Old Rectory Cottages Reviews

Perfect accommodation for a large family group. Beautiful setting and loads of lovely places nearby to visit. The house is well set up for all ages with practical yet comfortable furnishings. The pool, games room and hot tub are added bonus and gave options for entertainment without leaving the property, Most attentive owner could not have been more helpful.
Sandra
Had a couple of issues, but Stewart was on the case immediately, Stewart is first class owner of the property so caring, the cottage is awesome and the views were stunning, a must to visit Stewart jones piono studio near by, stunning player, and Stewart will play for you and you will have a tear in your eyes, thanks Stewart we will be back.
Great cottage and perfect for all the ages in our party 1 70 year old . Loved the swimming pool and hot tub with the great views to enjoy . Everything we needed for an enjoyable stay Thank you
This is our second time here as a family group of 14. It is perfect for us to spend time together. The pool is large and is great for the family. We enjoyed the hot tub, the views and the best thing about it was having Stuart play a medley for us on his keyboard. Truly inspirational for us all and our four kids who are budding musicians. The views are great and we would definitely stay again and recommend to friends

I booked this property as a celebration of my 70th birthday. It was an opportunity for my children and grandchildren to spend precious time with me, my husband and each other. Stuart is a perfect host and a very special person. He has carefully built a wonderful property in which we have been privileged to build family memories which we will treasure always. The views from all sides of the cottage are stunning and, even in February, we managed some walks, although appropriate footwear is essential. The site feels very safe and this allowed us to relax and enjoy the break from work and school. The facilities on the site were enjoyed by all members of our party. We played every day in the games room and swimming pool much appreciated by the children in particular. The parents spent time in the hottub the spectacular views were an added bonus. The WiFi also meant that those family members who could not afford a complete weeks break werent excluded. The cottage was spacious and exceptionally wellequipped. There was ample equipment to cook and serve family meals together, an experience which we all value. The dishwashers also aided the inevitable cleaningup! We hope that we can return in the future and other parties have as great a holiday as we have had. Thank you Stuart.
What a wonderful place to celebrate Nains birthday with family, 8 adults and 6 grandchildren. The house was spacious, had everything you needed and more. Particularly liked the locally sourced hand wash , shampoo etc.A big plus were the games room, swimming pool and immaculately kept garden and setting. Thank you Stuart for being a wonderful host.
Michele
Thanks so much Stuart for letting us stay at your property, it exceeded our expectations. Youve thought of everything to make this a wonderful experience. There was more than enough space for everyone not to feel on top of one another with the Orangery to sit and admire the beautiful landscape and the games room to use as well. The pool was obviously the star attraction the children did not want to leave! We would definitely like to return at some point.
Stewart
Beautiful cottage set in stunning surroundings. Fantastic facilities that provided fun for all of the family. Although the swimming pool is shared, we had more than enough time in the pool & felt that the booking in system worked really well. Attentive & friendly host. We really couldnt fault this property!
Amazing cottages. Very comfortable, clean and very well equipped. Weather not brilliant so the indoor pool and games room were just what we wanted. Beautiful views from the cottages and Stuart was most helpful.
Charlean
Amazing holiday from start to finish. Stuart, the owner was exceptional and couldn't have made our stay any better. Lots to do for the children and adults with the swimming pool and games room. Great location with Newtown, only being 10 mins away. Would highly recommend booking Old rectory cottages. Would definitely book again in the future.
Old rectory was a wonderful property we booked for the weekend. We were 14 of us and all of us enjoyed a lot. It was a family get together and we really had a lovely time at the cottage. The owner was very kind and helpful, he provided everything needed to make our stay enjoyable. We used Hot tub and swimming pool, its like a private pool only for our group as other guests next door were not using it. I definitely would like to come again in summer time as the views from the property towards the fields were simply amazing.
Robert
We were very impressed with the owner Stuart's support. Close enough to be of assistance whenever we needed it, and far enough away and out of sight, allowing us total freedom to make use of all of the facilities. A most pleasant and helpful ownerhost. The property and facilities were spotless and extremely relaxing in a lovely countryside environment. One suggestion not a criticism is some clear basic laminated instructions for certain equipment, such as the hot tub and and the pool cover to avoid any accidental misuse or damage.
Lovely property. Stuart was so nice and welcoming. Pool and hot tub were used every day. Hope to return one day soon

Wow what a stunning property, abstolutly perfect in every way we were a group of 10 people ages from 1072 and every single 1 of us loved it here everything was thought of it was truly beautiful, and Stuart was very lovely too nothing was too much trouble

We were a group of 14 adults who stayed for the weekend and we had the best time away. Views are gorgeous and the cottage is perfect with a hot tub and swimming pool included. Stuart was very accommodating and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for him. If you are looking for things to do we got taxi's to Newtown which was about a 10 minute drive away and was a lovely little village. I would 100 recommend the old rectory!
Andrew
The property is in a quiet location with lovely views. It's very well kept and maintained. The pool is brilliant and kept at a nice temperature. The hot tub is another bonus to this property. It's regularly checked and the level of chemicals doesn't leave you itching or smelling of chlorine. The owner is exceptionally attentive to guests having a good holiday and will even entertain you with a piano recital. The local area has many footpaths marked on the ordnance survey maps, but finding these paths in reality is a headache. There are very few signs. There are no local amenities, so you need to travel to Newtown for supplies. The town itself was a little disappointing as there didn't appear to be any nice restaurants, cafes or pubs to eat at. On the whole we had a wonderful week, the sole use of the pool was the icing on the cake.

We have been with sykes holiday cottages now on several occasions I think maybe 3 or 4 years and each has been enjoyable but this last one has been the best by far with an owner who really did make us welcome so much and gave such a personal addition of support to our stay incredible we will most certainly be returning for future visits
Raymond
Fantastic letting of 2 x 3 bedroom cottages with modern facilities and magnificent large heated indoor pool. Stuart , the owner was great. Nothing was too much trouble. This was our 4th visit!

Barbara
We have had an amazing time at the old rectory barn. As this is my third stay I would highly recommend this beautiful cottage to anyone looking for a tranquil and peaceful time. I spent this week celebrating my 30th with friends but i would love to return with my son for a family holiday. The owners are very friendly and we look forward to seeing you again. Thankyou so much for making my birthday trip the best! X
The owner was brilliant, a real nice guy and very helpfull
Rebecca
What an amazing find . This place is truly bliss and the photos do not do it justice. Surrounded by stunning scenery its a slice of heaven with amazing walks from the door . From the lovely areas upstairs to eat, drink and relax in with plenty of space for all , to the very comfy beds and showers with plentiful hot water . The huge heated pool was a winner for the children and adults alike. What makes this all extra special is the owner Stuart so helpful and his impromptu outdoor concert gave us all memories we will treasure . Thank you Stuart for allowing us share the magic .

We had an absolutely fabulous time at the old rectory. It's in such a beautiful spot with fantastic views. It was spotless and the owner Stuart was so helpful and couldn't have done enough to make sure we had a great time. Would highly recommend. Thank you so much and we can't wait to return.
Anthony
The property is absolutely amazing. The facilities are second to none with not only a a heated swimming pool but a great hot tub too. Stuart, the property owner, may well just be the most friendly person weve met. He was very attentive to us, showed up around and nothing was too much hassle. Would highly recommend The Old Rectory!
Robert
Despite Storms Dudly, Eunice & Franklin we all managed to arrive safely. First impressions are always important and we could not fault the appearance, cleanliness and layout of Old Rectory Cottage. Pretty well everything is provided and previous renters had left behind useful bits and pieces. The quality of the bed linen, towels and tea towels is of a high standard. We were a party of 8 adults and 6 children and found the accomodation spacious. The Cottage has kitchen and lounges upstairs and bedrooms downstairs. Hence you can hear the young ones running about having got upo earlier than the rest of us. The swimming pool and hot tub were a blessing bearing in mind our first two and a half days we were under the cosh opf the storms so unable to leave the cottage. Needless to say having exclusive use makes life a lot easier when you have youngsters desperate to burn off some energy. There's everything you need in Newtown in respect of shops and major supermarkets. We had a Tesco delivery but others deliver as well. Well done to Stuart Jones and his team for making our stay memorable. If you book you will not be disappointed but get in quick it's very popular.
Nikisha
This is a stunning cottage in an equally beautiful location. The cottage was clean and Stuart the owner went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. He even decorated for Christmas including a Christmas tree Would definitely return!
Coleen
Well what can I say? WOW, this place was incredible and more! The photos do not do this property justice at all, the photos look amazing but being there is person is even better! They have literally thought of everything you might need! We are already looking at booking again!
Deborah
Fabulous cottages, we had 12 family members celebrating my 60th birthday. The cottages were very well equipped and super comfortable. The hot tub and indoor swimming pool were just perfect. We made good use of them both. Stuart was a perfect host, nothing was too much trouble. I left a couple of things there and he has posted them to me. Would definitely recommend
Patricia
Absolutely amazing property, loved staying there! Will definitely be returning. Stuart, the owner was so helpful and friendly too.
When we arrived at The Old Rectory, Aberhafesp. We all knew that we had made the right choice for all 13 of us we rented the whole cottage with 6 bedrooms two lounges, two kitchens, two of the bedrooms are ensuite and it also has two family bathrooms. The seperate indoor heated swimming pool was amazing and all the family used it every day and at various times, my 5 grandchildren ranging from 2 to 12 loved every minute in there and didn't want to leave it. There are lots of things that you can do from it's location eg Powys castle is a must and we went in October so we went pumpkin picking which was 6 miles away, it was a hidden gem and I would recommend anyone to book it and enjoy it as much as we did. Regards Sue Rothwell. Rochdale, Lancashire.
We had the best time! Stuart the owner was very friendly and gave us a great service. The house is amazing and has everything you need. The pool is huge and the hot tub is perfect. I will be coming back soon! Thank you for a great time
Stuart The host was really helpful and the cottage was amazing
Amazing property, panoramic views. the hot tub and pool were the wow factor
Veronica
Fabulous property and we especially enjoyed the swimming pool. Having sole use was perfect as we had 3 toddlers in our group. Stuart, our host, couldn't have been more helpful. He even treated us to a modern music recital
We had a wonderful time at the Old Rectory Cottage. The house was kept very clean and the pool and hot tub were amazing! Stuart the host was also extremely helpful and very friendly! Already recommended to other friends and we will hopeufly be booking it again soon!
Our holiday at the Old Rectory House was a welcome break to spend time with our family during the current uncertain times. Our children range in age from 3 to teenagers and they all thoroughly enjoyed the pool, hot tub and large gardens to play in. The walks around the property are beautiful and there are plenty of places to explore with nobody else encountered on the way. Stuart was welcoming and very prompt if we experienced any difficulties. We will definitely be booking again!
We have had a great holiday. the cottage is perfect for a large family gathering. Kitchens well equipped, furniture good quality, beds very comfortable and the whole cottage exceptionally clean. The pool and hot tubs turn a great cottage into a fabulous one. The pool is huge and facilities good. It is indoor which is perfect if it rains but if it is hot there are double doors so you feel outdoor. The hot tub is new, clean and a great way to wind down after a busy day and look at the stars. Good location, quiet and yet easy to get access to supermarkets and about 40mins to seaside. Without doubt the key selling point is the owner Stuart. Thoughtful and wanted to ensure all was good and we were happy. He was a wonderful host and the attention to detail on the cottage is credit to him and his much loved and missed mother. We will be going back.
Gregory
A lovely Stunning spacious property, quality throughout and a large private swimming pool too,If your looking to have a family break you will not be disappointed. The property is a short drive from Newtown and surrounded by countryside and woodland,we visited in February and filled are time going for walks and swimming in the large warm pool along with a hot tub looking out over the fields and river. The local town has everything you need plus a tenpin bowling alley which was fun. The owner Mr Jones is only a phone call away if and is very helpful.
Michelle
We spent a week here at Christmas for our family with included 4 children, 3 of them toddlers. The house was of high specification and we did have to put some of the household decorations away from toddler reach, which Stuart the owner had no problem with. We received a key for the pool and could use it anytime of day or night which we did. The pool was amazing and really warm. The pool room also had showers, toilet and changing area so we could spend plenty of time in there. The hot tub was a great added feature too. The house was decorated lovely at Christmas with a tree and additional decorations. We received a Tesco home delivery of groceries when we arrived, which was perfect. The house had pretty much everything we needed for a great family get together. We paid quite a high price for the whole property over the Christmas period but it did not disappoint. Stuart was a lovely gentleman who we saw everyday check the pool and hot tub area. Highly recommended and we are extremely fussy.
