Oak Farm Reviews

David
The family of mixed ages had a great weekend. the hot tub was most popular with the younger ones. Plenty of space and a relaxed time was had by all.
Michael
Very comfortable and homely accomodation, providing everything uou could possibly need for a home from home experience.
Ann
Excellent accommodation and facilities. Location near canal and Cromford is great, but proximity to Derby Road causes a lot of noise if you're not used to it, especially the motorbikes!
Natalie
This is a perfectly pleasant property. The layout is on many levels which is to be expected with a farm house conversion. It is challenging in the summer when the aga is on full-time and the outdoor temperature is reaching 30 degrees. The furnishings and beds were comfy but it should be noted the twin room is very small and only suitable for small Read morechildren. Overall, however we enjoyed our holiday there. Hide
Steven
An excellent property, well equipped and very clean. As others have noted the property is adjacent to the A6 and it can be a bit noisy with trucks charging past in the early morning - not that we were particularly bothered by this. But on the plus side there is excellent (dog) walking literally from the front door. Both easy going along the canal oRead morer up into the woods. Bottom line, we felt like appreciated guests and not simply paying customers. Recommended. Hide
kevin
The property was fine. Unfortunately the location was not. Only feet away from the A6 which is a horribly busy road with fast moving HGV. The Cromford canal walk was great but crossing the A6 was a nightmare with grandchild and a dog so we only did that once. We probably should have done our own research on google earth and the reviews.
Angela
The perfect holiday house in a great location, facilities & welcome pack 5*, Information pack, games, books, DVDs plus more. Beds were super comfortable & whole house was spotlessly clean! Thank you .
Beulah
Luxurious property, very well equipped, ideal for a celebration.
Alison
Really lovely property, we couldn't fault it at all. Spacious, well equipped, spotless and very comfortable. Lovely hotub and garden area. Well located with Matlock just around the corner for bars and restaurants.
Denise
Lovely cottage. Maintained to a high standard. Very well equipped. Good location. 25 minute walk to Cromford along the canal which can be accessed from the footpath across the road. We stayed for a week and managed to do six walks from the cottage. The property is next to the A6 which is very busy. Would definitely recommend Oak Farm.
Charlotte
We stayed here over Christmas with 7 adults and 2 dogs and it suited us very well indeed. The house is large and comfortable, with 3 bedrooms particularly nice. The main lounge and dining room were perfect for a large group, and the kitchen was amazing for cooking Christmas lunch - the Aga made it so easy. We appreciated the Christmas tree and decoRead morerations too. Hot tub and games room a nice touch, as was Sky TV. The main road wasnt too bad, but it was a bit hairy crossing to the canal at times. Thank you for having us, we had a great time! The house was warm and welcoming, there was an excellent selection of facilities, and the guidance provided was friendly and informative.
Wendy
We had a fantastic weekend at Oak Farm and are planning to return next year. The accommodation was cosy, comfortable and spacious with the added bonus of hot tub and games room. Excellent location to explore this beautiful area.
Kerry
Great cottage with everything you need provided. Good size rooms with plenty of storage and comfrey beds. Enjoyed the hot tub after some long walks and outside showers are a great idea. Secure for the dogs. I would love to give it 5 stars for location as some great walks from the cottage, Cromford and Matlock along the canal is a must but the 50MPHRead more road right outside with heaving trucks and cars speeding by does spoil it. Car is required to nip to the shops, nothing in walking distance. Hide
Alison
Very pleasant cottage in good location
Derek
We enjoyed our stay in this well appointed cottage, close to Matlock with ample parking and enclosed garden. The cottage is dog friendly, with good gates and fences to the garden and drive. Plenty of things to do with board games and a games room too.
Nigel
We had an absolutely marvellous four days, a family gathering to mark / celebrate a brace of 60th birthdays. Perfect accommodation for four couples, plus a tiny baby. The only very minor negative, was the proximity to the main road, and the fact that it was a motorcycle rally in the nearby town, so a constant stream of raucous machines. This was no ticeable, but hardly overly disruptive, and the city dwellers amongst our group barely noticed. A huge thanks to the owners, a wonderful stay.
Kerry
A very good walk right across the road of the property to cromford mills along the canal and we did the long boat trip along there from the mill. Very lovely cafe at the mill all cooked fresh and catered for celiacs too and dog friendly. brilliant antique collectable shop there too. Yes the road is noisy but we knew this beforehand but the bedrooms and bathrooms ticked all our other boxes. the sun shon each day n we bbq ed each day which was fab!
Christine
The cottage is in an ideal location, I would say to suit a variety of requirements, beautiful walks close to amenities The cottage itself caters for a variety of needs whatever your age, my grandchildren enjoyed the games room, the hot tub provided an excellent way to relax 5 stars
Joanne
A fabulous house in a lovely area. The house has everything you need for a family trip away. Games room is great and hot tub a real treat. It is on a main road but that wssnt much of an issue for us. The local area is lovely with walks on the doorstep.
Jayne
Lovely cottage in excellent location. Good communication prior to our arrival & everything straight forward to enter cottage. We all enjoyed the hot tub & games area which were an added bonus. Plenty of parking space for our 3 cars. The cottage is directly on A6 & we noted traffic noise was mentioned in previous reviews but this did not disturb us at all. We explored Matlock, Bakewell & Chatsworth House. Matlock Farm was lovely for our small grandchildren also Heights of Abraham worth a visit.
Christopher
The house was perfect for 3 couples and kids, the bedrooms and bathrooms were great and clean. The house is well appointed with equipment, however there were issues with the cleanliness of some items requiring a couple of hours cleaning on arrival. The house is close by the Cromford canal and start of high peak trail, so great for walks. Unfortunat ely the house is right on the A6, which is a very busy road, with heavy goods lorries passing 24hrs a day, you feel the house shake at times
Rachel
We had a great weekend at Oak Farm. We were a group of 7 friends and it provided an ideal getaway. Lots of bathrooms and toilets, beds were very comfortable and it was spotless. The hot tub and games room are welcome additions and its in the ideal location for walks and activities with lots to do in the local area, including walking distance to Cro mford - we walked via the canal. The smallest twin room is small for adults sharing but would be fine for children. All of us hope to be back!
Marian
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is very comfortable and well equipped; the hot tub and games room were added bonuses! Good location with pleasant walks from the door and a short drive to other attractions.
Tracey
The house is well placed to visit the surrounding areas and with a lovely walk along the canal into Matlock. Unfortunately it is very close to the busy main road and this was an issue for us with having two dogs, it was also noisy first thing in the morning with the volume of traffic. For some this may not be an issue but we found that for what we wanted the house did not suit our needs.
Marilyn
The cottage is fabulous, very warm and cosy . The beds and bedding was really good quality so making for a good nights sleep . The Aga was great too keeping the kitchen toasty and it was easy to use . We couldnt get enough of the hot tub it was well used ! We would 100% recommend it . Good value for money too .
Leah
I cant recommend this lovely property enough. Everything was perfect, very clean, comfy beds, spacious rooms, great location and a good outside area with hot tub AND games room included. We couldnt have asked for more. I will definitely be booking again.
Jenny
This was a very well equipped premises. It was also suprisingly quiet. Because of the Aga it always felt warm and comfortable. WE had a good family gathering there with space to be together or space to be apart. Had a great walk over the hill and back down the canal. Shame about the rain but a nice dry place to return to.
Lynn
Lovely spacious and clean house. Well equipped. Good location with lots of walks on the doorstep. Busy road right outside the property made it a little awkward and dangerous to cross the road.
Karen
We had a lovely stay here. The farm house was, clean, warm, very well equipped and ideal for a large gathering. We made good use of the hot tub and the games room which were great features. Its well located for walks along the canal and High Peak Trail but is perhaps a little too far to walk to the nearest pubs and shops. Maybe in the summer the ro ad noise may be a bit much if sitting out in the garden but once inside it was negligible. Would highly recommend and would stay again.
Donna
This is the perfect home from home with a few extras! Fabulous place for a family get together, great location with walks close by and 10 min drive to matlock bath or matlock. Very clean on arrival, easy directions to follow, really spacious & comfortable, we had a terrific family weekend. Games room is a bonus and the hot tub is a great treat. Wou ld highly recommend & hopefully return next year.
Gordon
The house is clean and well equipped. Three of the four rooms are large double rooms. The fourth is a small double. The house is right next to the A6 so traffic noise was noticeable but didnt spoil our stay. The hot tub is good fun.
Jessica
I would definitely recommend this cottage. Its facilities are exceptional- the games room and hot tub in particular! The cottage itself is very clean with super comfy beds, and its well situated. The only thing to note is that its on a fairly busy road, so you can hear some traffic during the day, but this doesnt deduct from the overall experience. You wont be disappointed booking this place!
Julie
Fabulous accommodation with plenty of room for 8 adults! One bedroom is very small but comfortable. All beds were comfy. Plenty of toilets and showers. The games room was fab! Hot tub nice but only suitable for four people. Very warm house due to the aga. Great walks out of the gate. Mobile phone signal was weak but WiFi was good.
Andrew
Clean and well equipped, good location for exploring the area, games room and hot tub are a great benefit. Traffic can be noisy but we knew that from previous reviews and it doesnt spoil the experience. Had problems with the aga during our stay which resulted in no hot water but contacted the owners who sorted the next day. Lovely property.
Eve
Whilst Oak farm is in great location for exploring the Peak District , we found its situation so close to the noisy A6 a constant irritation. Whilst sitting outside we couldnt hear ourselves speak! The lounge is dark and uninviting, the bath/shower situation not ideal for our group of 7 adults. However we enjoyed our holiday and had great weather.H aving the canal walk so close was lovely. Owner responded quickly to a minor issue. Used the hot tub several times and had BBQ a couple of nights.
Helen
Clean, Neat, and Tidy throughout. Great location. Would certainly recommend. Found the sofas in the lounge a little too soft, almost sat on the floor when you sat in them. Otherwise no adverse comments at all. Hot tub, amazing, and the boys loved the games room. We had a wonderful holiday.
Suzanne
I booked Oak farm for a 50th birthday celebration for all the family. It comfortably sleeps 8, though the small Twin is very small so a bit tight for 2 adults. Like others have said its on a main road so is noisy, it didnt bother us as we live on a main road. The house has 3 huge bedrooms and was ideal for all our needs. Great location for some nic e walks but also nice to stay and just chill with the hot tub. Games room was average and aimed more for little children, but still nice!
Louise
Great cottage in a great location.
Esther
A lovely property, very clean and well maintained.
