipped. Sari the host was so helpful and also runs yoga massage sessions which was brilliant. Would definitely recommend!
Lovely surprise of the christmas decorations, great central heating and comfortable bedding extra wide beds upstairs with plenty of wardrobes and chests . The hot tub was a bonus for long winter days. The cottage was very spacious with plenty of room for guests. Really enjoyed our stay . The gardens are very large with lots of outdoor furniture .The owner was a friendly nice helpful person . The hot tub area is surrounded by paved wall around and if you have a dog that part is enclosed so it was good for our dog to have his little walk about and stay safe.
Philip
There was a problem with the heating on arrival, due to weather conditions. We contacted the owner, she responded immediately. The problem was sorted the same evening.very helpful and very pleasant to talk to. Would love to spend Christmas at the cottage! Thank you
Denise
Beautiful cottage in lovely location, owners very good at communicating. Very well equipped to a high standard. The only thing I would highlight is that there are a lot of steps both outside and within the cottage which could be problematic for anyone with mobility issues.
Lovely cottage and beautiful surroundings within reach of great local beaches, attractions and places of interest.
Justyna
The cottage and its facilities are absolutely fantastic, we really enjoyed the hot tub, huge kitchen for food prep and barbecue. The beds were fantastic and comfortable for a decent night's sleep and the location is very central, close to local amenities and the A30 to get to different towns. On the other hand we were disappointed by the delayed responsiveness of the host as sometimes it would take more than a day for them to get back to us for requests especially as we had infants with us. The house needed additional cleaning, we found a half eaten dog bowl under the sofa and there a stagnant smell of dog in the sofa with hairs sticking to clothes after sitting there. The bathroom door upstairs could have done with a lock too. The steps going down to the property are stoned and pose a health risk as some of us lost grip on a few occasions. Watch out for low ceilings too in some places! On the whole it was a lovely stay however feedback to the hostproperty owners would be to be more accessible and follow up when checking in just to make sure guests have what they need. The house is lovely and the additional touch of service going above and beyond would be icing on the cake.
BBQ and oven had to be deep cleaned before we could use them. Hot tub took 2 days to cool down enough before we could use it, then it rained so couldn't use it because it had no pergola or any type of roof over it. This was really disappointing because the hot tub was what made us choose this property over others. The cottage was in a great location and other facilities were good. We enjoyed our stay but still feel like i could of got somewhere alot cheeper that didn't have a hot tub because we only used it once due to the above
The cottage is lovely and we really enjoyed the private outside space and hot tub. If the wi fi could be improved that would be good especially for teenage guests. There could be better instructions for the heating we couldnt find any but we did use the log burner instead, we also donated a bbq as the fire pitbbq one would be quite difficult to use as it was so low. Overall none of this would have prevented us from booking so are just options to make it even nicer. Would recommend regardless as the area and Cornwall is just great to visit.
Stephen
This is a delightful old cottage in a very quiet location. Very well furnished and equipped. We went with our two small dogs and had a lovely time.
Tiffany
Lovely cottage, really pretty set in a lovely location. Cottage was extremely comfortable, really enjoyed putting the fire on and the hot tub was a great addition. Kitchen was a good size for the 5 of us, with plenty of workspace to prepare dinners and a great size dining table. Utility room was really handy for hanging wet coats, drying dog towels, it also had an overspill fridge which was great to store all our drinks. Great location, the Millers Arms in Mithian did a great Sunday roast booking essential. The nearby Cyder farm was a great afternoon out and thoroughly enjoyed sampling the various cyder.
Beautiful property and surroundings. Nice and peaceful. Will absolutely be booking again. Only negative is the road into the property. As my car is low, coming in and out caused damage to the underneath.
We had a wonderful stay at Five Elements Cottage for a family Christmas, the extra touches with a Christmas Tree and few decorations were great. The location of this cottage is perfect, very easy access to all main routes, and also close enough to reach wonderful coastal walks and villages, St Agnes was lovely and visited a few times plus if in need of more amenities not far to Truro. There were 7 of us adultsteenagers which worked well with the sleeping arrangements, a little snug in the lounge though but we managed. The Hot Tub was an excellent addition and one of the reasons we chose to stay here, and can imagine this lovely private spot to be great in the summer too. It does have steps down to the cottage and lots of steps inside too, so to be aware of this with much younger children or elderly relatives. Sari the owner was excellent with all requests, very friendly and quick to sort anything out if needed. The WIFI was a bit intermittent which was mentioned on previous reviews. The week we had here was excellent and exactly what we were looking for and would definitely return again to this cottage and the area.
We stayed in December it was beautiful, everything you want and need. Was so relaxing, we just didnt want to leave. We would love to come back and stay again.

Beautiful property, gorgeous setting, super well equipped. Genuine home from home. It's wonderful!
Lindsey
The cottage was lovely very clean and all you the kitchen was very well equiped, beds really comfy. Its in a perfect location to visit all areas of Cornwall. However there were a lot of steps inside the property and low celings we had an elderly person with us with poor eyesight and a couple of tall men that kept catching their heads. The steps down to the property were no problem until it rained then they became very slippy. We did have a lovely holiday but these are a few snags we found.
Location was quiet and peaceful away from the crowded beaches. The cottage was very well equipped with hot tub and BBQ and plenty of outside chairs. The weather was very hot but the cottage was cool especially the lounge. We all slept well. Special thanks to Sari for ringing after we left to say that we had left 2 bags behind. We were able to return to collect them. A great holiday enjoyed by all.
Nice cottage with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Cosy living area and a large dining table for family meals. Nice patio area with plenty of seating and we enjoyed the hot tub. The property is part of a complex of a few other properties but still felt very private. All spotlessly clean. Pretty much everything we needed in kitchen although a couple of smaller saucepans would be nice and there were loads of champagne flutes and not many wine glasses which seemed odd. Two fridges and a freezer which was great. Great location, close to st Agnes which had the most beautiful beach. All in all a pleasant stay with just a few minor niggles As per another review we did struggle a little as we have a 16 month old and the floors are quite up and down so we spent a lot of time chasing her to stop her falling down steps. Would be helpful if listing mentioned this, pretty much every room has a step or two into it. A stair gate to go between lounge and hallway would be useful so we could have caged her in! The beds and pillows were feeling a little tired and weren't particularly comfortable, although they did have good quality bedding. The upstairs bathroom shower area would benefit from a refresh, some tiles looked a bit rusty or something. Would benefit from a tumble drier or at least another clothes airer or washing line as difficult to dry a whole load. All minor things really which didn't detract from an enjoyable stay
We were disappointed the cottage details did not mention the amount of steps inside the cottage and that it was on different levels. We had an 18 months old baby in our party and it was difficult. We also were concerned to find that there were no food recycling bins and the only recycling available was for glass and cardboard surely in these climate conscious times this should be provided not all going to landfill. Perhaps the owners could rethink this point. The property was very well equipped and very clean.
Lovely cottage in a very quiet location. Shops and pub within reasonable distance. Very comfortable overall the only down side for us was the wifi. The wifi was very poor and we were seldom able to access it during the day. In the evening it would reappear about 2030 but was quite slow.
The quiet location and wonderful hot tub which we used each evening. The spacious enclosed garden perfect for our dog . The gorgeous features of the cottage.
We received excellent service from Sykes Cottages and the accommodation was not only beautiful but of the highest quality. What are you waiting for ..........?
Denise
Beautiful house and a quite spot with view over field with Jersey cows. Enjoyed the hot tub and evening around the fire pit. Kitchen fully stocked to enable some great cooking and family fun. We wanted to eat out a few times great local taxi company to get you the few miles into St Agnes.
This cottage was superb. Fixtures and equipment all top rate. Five adults and two children had a fabulous time. Can highly recommend Five Elements Cottage. Only missing item was the bikesurfboard storage room advertised, but that may have been available at one of the other properties had we asked. Didnt need it, so didnt enquire. Will undoubtedly visit again.
Even during these difficult times everything was perfect. The cottage is wonderful and the support and the range of activities we were offered were fantastic. I highly recommend a break away to the five elements.
Owner of property fantastic host, easy to contact and any issues doubt with straight away. Property is fantastic and extremely comfortable. Was a pleasure to stay there. My friends and I already discussing when to return. Great weekend.
Five Elements Cottage is a lovely holiday home. The rooms are large enough to accommodate all of the people that could stay there but small enough to feel cosy. The beds are very comfortable as are the sofas. The property is well equipped, the separate utility room was very welcome, as it meant we could enter through a rear door and dry our dogs properly before entering the main house. The jacuzzi bath downstairs was a delight and the hot tub outside was fab, especially when it rained! The location is idyllic, very quiet and even though you are near other properties, you don't feel overlooked at all. The grounds available to walk in are very pretty and enclosed. Our bulldogs loved the stream. The only niggle we had was that there was no salt and pepper or oil left for the use of guests. This has been available at other cottages we have stayed at but if we had known in advance, we would have brought them with us.
