About Manor Farm Lodges - Red Kite Lodge

Nestled among rolling, green countryside with sheep grazing close by and lambs in the springtime, Red Kite Lodge rests peacefully on the outskirts of Bettws Cedewain. This is the ideal escape to the country for families and friends looking to tour a lovely part of Wales, a stone's throw from the English border with the Shropshire towns and villages within easy reach.

Entrance is gained through the utility area, where you have space to kick off your shoes and hang up your coats, while the handy washer, tucked under a unit, comes in useful after a long, muddy walk through verdant countryside. Spend quality time with your loved ones in the open-plan living room and unwind into your evening by the woodburner, which keeps you toasty and warm during the winter season.

You can rustle up a family feast in the kitchen and get together around the dining table before reclining in front of the TV as the evening draws in. Throw open the patio doors to the decking on a summer's day and absorb that peaceful, countryside atmosphere as a cool breeze fills the indoor space.

With part of the enclosed decking having a glass balustrade, you can admire the countryside views right from the sitting area - the owners really have thought of everything! The king-size double offers a lovely, country feel with lots of attention to detail, bedside tables and lamps as well as a wall-mounted TV.

You have Jack-and-Jill access to the family shower room, which also acts as an en-suite to the twin bedroom. This has zip/link beds, which can be made up into a super king-size double for couples, or left as a twin for those traveling with children or friends.

Sit out on the decking one balmy afternoon and enjoy a refreshing beverage as you drink in the luscious, green scenery surrounding you with views towards the lakes in the distance. Alternatively, dip in the hot tub and ooze in a spot of luxury as a fine summer's evening draws out and you can make the most of this serene setting.

Manor Farm Lodges - Red Kite Lodge Reviews

Michael
Lovely cabin views are wonderful the alpacas goats and chickens love you feeding them biscuits
We have just got from a great week from here. we stayed in the red kite lodge.x We arrived to a lovely homemade chocolate cake. Julie popped into us on the first night to make sure all was ok and to let us know if we needed anything she and kev were available to help. The lodge had everything you can think of to make it like home. Bread, milk ,tea and coffee was also left for us. kids had a great time looking for Katie the red kite which had a chocolate for them as a prize.x The animals added to the lodge as the kids had a great time waking up to them and feeding them carrots daily. Kev took the kids around the farm on his quad and explained to the kids about everything. He did this more than once. They provide a book which gives you all details on places to visit. , also places to eat. We were there for our 15th wedding anniversary ,so we tried dinner at the local which is about a 10 minute walk and we was not disappointed. We enjoyed it so much we already booked to go back before we had even left. Thank you for making our week a great memory. See you next year.x

We loved every minute we stayed there. Kev, Julie and the kids Josh & Gem were brilliant from the first interactions with us. The site is so pieceful, with lovely views!! Animals to you door each morning

Red kite lodge is a great place to stay, if you want to get away from it all but still have lots of places to visit if you want to. We had a lovely relaxing week. The owners are friendly and helpfull but unobtrusive. They put a lot of effort into making this a great place to stay. Thanks Kev and Julie,we hope to visit again Andrew and Shirley

Absolutely lovely lodge in a beautiful location. Great hosts, very friendly and lots of extra little touches. Loved having the animals come over to visit and the hot tub was great. We highly recommend Manor Farm Lodges and hope to visit again soon.
Beautiful and tranquil! Red Kite lodge is a real gem in the heart of MidWales. The lodge is beautifully kept and equipped, set in a beautiful location where you can relax, unwind, enjoy the view of the neighbouring hills and regular visits from the farm animals. Every morning, my wife and I were greeted by alpacas, goats, sheep and chicken trying to enamour us into giving them a treat. Suffice to say they were successful most of the time. The hot tub and log burner are real highlights. This will not be our last stay at Manor Farm Lodges!
Myself and my husband stayed in red kite lodge for a mini break and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Upon arrival we were a little confused at first as sykes cottages had provided us with a key code but no other instructions, so we did spend a good few minutes looking around outside for a place where keys might be stored, until I tried the door and found it was open anyway. When we got inside it was evident it was going to be a lovely stay as the lodge was immaculately clean. We had brought a few things that we may have needed but there was no need as many things were provided for us including tea, coffee, sugar, hand wash, washing up liquid, shampoo, body wash and towels, and a well stocked cupboard of various pots and pans, cutlery, bowls, different size plates you name it, it was there. You could tell a lot of effort had gone into making the lodge as homely as possible and the bread, milk and cake was a nice welcome too. We met Julie on our first night and Kev on our last night as they come around each day to check the hot tub, they were both very friendly and welcoming, and both let us know they were available if we needed anything which was nice. The hot tub was definitely one of our highlights, it was all set up ready to go and was the perfect temperature and because it is undercover we could use it even though the weather wasn't great. The animals are quite literally on your door step, and come upto the lodge every morning at many other times throughout the day bellowing at you to feed them haha! You only had to walk outside and they all come running which was funny to see but so adorable, those goats and alpacas sure can eat! And they wasn't the only animals, they have wooly sheep but they mostly kept to themselves, was nice to watch them though. We also had a random cat come to the lodge, absolutely gorgeous but took a serious liking to us and kept trying to come inside for hours on end, it soon gave up when we went to bed. Sadly the only downside was the WiFi was very hit and miss, it was fine for casually scrolling on our phones but we were unable to make full use of the streaming services due to buffering issues, but that was literally the only negative of the place and wasn't that big a deal to us really, just a point to note. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful break. My only wish is that we could have stayed longer, but next time we hope to stay at least a week and in springsummer time so we can enjoy the surrounding areas a bit more.
Michael
I simply can't recommend this proprety highly enough, nothing is too much trouble for the owners Kev & Julie who are on hand if required but equally distanced if you prefer privacy. The facilities were excellent in every respect and I can confidently say we wanted for nothing. The resident animals are awesome, each having their own presonality and coming to visit every day. The local villiage and it's residents and warm and welcoming and we felt like part of their community. The Bull & Heifer get's a special mention for the quality of it's food which was outstanding. I could go on & on but simply put the best compliment I could pay would be to simply say We will be back! !!!
Amazing place , quiet and calm and relaxing . Beautiful views whilst sitting in the hot tub watching the horses , sheep , goats and alpacas, even more amazing to wake up and find them waiting to be fed , bring a hood supply of biscuits . So much to do in the area . The bull and heifer pub serves the most amazing food and the staff are so friendly . Id highly recommend this place and the owners are such lovely people . I cant wait to come back
Malcolm
One of the best lodges that we have stayed in. Very well equipped, in a lovely location. The alpacas were very entertaining.
Lesley
Lovely clean lodge in a beautiful part of Wales. It catered for all our needs with lots of little extras. We would recommend this lodge to anyone that wants time away from the bury lives we live these days. Julie and Kev were the perfect hosts.

I honestly cant rate Manor Farm Lodges and the Red Kite Lodge highly enough. I absolutely loved every second there. The lodge is clean, tidy, well equipment with absolutely everything you could need and we were welcomed with a beautiful lemon cake, break and milk so we could have a cuppa and cake the minute we arrived. The views are spectacular! Even in the rain, because of the under covered area, we could still sit outside and enjoy it all or chill out in the well maintained hot tub. The goats, alpacas, sheep and chickens came over for food every day. Provided by Julie & Kev, our hosts who we couldnt have asked for better. Friendly, helpful and quick to respond when we had a question. We had a couple of trips down the hill to the pub, The Bull & Heifer, which had one of the nicest Sunday Roasts Ive had in a long time. Booking essential. As animals lovers I personally couldnt have asked for a more perfect place to stay and I will 100 be booking to go back again. There are loads of things to do within around an hours drive and despite the weather being a bit rubbish we had an awesome week and that was all down to the location and set up of the lodges. You have so much privacy and it has to be one of the most tranquil places Ive been. Thank you again to Julie and Kev, you have thought it all out perfectly. It is a very special place you have there.
Red Kite lodge was spacious, very clean, well equipped an ideal place for a relaxing carefree break. We really enjoyed our stay.
Michael
Just exquisite we liked everything about this place from the great welcome, the cake, bread and milk, to the animals on the farm. Loved the log burner and excellent gas fired heating system. Superb location to visit Powis Castle a must, ace walks in the grounds of Gregynog Hall. Local pub was a hit especially the Sunday lunch but you need to book well before visiting as it is really popular.
We absolutely loved the week we stayed. It was perfect for what we wanted, a week of no stress and just relax and this was the perfect place for it! We arrived to a nice clean place, and a nice chocolate cake milk and bread was a lovely surprise. We loved the hot tub and the fire was on every day it was so nice and cosy especially with the cold weather in January. I definitely would go back.
We have stayed in lots of lodges but this has to be the best. The owners Kev & Julie have really thought of everything you need to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing. Everything is so clean and the views are amazing. Thank you so much for a relaxing time Kev & Julie and hope to see you soon.
We cannot recommend Red Kite Lodge High enough. Kev and Julie, the owners, went out of their way to make our stay wonderful from the very first night. When we arrived the fire was roaring, the left us a wonderful chocolate cake and milk in the fridge. The cabin was fully stocked with everything you could think of to make your self catering week easy and pleasant. My family and I enjoyed feeding the alpacas ever morning and using the hot tub every evening. We fully intend to book here again as we enjoyed our stay so much.
Fabulous cabin, myself and my family had a wonderful time at the lodge. It was perfect woth. Animals on our doorstep, the lodge has everything you could possibly need for a break away. The owners are extremely helpful and we were left a fresh baked chocolate cake! Amazing! We will definitely be returning x
Belinda
Absolutely amazing all round
Lovely welcome from Julie and her renowned chocolate cake! Beautiful lodge with all comforts. Bonus to have a hot tub on the decking. In a quiet country area but close to Newtown and Powis Castle at Welshpool. Excellent eating places close by. A wonderful relaxing break.
Gillian
Wow! What a fantastic week we have had! Julie and Kev are the perfect hosts and have gone above and beyond to make our holiday extra special, including a delicious chocolate cake, bread and milk, on arrival. Red Kite Lodge is so comfortable, a real home from home. It has everything you could need and has been beautifully designed. We have loved feeding Ed, Bob and Tom the alpacas everyday with digestive biscuits and carrots, playing archery and Kevs trip to visit the horses was just amazing. A hidden gem, with so many wonderful places to visit in mid Wales, we cant wait to return! Both the beaches and countryside are spectacular. The children have loved every minute of it, especially having their own private hot tub on the veranda, surrounded by spectacular views of the beautiful Welsh countryside. It has been, by far, the best UK holiday we have ever had. Many thanks to Julie and Kev for being such great hosts and for helping us to create happy holiday memories.
Michael
Great accommodation, great hosts, quiet and relaxing. Shame the weather wasn't brilliant but the Hot Tub more than made up for it
Lauren
We had a really relaxing stay at Red Kite Lodge. We loved waking up every morning and being able to sit on the covered deck, have a coffee and chat with the alpacas and goats. The log burner was a welcome addition on the chillier days, and we spent time every afternoon in the hot tub. Cuddling day old lambs was a particular highlight for us. Newtown is handy for shopping and groceries, but the lodge is secluded enough to make you feel like youre away from it all. We loved our week at Red Kite Lodge and we are already looking at calendars to plan our next return!
Absolutely fabulous place to stay. Everything was clean and tidy, the welcome touches were fantastic. Brilliant location and perfect for a getaway
Mohammad
A fantastic lodge with stunning views and playful animals. Kev and Julie were very helpful and accommodating to all our needs. They also added personal touches to personalise our stay. Will definitely recommend a stay at Manor Farm lodge.
Michael
This place had everything we were looking for and more. Can't recommend it highly enough. Comfort, space, peace and quiet with the joy of friendly animals! Hot tub with views and cosy log fire so relaxing. Thank you for sharing this beautiful well thought out bite of heaven!
Mollie
Beautiful lodge with everything you need for a peaceful, relaxing getaway. Hosts kev & julie so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We had a beautiful chocolate cake, milk & bread left for us on arrival, what a lovely gesture. The alpacas & goats were so friendly and we loved feeding them every morning. We would highly recommend to anyone.
We have had a lovely stay here at Red Kite Lodge. Kev & Julie are very welcoming and friendly. The lodge is clean, comfortable and homely. Very peaceful here and we loved seeing the animals every morning. Hot tub was lovely in the evenings! Thank you for a great stay
Barbara
Kevin and Julie were so friendly, helpful and accommodating. Our lodge was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Would definitely recommend the lodge to others visiting Mid Wales.
It is probably the best lodge we have stayed in views fantastic from hot tub very clean and comfortable
Wonderful week away, everything we needed.
A lovely lodge with very welcoming & approachable owners, there if needed but not intrusive. Lots of little touches made it feel like a real home from home. The hot tub was very welcome at the end of a day out and the fact it was checked daily was very reassuring. Enjoyed it so much we are thinking of booking again for next year .
We had everything we needed for a relaxing week away. Fantastic hosts & beautiful lodge !!
Karina
Fantastic lodge views outstanding would definitely go back again.
Extremely comfortable Lodge, great hosts, lovely setting in countryside.
The 4 of us all adults were very impressed with the quality of the property and the scenic, peaceful surroundings. The lovely chocolate cake our hosts left for us was delicious. We all enjoyed feeding the alpacas when they strolled right up to our verandah. Kev and Julie were very helpful Kev even went and got us some gorgeous ham and pork pies when we struggled to buy any locally thats what you call going the extra mile!! We hope to return again in the future.
Lovely cottage of a very good standard, hosts were excellent and views were super. A fantastic base to discover mid Wales. As 60 somethings we no longer go for long walks, but many places are within an hours drive from the lodge. Would highly recommend it
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at RedKite lodge. Julie & Kev are excellent hosts. The personal touch of a handmade cake and essentials ie milk, bread as well as providing sanitiser and tissues were lovely. Coming back to the lodge after a day out walking and getting into the hot tub was the icing on the cake. This is an excellent place for some true relaxation. We will certainly be back.
