Ysgubor Reviews

Weve recently returned from our second stay at this property we loved our first stay, and our second stay didnt disappoint. As a large extended family group including different ages, kids and dogs the spacious and flexible accommodation is perfect for us and we always spend many an evening playing darts and pool. Its an old cottage so there are lots of original features and its furnished in a less modern fashion but this is perfectly in keeping with the house and area and we love the cozy, homely feel of the place! The rural location is perfect for a quiet relaxed break away from it all with plenty of walks and beautiful scenery nearby, and beaches within half an hours drive. The owners are lovely and super attentive and we would happily go back and stay again!

Fabulous Farmhouse full of character and charm, owners were amazing and were there to welcome us and make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. Lovely time had would totally recommend this property and owners
Property very tired. Could do with a good make over. Had a clean everything before use in cupboards as was covered in previous occupants food. Although fridge's appeared to work they they had a strange smell about them. Place definitely left cleaner when we left. Large bedroom off the kitchen was not suitable for anyone over 5ft 5inches due to low door frame. Other large bedroom was difficult to sleep in due to no blind up at sky light window which shone down onto bed early morning. Games room could have had more games to keep children happy. Distance from anywhere that was of interest was generally an hour and a half away. Hot tub lovely. Owners lovely to speak to.

Wonderful house. We enjoyed our stay, plenty of room for all of us. We were a party of 6 adults, 5 teenagers and two dogs. Location is perfect for exploring the area. Short drive to Dolgellau and plenty of walks from the house.
Katrina
Lovely old house and garden, friendly owners. fantastic scenery. However the house would benefit from a deep clean e.g. the fridge freezers had spilled food in them. Great sized decking but needs repair to make it safe and garden furniture both there and up on the lawn to make the most of the outdoor spaces. The stairs up from the kitchen would be safer for young children with a stair gate. The gates provided were too small to fit the gap. Overall we enjoyed our family holiday and these few changes would have made it perfect.

Mr and Mrs Evans were amazing hosts, very welcoming people who have an amazing spacious property in a fantastic location. . the whole family enjoyed the holiday and can't wait to go back again. Thankyou for a lovely holiday .
Very helpful and welcoming family run, son helped us with a internet issue we had he was very accommodating too, lovely setting walked the hill behind the house too, great spot for a peaceful holiday, would definitely recommend to anyone as your well behaved doggies can come too which to me is a wonderful holiday where the whole family is included no matter how big or small. So a big thank you from us all x
Lovely accommodation and stunning location
Darren
Such a lovely property. Full on character & in a wonderful setting nestled in a beautiful valley. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners. They really pulled out the stops. Would love to come back & stay again.
We loved this house, great views great walks. We also had the experience of watching the farmer scan his sheep, we loved it.
Amazing cottage, plenty of room for our party, which consisted of 6 adults, 1 teen, and 3 juniors! Lots of kitchen equipment, plenty of fridgefreezer storage and games and stuff for the kids! Two TV's good signal, WiFi and EE phone signal very good! Would definitely recommend, and would use this place again! Couple of issues which we communicated to the owners, but all in all a lovely Christmas week was enjoyed by all.

When we arrived at ysgubor, we were met by the owners Mr and Mrs Evan's, who were such lovely people. They were very informative, showing us around the property and explaining everything. The farmhouse itself we found to be full of character and charm. We had everything we needed, yes there are one or two things that could do with upgrading, but that's all part of it. We were warm comfortable, and it is very dog freindly. An abundance of bathrooms and bedrooms to choose from, comfortable seating areas, we had the wood burner on in the formal dining room, which was so cosy. We will book again. All in all we all had a wonderful week,so thank you
Hi we hired the Old Post Office for a New Year get together after New Year, we had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the Cottage. Neil the owner was extremely helpful and we found him to be very attentive. We would highly recommend the cottage for a large group get together.
A fabulous house, so much space for us all. Stunning scenery all around and the male members did a couple of strenuous walks from the house. They also loved being in the Mach Loop, which didn't disappoint! My only criticism is the house needs a little TLC.
Bathrooms could do with updating and refurbishment. More attention needed for issues like spare bulbs, cooker hood and microwave. Plenty of space for large group. Comfort of communal area was great. Location fantastic. Loved the jets! Had a great family holiday.
Matthew
Lovely place, full of a lot of character and plenty of room. We had a great time making use of the hottub and the outside space as the weather was beautiful. As we were a large group, having multiple large communal spaces was great, as we could separate out or all fit into the same room together. It was a very peaceful stay, although also great to watch planes flying down the valley. As well as making use of the lovely house, we also used it as a base to explore the local area, which has lots of lovely walks. The owners were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating!
We went away with our three grownup sons and their partners plus two very small grandchildren. We had a lovely time and can thoroughly recommend it.
Very happy with the cottage and everything that mid Wales offered us Will return !
Charlotte
Beautiful cottage, full of character surrounded by stunning scenery. The accommodation has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area. Lovely walks straight from the door, my dog really enjoyed it . Loved stargazing from the hot tub. Pool table good fun too. Would recommend and would love to come back.
We had a wonderful stay 4 adults 2 kids, such a lovely old cottage with lots of rooms and space. The views outside the cottage and surrounding areas are amazing! Mr and Mrs Evans couldnt do enough for us. Planning to go back in the springsummer.
We really really loved the cottage, it was spacious and full of character. When we arrived the owners were lovely and the cottage was clean to a high standard. The hot tub was new and was great. There are some things that would improve guests stays. More comfortable mattresses on the beds and cushions on the chairs and bench around the kitchen table. There was no barbecue to cook outside and the house really lacked garden furniture in both lower and upper gardens. The upper gardens had great views and it would have been nice to have sat up there in the early mornings and evenings.
A warm welcome. Highlight was the low level fly pass of the RAF jets over the valley.
Rebecca
Lovely holiday in a fabulous location. Perfect for my family and two dogs. Would love to return.
Lovely big cottage will lots of facilities. Well stocked kitchen with lots of pots, pans and crockery. We really enjoyed the hot tub and games room. Mrs Evans was very helpful as my husband has a disability and need equipment delivered. Both her and her husband are very friendly. Its was a lovely base to discover Snowdonia.
We had a wonderful week hear with our family celebrating a 21st anniversary and a 70th birthday. Lovely large cottage with wonderful features and beautiful surroundings. Lovely walks to the little town and surrounding areas. Could do with a larger bbq but other than that no issues. Would happily come back again.
Nicola
Beautiful cottage, loved the hot tub, stunning local area which we explored on foot. The only thing that I think would improve the stay is having cupboard space in the kitchen for food.
Sheila
We had a fantastic weekend here in Wales we will be back. Our family ages range from 81 to 4 years old and everyone had a ball. 4 of us visited the slate mine well worth the money. We had Sunday lunch at the Red lion for mother's day good value for money, delicious and very welcoming.
We had an amazing time. The cottage itself was amazing surrounded by picturesque nature. Mrs Jones was so lovely. Gave us a call the day before to instruct us on key collection and itinerary. Highly recommended. Would definitely go back.
Francis
The cottage was absolutely amazing and I cant thank the host enough for welcoming us as they did. Me and my family are planning when to visit again as we had such a great time.
Fabulous cottage. 6 adults 4 kids and a cavapoo had a great week in the October half term. The hot tub was an absolute winner the wood burners made it so cosy. The inside space meant that everyone could do their own thing and always find a quiet corner. The owners Mr and Mrs Evans were lovely they were so very welcoming and certainly made you feel at home from the start. Outside the views are spectacular and whether you are an ardent hiker or just going for a walk with the kids there are some great places to explore. The walk into Dinas Mawddwy was lovely on the forest path about 1.5 miles There you have a pub a post office and a beautiful little coffee and gift shop which sells delicious cakes and well worth a visit. Even before the end of the holiday we were planning a return visit next spring.
Fabulous old farmhouse with loads of space. Fitted our needs perfectly fir family reunion with 8 adults and 2 dogs. Amazing views and walks, and the hosts were so friendly and helpful
We loved the cottage, very quirky, comfy beds, fantastic hot tub, lovely garden. Nice friendly owners. Lots of shops, restaurants, a beach and attractions near by. Gorgeous scenery surrounding the cottage. Great family holiday.
Rebecca
We had the best holiday! The owners are lovely, they told us some great walking routes around the cottage. Cottage was immaculate and everything is well thought of! Hot tub was great and the gardens to the cottage were not only beautiful but perfect for our 3 dogs. As a group of 11 and 3 dogs there was plenty of space for us all. I loved that each bathroom had a different amenity, kids showered in a different bathroom each night! So many kitchen utilities and log fires stocked up ready on arrival. The location is perfect, feels like your there all alone! We had the perfect stay and enjoyed visits to many local areas and attractions! We will be visiting again.
This is the cottage that just keeps on giving. In a stunning location with jets flying past, Mair and David are lovely hosts and Martin next door very knowledgeable about the local area. The cottage itself was full of character and very spacious, everything you need is there the hot tub topped things off nicely. Wonderful place to stay and central to lots of places to visit we loved it and will be going back!
Absolutely lovely little well equipped welsh farmhouse, situated in a lovely quiet location, but within easy reach of beaches, towns etc. The property is owned by a lovely family, who we enjoyed chatting too. The games room and the hot tub were a big hit with our children.
Andrew
Excellent cottage. Mr and Mrs Evans were so friendly, very warm and welcoming with lots of advice on where to walk locally. The location was stunning and the cottage very quiet. Hot tub excellent, very private and sheltered from any wind. We couldnt have wished for a better cottage, spotlessly clean for such an old place, and full of character. If you like hill walking, you are spoilt for choice. We would recommend walking up the forestry track behind the cottage to Glasgwm, and the walk up Foel Dinas via the stunning Maesglase valley opposite the cottage. And Camlan is very much worth a visit
Annette
Lovely spot with outstanding views of the beautiful welsh countryside.
Farooq
Absolutely beautiful cottage and surroundings. Quiet surroundings with amenities not too far. Also quite a few local attractions and beaches not more than 3040 mins away. We loved our short break here it was just a shame we were only here for 4 days i wish it was longer. Clive is a top guy, extremely helpful. All in all would recommend this as a superb location for a holiday.
The cottage is amazing and had everything we needed. The hot tub is great after a long day cycling or walking. The host made us feel really welcome and made sure we had info on the local area and supplies. We will be returning soon. Thank you
Victoria
We had a lovely stay at this lovely cottage. The views with breathtaking and the accommodation itself was great. However a couple of things could be approved on. A couple of the amenities such as the hot tub, music player and furnishing need updating a bit. The bed in the master bedroom was pretty uncomfy as well. Everything else was perfect though, the log burner was amazing, we enjoyed many nights huddled round the dining table playing board games in front of the fire. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed. The owners were so lovely and always on hand to ask any questions we had.
