Fauld Retreat Reviews

James
Absolutely loved our stay! The BBQ hut and hot tub were fantasticand the garden was perfect for our dogs. Such a peaceful spot, even in chilly November!
James
We really enjoyed our time here. The place is beautifully finished and super comfy, with everything you might need. Just a heads up, the hot tub needs quite a few logs to warm up, so best to start early to avoid disappointment!
Mark
Really enjoyed the stay! The garden was beautiful, kids and dog had a blast. Quiet spot but close enough to everything. Would come back!
Emma
We had an amazing stay at this lovely cottage! The location is perfect for exploring Carlisle and Gretna, with easy access and then some. The decor is charmingand those quirky lighting features really added a special touch. The hot tub was fantastic, though it did take a bit of work to get it going properly - a bag of wood would’ve helped. The BBQ hut was a real highlight, especially with the TV, cushionsand blankets. Watching the cows in the field on our last day was a lovely surprise, they were so curious!
Emma
We had an amazing stay! The place was spotless and really well kept, couldn’t find any faults. The BBQ hut was a real highlight, especially since even the rainy evenings didn’t stop us from enjoying a good cookout. The hot tub was such a bonus after walking around the lakes all day - super relaxing. We’d definitely recommend it and hope to come back again someday!

The location was spot on for exploring the Lake Districtand we got there pretty quickly from our last-minute booking. The owner was really helpful and easy to reach, which made everything so much smoother. The cottage itself was cosyand the jacuzzi was a lovely bonus after long days out. We’d definitely stay again!

We had a lovely week here! The outdoor space was perfect for our dogs to roam freely. Even in the rain, the hot tub was a highlight, especially with cows watching us - quite amusing! The owners were super helpfuland our shopping delivery arrived without any fuss. It’s a great spot for a peaceful getaway with a bit of fun thrown in!
Laura
We had a fantastic stay! The house was beautifully decorated, modernand you could tell they paid attention to every detail. The hot tub was a real highlight, though it took us a bit to figure out how to use it properly. The location was so peaceful, with charming little towns nearby. The kids and dogs adored the outdoor space. We definitely want to return someday and recommend the Crown and Thistle in Rockcliffe for a lovely meal!
Alex
The hot tub and BBQ hut made our stay really special for the kids!

Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 6 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT
about 21 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 23 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ
about 26 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
