Valley Lodge 31 Reviews

Lodge was lovely when arrived, smelt a little musty downstairs in the bedrooms, 2 towels on our bed, which we thought we would have more replaced through the week, this is not the case so 1 towel per person a week is not really sufficient and this needs changing, we contacted the housekeeping which after a reply 8 hours later, was told we had to pay 2 per towel extra, after a conversation about 1 towel per week being not very hygienic and not stated in the advert to bring our own towels as they are provided, the man on the phone said he would bring 2 more for free for us. Lodge is well equipped for everything, could do with a better frying pan as it was horrendous, hottub fine apart from one of the jet housing cover is loose and cut me as it was sharp, the area around the tub could do with some cleaning and improvement as a little scruffy, also the guttering is overflowing in to the downstairs hottub area so youre not able to sit out in the rain there. Also take your own loo roll as only 1 is left in each bathroom, But all in all a nice stay.
Loved this place so much exceeded expections. Nearby to so many things. Children loved facilities.
The lodge is well equipped and comfortable. We had a lovely stay despite the lack of summer. The on site facilities are very good and the staff very helpful. The outdoor pool is small but warm. The onsite pub is also very good and good value. The site is lovely and quiet with streams running through it. A BBQ is visible in one of the photos but it doesn't have one not listed under amenities. We recommend this lodge and will return in the future.
The lodge was great in many ways. Great location, quiet, great size. The issues we had though was the outside table wasn't clean, there was a very strong musty smell in the lodge that was very overpowering to begin with. Was sorted with a couple tins of air freshener. The shower head in the bathroom was broken and we weren't very comfortable using the hot tub as it was situated right at the main road and anyone passing could see you as it wasn't very private. But otherwise we had a great stay and enjoyed our time away
We loved the stay here, the only issues that we had was that it was not totally secure so the dogs could get out if we were in the hot tub, and there was very little privacy also when in the hot tub. Both these issues could easily be dealt with by means of a small gate allowing the staff members to check on the hot tub when needed but allow the dogs to come out when we ourselves are in the tub.and by fixing up some rattern fencing. The onsite pub was lovely as were the meals. We would certainly be happy to return and stay here again.

We requested zip link to be joined this didnt happen Found dog Pooh on the veranda and a dog chew under the stool in the lounge Carpet smelt of dog Bubble pool only one jet working properly Nice stay the villa was a little tired

The property was exactly as described on the website, comfortable bedrooms, good hot tub, very nice living room on the first floor, with a lovely balcony containing table and chairs. Kitchen was useable, units and fridge a little outdated and lacked sufficient utensils, but we got by ok. The site itself was excellent, good bar which does a nice food selection, friendly staff, great games room and lovely swimming pools. We would definitely go again.
Malcolm
The property is advertised as dog friendly however there is no secure area where the dog can sit outside. The hot tub is old and many features do not work, and the information provided tells you not to press anything other than massage and lights should be light. the cover is old, tired and falling apart in places. Generally the bedrooms are comfortable, having a tv in one of them was a bonus for out granddaughter. Upstairs was ok with plenty of seating, and a good kitchen, could do with a smaller frying pan though. The fake grass on the balcony and the hot tub area id not a nice thing to walk on it remained wet the whole time we were there. We didn't let the dog on the balcony as it would have cleared the railing easily. the heating did fail as we were using the towel rails to dry our towels, after repeated phone calls and visiting the site office someone did call us and they managed to reset it. The 2 pools on site, outdoor one tiny indoor one not very big and you do have to book a time slot no mention of that on the website. we were lucky as the owner did subscribe to the pools however others were not so lucky, this should be mentioned as well on the website
Valley Lodge 31 was a great size and the bedrooms and living space were excellent. The hot tub was disappointing we were a retired group of people and the cover was really difficult to open a close due to arm that folds the cover back was broken at its hinge. That made it difficult to open but extremely difficult to close as you can only lift from one side. Also the hot tub area was not very clean with leaves and debris. I only mention this as having the hot tub was one of the reasons for booking this lodge. Aside from the above we had a wonderful holiday with great days out.
Claire
Accommodation was lovely. When I got there it wasn't a 'lodge' as such. More a purpose built chalet bungalow. But lovely. The kitchen was really well equipt. Everything you could need. I booked this lodge as it had an on Site Restaurant, so I wouldn't have to cook on my Holiday. When we got there, the restaurant was shut for 2 weeks.
Great place to stay nice cosy accommodation ideal for get always. The lodge is on a beautiful site and team are really helpful. Would highly recommend
Caroline
We have just returned from the most relaxing, chilled holiday ever. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and extremely well furnished. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. We will definitely return.
Michael
Lovely place that is ideally located to visit attractions. Friendly staff in the facilities who are happy to help.
Claire
This was a first holiday with my partner and our 4 teenagers. We cannot fault the lodge as it was fully equipped with everything we needed. We used the cooking facilities for meals and also ordered takeaway. The pizza house was the only one that delivered but had takeaways close enough to drive too in callington. The restaurant on site also cooked lovely meals. I know previous reviews said no internet but can see the property did and the kids were happy as when we were chilling they glued to their gadgets. The hot tub was a lovely bonus to the property to relax in the evening while listening to the little brook next to the property. The reception and bar staff were really helpful with any questions we had. The shop is only open certain hours bur their is a coop 2 mins drive to get any essentials you need. To access the gym and swimming pools you have to book your sessions online. They are free to use but I would recommend booking the outdoor pool in advance as its limited spaces and gets booked up quickly. Everyone loved the holiday and hope to come back again soon
William
Could do with some tlc but generally very good
Katrina
Comfortable with nice view. South facing balcony is a suntrap!
Just perfect.
Louise
The property was fine however when we booked the cottage we chose to spend well over a 100 more to have a hot tub. Upon usage of the hot tub we noticed a brown grime all around the edges and on the filter and once turned on you could see brown grimey bubbles all over the top. We used the phone number provided on the email confirmation and got through to Kevin, the maintenance person for the hot tub and he told us that the reason for the brown grimey filth in the water is due to the fact that the hot tub is filled with water from a bore hole and not from water from South West water. So we couldn't use the hot tub once as it was filthy and disgusting. What a strange thing not to fill it with proper water! If we had known this we would NEVER have booked this cottage. To be totally honest we would like our money back for the difference between a cottage with a hot tub and one without as we could not use this hot tub. With the exception of the hot tub the cottage was okay. It was quite dirty on the outside, balconies not swept and windows thick with green grime. Things that are quite easy to rectify. We have numerous photos to back up what we are saying and we were so annoyed we left early. Please let us know where to send the photos and we look very forward to hearing your response!!
We were a group of 4 senior, but youthful. The accommodation was very clean and the beds extremely comfortable, an added bonus was the hot tub which was well placed for privacy. The food available at the restaurant was ample, hot and delivered with friendly service. The only downside was that there were bulbs missing from some of the lights downstairs. This is our 2nd time with Sykes holidays and wed book again.
Everything was good but no Internet connection and no WiFi in home it's should have WiFi
The accommodation was clean and ell equipped. The beds were very comfortable. In the past we have been left instructions for heating, recycling etc but there were none this time. It would have been useful to have these when we arrived as the villa was cold and the thermostat is not easy to locate.
Amazing holiday for last days of 2021. Very clean, warm and fantastic hot tub which we enjoyed our stays. Hope we could book it for next holidays.
Oksana
It was a lovely stay with all You need for a big family. The cottage was clean and comfortable, hot tub was ready to use for all 5 days we stayed. The cottage was very cold when we came on first day, but my husband found how to switch the heating on and we got cosy. Swimming pool, gym, restaurant all were open despite of the time of the year which was a pleasure. Would definitely recommend this accommodation as the price was affordable too.
Rachel
The lodge was lovely. Clean and generally very well equipped. Only a couple of grumbles, as a group of girls together there were not enough sockets in the bedroom. Each room had just one double socket at one end of the room and the mirror the other end
Rooms were decent in regards to bed comfort, wardrobedrawer space. Kitchen well equipped. The hot tub was amazing! Property a good size for my family of 5. I was shocked to pay 1600 for 7 nights to find theres no WiFi. Mostly given receptionservice in Cornwall is pretty much none existent this was quite surprising. It would have been a nice gesture to provide a weeks worth of bin bags, hand soap, toilet roll and dish washer tablets in my opinion given the price we paid but you can buy all these at the Tesco approx 10 minute drive away. The speed bumps on site are not kind if you dont drive a 4x4 so be warned of the scraping on your exhaust even at 1mph.
A lovely quiet site but also plenty for two small boys to do. The staff there were amazingly helpful and friendly. Beautifully clean accommodation and park.
Had a amazing time . Hot tub was great kids loved it . Baby said she wanted to keep the holiday home lol . 14 and 16 year old loved the 2 swimmpools. Only down side there was no entertainment on site but the was due to covid not the site . Site shop was surprisingly cheap
Own transport is needed.
The park was lovely, tennis court, swimming pool, and play areas kept the kids entertained. Food was lovely and friendly service. Bed could have been softer but loved the extra of a hot tub at the lodge. A very pretty place to stay and a fab holiday had by all.
Anthony
Really lovely clean lodge with the added bonus of the hottub . Two nice balcony areas to sit out on and was perfect for our dog . Nice pub restaurant on site too , good location to visit all main resorts all Around an hours drive away . Nothing much around without driving though .
Lodge was very clean and well stocked in kitchen etc only small feedback would be having WiFi this would have been helpful to be able to check weather and plan day trips etc Other than that we had a lovely holiday. Staff on reception and pub were lovely, helpful and very welcoming.
No apart from no wifi I would give this property 1010 otherwise. Clean, friendly staff, hot tub and number of beds for the price is brilliant.
I was upset to have to sleep on a broken bed which caused me to have severe back pain. The care taker looking after this property was very helpful and professional. I would like to say thank you to Him. Mrs N Haddock
We were not allowed into the pub and restaurant on site because we were Welsh. Yet no temperatures being taken as people entered which happened in Wales when the pubs were open.
Douglas
Having travelled from Suffolk we arrived in the dark after a long journey. We could not find number 31 & found a lot of the lodges had no numbers at all. Had to ask the man in the pub if he could help us which he kindly did. It would have been a great help if the lodges were numbered. Apart from that everything else was as expected. Thank you.
Richard
We had a great time with my son and his wife and grandson. Beautiful place and the hot tub was our first experience and we loved every minute
Lovely place, very chilled site with friendly staff in both reception and the pub. Great food and service in the pub as well. The lodge itself is clean comfy and well equipped. We learned from a previous review that the furniture on the balcony was broken so we took a couple of chairs of our own and it worked out fine. The hot tub was simply the best and great to use in all weathers. Would definitely come back again. Only downside was that there is no WiFi at lodges 30 32 although Wifi is advertised in the listing so this should be removed. We had a family crisis occur at home while we were away and had to go and ask someone else on site of we could use their WiFi which was not ideal, but we managed. Given how dependent many people are on WiFi, I think Sykes need to be clear about this to avoid customer disappointment and complaints.
Catherine
Only point, broken outdoor furniture was still in the property on arrival ! Should have been removed even if not replaced, was totally un useable ......... such a shame....... other than that was a lovely place, site, venue and surroundings. Would happily rebook. But will ask if Any outdoor Furniture is useable and not broken in the future!
