The Briars Reviews

Howard
Beautiful small flat in a lovely if remote village. Definitely need a car. Owner very helpful. Can thoroughly recommend for a short stay away from it all. Would be helpful if there were a few more pots.
Ideally situated for local walks, it looked great on Sykess website. The owners are very communicative in providing local info and instructions on how things operate within the accommodation. But we arrived around 6pm and the hot tub was. chilly. Texted the owners who said theyd refilled the tub at 3pm that day and it would take another 24 hours to heat to the required temperature but this is a BIG fail when a cottage has been chosen specifically for the hot tub. On another day, the gardeners arrived, thats fine, but they pulled the rear gate so tightly closed that we were unable to open it from our side. Faced with having to stay at home all day or climb the headheight fence we are in our 60s, we eventually trespassed our way out through the owners adjoining property as we were unable to reach the owners immediately by phone. More generally, there is minimal storage space for groceries in kitchen cupboards, no washing machine although a tatty clothes airer was provided, lounge area is dark and gloomy with untidy electrical wires hanging down the wall, the ensuite bathroom window is a sealed unit and theres very little space to place bathroom products, the bedroom window blinds are covered in mould spots at the bottom, the conservatory window doesnt close security risk and bossy notes are placed around the property. We wouldnt return.
Frances
Very clean, with everything you could need for a perfect holiday. Very quiet area with lots of walks and amazing beaches. After a day away we could end it with a relaxing dip in the hottub.
Jeason
Our stay in August was perfect. Accommodation had everything required, super comfy and was spotlessly clean. Perfect spot for a quick wander down to the beach and pub. Lovely owners. Would definitely recommend.
Brenda
Great location, super accommodation and spotlessly clean. Amazing hot tub and the garden was a total sun trap with the sun loungers a lovely bonus. We would definitely recommend and will be back very soon!
Roderick
Not good . Yery good a lovely clean property just ten minutes from the beach and pub what more could you ask for Thanks for a nice stay
Enjoyed our stay at the property and all the facilities we needed were catered for with good parking. The accommodation was spacious, clean, comfortable and ideally sited for local beach and walks. Would gladly visit again.
Alison
Very clean and tidy on arrival, everything you need, excellent location, perfect for walks to the beach and local pub at Wisemans Bridge. Very helpful advice about local area too. Bus will collect and depart at the bottom of the drive to go to either Tenby or Pendine. Weather was perfect, hot tub amazing after long walks every day.
Fantastic apartment in a really good location, owners very welcoming and attentive, lovely hot tub with great views,a lovely little sun trap.
The Briars was a great place to stay in a really perfect location. Uncomplicated and streamlined to what visitors really require, with pristine and modern amenities. A perfect stop for 2 who like to explore during the days and come back to base for an unwind in the hot tub and with every film and TV streaming service available! The owners have great knowledge of the area and a friendly, helpful manner and are on hand for whatever you might need!
Stewart
Lovely stay. A pretty, short walk to the coast and to a good pub that served food.
Joanne
The property was spotless, the cleansed we have ever stayed in. The welcome gift of wine, Wales cakes and a pint of milk was a lovely gesture. We didn't use the hot tub but the idea of bath robes was a brilliant. We would definitely recommend this property. The area is beautiful and there is plenty to see.
Lovely spot, lovely people. Many thanks for a great stay.
Jacqueline
Very clean and comfortable. Fab hot tub and super location. Would recommend.
Andrew
Our second time and it was just as good. Although it's attached to the property it's really private and everything just works well and the hot tub is superb. It's really well located, super quiet yet within 10 mins walk of the beach at Wisemans beach and then another 15 min walk into Saundersfoot. Great area for walking and beaches. Some lovely restaurants in Saundersfoot and beyond. It was a great week.
Excellent week at The Briars. The accommodation and outside areas were superb. The location is ideal with a short stroll to the beach. Overall highly recommended.
Great stay very clean everything you need for a week's holiday. Welcome pack was a nice touch. The hot tub was great the sky TV with the sports was a great 10 minute walk to the beach and pub nice food was just right so you did not want to take the car.
Claire
We had a lovely stay at the Briars! The accommodation was perfect and a brilliant base to explore the lovely surrounding area. The hot tub was fab and just what was needed after a days walking and the little welcome hamper was a lovely touch! Thanks again for a wonderful stay
The holiday cottage was beautifully clean the bed was comfortable the shower good as well in fact all the facilities were in very good order, loved sitting at the back of the garden listening to the birds so peaceful no traffic noise at all. We couldn't use the hot tub do to health issues we both have so didn't think it would be wise. Loved the area, will be back to visit the area again Alan and Tricia Woolford
Had a great holiday at The Briars. Property was well equipped and we had a comfortable stay,TV channels and hot tub added to our experience. Would definitely stay at the property again Welcome pack was greatly appreciated
Elizabeth
The property was beautifully clean, and well equipped. The conservatory was a lovely room, with a lovely view of the garden. The garden was lovely to sit in with different levels and areas. The hot tub was a delightful extra too. Many thanks for the wine, Welsh cakes, and milk. A lovely welcome . This was our first visit to Pembrokeshire and we certainly enjoyed it.
Andrew
This is a superb holiday let. We couldn't fault it. Great communication, immaculately presented with lovely welcome touches, wine, milk, welshcakes......very nice! And of course, a hot tub! Can't praise the care of this place highly enough.
Need to make sure on arrival of guests the place is pre heated on arrival home was very cold and took ages to warm through the place due to the electric smart heaters , which one in the conservatory does not seem to deliver its set temperature . The frying pan needs to be replaced as this is not fit for purpose . and some blinds in the conservatory to make it a bit more private .
Has simple has this great place to stay
Jonathan
Had a wonderful few days with my partner and will be returning soon
Stephanie
Thanks for a wonderful stay at your property. The welcome basket on our arrival was lovely, and the property was just as expected cosy, clean and comfortable. Additionally the hot tub was gorgeous after a day exploring the countryside.
Andy and Julie had lots of advice where to eat places to visit walks etc. We had a lovely stay at The Briars
We had a lovely break at The Briars. The location was quiet, peaceful and relaxing. We didn't hear a peep from neighbours, traffic, workers etc for the whole week including the weekend, except for the Asda supermarket delivery driver and if we'd known he delivered locally we would have ordered a few forgotten items ourselves! We visited in November so weather was chilly but the electric radiators were brillant, even in the extension. The interior pictures in the listing are great and show how well maintained and finished the whole appartment is. Everything was spotless. There was a lovely little welcome package waiting for us when we arrived and good instructions on heating, hot tub and other essential info. The TV package was a great boon, we got to view some evening movies curled up on the comfy sofa. The full size fridge freezer was a master stroke too. No worries about wasting our holiday time to shop every couple of days. We just bought it all for the freezer before arriving, didn't need to go out again. Its worth noting that the image of the frontage is mainly the owners property. The annexe is accessed via the side gate and comprises of the ground floor of the brick portion of the house with bedroom window visible on the left, the large glass extension attached behind, and the open plan kitchenliving room sandwiched between. The underfloor heating mentioned seems to extend to the bathroom only, wish I'd taken my slippers! The lower garden and tub are perfectly private with tall panel fencing. The hot tub was enormous and delicious to soak in after a cold walk on the seafront. Again I found it a bit difficult to tell from the picture but the tub is just outside the glass extension, you just walk around the outside of the extension to get to it. You will need footwear, or a very big leap to cross the meter or so of gravel between the path and the tub deck. We enjoyed lounging there watching the very active bird life and fearless squirrels dancing around the trees only feet away from us. The stone steps behind the tub lead up a slope to a little secret strip of grass at the top of the garden, home to a picnic table at the left end, and two loungers at the right end. The fence at the top backs onto open fields giving a nice outlook at the grazing horses. This along with the excellent planting of shrubs and trees on the slope below, gives complete privacy. The footpath to the beach was easy to find, just a short distance down the lane and it took us just 10min to walk there each day, winding through a small holiday park. We stopped at the pub next to the beach for a hot chocolate to warm up and some friendly chatter, then a further 20min walk along the promenade above the beach straight into Stepaside, a busy little town with plenty of places to eat, drink, shop for nick nacks, or pick up groceries at the tesco express or spar. On the beach front they also had a cafe, immaculate public toilets, beach sport facility and shop. Would definitely stay again.
Kimberly
Excellent location, nice annex, clean and had everything you needed. Hot tub was excellent after a day out. Very difficult to locate in the dark as no street lights whatsoever, luckily the owner came out to assist.
Anthony
When we arrived a very warm welcome, very clean place, nice peaceful, we enjoyed ... When we arrived a very warm welcome, very clean place, nice peaceful, we enjoyed the walks, we also licked the outdoor area, garden great and we loved the jacuzzi, there was information left about the place and the surrounding areas which was very helpful the area was very beautiful and I like too thank the owner for the wine,Welsh cake the tea, coffee, sugar and milk Thanks Mr A Rohman
This is the epitome of relaxation and tranquility. The Briars is located in a very quiet and lovely secluded valley which has easy access to either a coastal road or a main highway. Ten minute walk to Wiseman's bridge Inn and beach. If you prefer to walk into Saundersfoot it's approximately forty minutes easy walk on the flat coast path. The property is top quality with access to a lovely garden and hot tub.
Gillian
We had a very enjoyable stay at The Briars. Julie the owner of the property was very helpful and informative as it was the first time we had visited the area. The apartment was very comfortable and well equipped and the hot tub a bonus, with a welcome pack to greet us. We would definitely like to visit again. Gill from Coventry
Christopher
Excellent accommodation. Everything as it should be. Particularly appreciated the TV package. Sky, Netflix and Amazon prime.
Catherine
The annex was just perfect with the added relaxation of the hot tub in a very private and beautiful garden. We were pleasantly surprised that the accommodation had been decorated for a special birthday and we cant thank the owners enough for making our stay very memorable. We would definitely recommend this property and would love to return in the future.
Andrew
The property is located in a beautiful area, called Pleasant Valley for a reason. The property is perfect for 2 and it's really private even though it's attached to the owners property. The accommodation is very high quality, everything works well and there are great things like full sky package, glorious hot tub, comfortable furniture, including the bed. Lovely walk into Wisemans bridge and over to Saundersfoot via the 3 tunnels, or via the beaches when the tides out. Great places to visit in the car, Stackpole was the best for us, the beach at Barafundle is special get there early and you'll feel like you have your own VIP beach. Tenby also very nice which is 15 mins drive.
Kimberley
Such a comfortable stay at The Briars. It is perfectly situated for walks to Wisemans Bridge, Amroth and Saundersfoot. The photographs dont do the beautiful garden justice it is absolutely stunning. The house conversation has been done in a really considerate way so you feel as though the property is completely separate. Facilities are brilliant and we appreciated the welcoming gifts and information. We will definitely return.
The photos do justice to the accommodation, but they are misleading as to which part of the property you actually stay in. The gravel path leading to your entrance at the back of the house is awkward to traverse with heavy luggage or if you are unsteady on your feet. Somewhere to place your toiletries in the shower would be useful. The WiFi is excellent, but the mobile phone signal is nonexistent. We had to cut our stay short due to contracting Covid not the fault of the property in any way so we had little chance to explore the surrounding area. Thanks to the owners for our welcome pack, which was much appreciated.
Graham
Very comfortable, very clean accommodation in a lovely location. Full Sky TV package too!!
The property was wonderful, everything we needed was provided and it was extremely clean. There were also some added touches of coffee, tea, snacks, wine and milk, which were greatly appreciated! The location was good too, within a short walk of the beach and the lovely Wisemans Inn, and within a longer walking distance of Amroth and Saundersfoot. Would highly recommend!
