The Moorhen Retreat Reviews

Samantha
Wonderful shepherds hut as described, very clean and has everything you need. Fantastic location, so peaceful and remote so great for private romantic trips. Hot tub was great and the owners even started it up for us before we arrived so no messing around waiting for it to heat up. Owners so lovely, Pete took us for a tour of his farm and its was great seeing the hills and lots of sheep.
Kirsty
Peter and Sarah are fabulous hosts. The moorhen retreat is one of the most relaxing places we have been for a long time. The hut is gorgeous and time has been taken to make it feel like home away from home. The hot tub is incredible and really holds its heat unlike previous wood fire hot tubs we have used. Nothing to fault here. Will be booking here again.
We absolutely loved our stay at The Moorhen Retreat! The hut has been very well designed & the views & surroundings are just amazing. Great for a quiet weekend away with fantastic hosts.
Adrian
Beautiful Shepherds Hut. Wonderful surroundings with a sense of tranquility and peace. This is really is a quiet place and a rural escape. Facilities are excellent with bbq, hot tub with creatively crafted outside space. Such a joy to just sit outside and watch the sheep and wildlife display before you. Lovely and friendly hosts. The best. Thanks.
The week was idyllic and we can't wait to come back. We particularly appreciated the treats on arrival and the tour was great fun. The hut was very comfortable, particularly the large bed, and had everything you could need. The wood fired hot tub was ace and we made good use of the gas BBQ. Thank you Pete and Sarah for being such wonderful hosts and hope you had a brilliant well deserved holiday.
Elysia
The place was gorgeous and the view was amazing. The sheep in the field across and the rabbits and the ducks just made it even more special. It was lovely and remote. The owners were very friendly.
Sarah and Pete were excellent hosts . . nothing was too much trouble for them. The accommodation was quaint, clean, very comfortable and excellent value for money and the view was to die for. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be visiting again

We had a brilliant 4 nights Everything inside is nice and we'll thought out Had all the things and more we could possibly need The location was beautiful and peaceful The owners was really friendly and helpful Cant rate this place enough and we will definitely return
We had a wonderful weeklong stay in this stunning shepherd's hut which was perfect and had everything needed including a great woodfired hot tub which we used every night. The location is beautiful, quiet and was ideal for us to travel to a mixture of locations plus some local gems. Loved having all the sheeplambs as neighbours and the farm tour was a nice addition. Pete and Laura were amazing hosts. We can not fault the Moorhen Retreat and would definitely return and recommend it to all.
Matthew
Great peaceful location, central to some amazing scenery, welcoming owners, Thank you for a great stay

This is the first time we had stayed in a shepards hut, and wow we was blown away! The pictures do not do it justice, it is much better, such beauty surrounds it with the most amazing views, the bed is the best we have had whilst on holidays the sheets pillows and duvet divine, water pressure is fantastic, i still can't believe you can have everything you need in a shepards hut and space, the wood firerd hot tub was excellent so much better than an electric one as it retains the heat , you get a starter pack for the hot tub which was more than enough for our 5 night stay, and we used it everyday alot! The dressing gowns that were supplied for our stay were so super soft i didn't want to take it off, we also were left a gift when we arrived that was such a lovely thing to do , but i won't tell you what it was , so you can book this place and find out! Pete and Sarah the owners are fantastic very friendly and welcoming and pete took us on a tour of the massive farm in his 4x4 right up the hills, we felt like we were in the clouds the views were amazing, so much to do in the area like the waterfalls and the fab pub the royal oak with affordable mouth watering food and owestry was amazing, we can't wait to go back
Such a treat. Clean, well stocked, lovely welcome. Time out, a beautiful retreat. Thank you to our hosts. Definitely recommend

We had an excellent break at the moorhen retreat. The hut is clean and very well equipped, and has a very nice hot tub and covered bbq area. Sarah and Pete are very welcoming and helpful, we loved seeing the sheep and having a tour round the land. We are really looking forward to visiting again, it is so peaceful and has amazing views too.
Damian

Absolutely loved our stay. What a gorgeous, tranquil and homely shepards hut. The pictures don't do it justice. The furnishings and surroundings make this a beautiful place to stay and the best way to relax and unwind. The hot tub was an absolute dream, and nothing better than relaxing under the stars with a glass of fizz. Owners Sarah, Pete and son Owen were so friendly and welcoming. Honestly can't wait to come back and stay again. Thank you so much for the stay!
Chloe Louise
