High Brow Cottage Tirril Reviews

Emma
We loved the spot! The views are stunning and it’s super easy to reach Ullswater from here. The cottage was really well-equipped, just like home - loved the dressing gowns as a little treat. The welcome pack and selection of games were a nice touchand the info on local places was helpful. Just a heads up if you walk your dog down the road, some drivers go a bit fast on the narrow stretch, so watch out!
Emma
We had an amazing stay at this charming cottage! The walled garden was perfect for keeping an eye on our two dogsand the views from the property were absolutely stunning. It’s just a quick drive to Pooley Bridge, which has plenty of walks and lovely places to eat. The owner’s touch with matching towels and robes for the hot tub was a nice detail. Also, the wood ready for the log fire made our evenings cosy. We’d definitely recommend it - we loved every minute!!
Emma

Really enjoyed our stay, lovely views and a peaceful spot. Hosts were super helpful, definitely returning soon!

The outdoor area was charmingand the location perfect, but the furniture is quite basic for the price. Inside was spotless, though it could do with a bit more attention considering the charges. No sink in the toilet was a bit odd, but we still enjoyed our stay!
Emma
We had a really lovely stay here! The location is spot on, with stunning views and just a quick 4-minute drive to Pooley Bridge. The property itself is comfortable, though a bit on the older side, but it didn’t bother us. The sun room and hot tub were definite highlightsand the little touches like Prosecco on arrival and robes made it special. Only thing is, for the price, we thought it could be a bit more modern. Still, we’d come back!
Emma

The place was beautifully tucked away, yet close enough to shops and local spots. We really enjoyed the peaceful walks around the estate. The cows visiting every day made it extra special! Everything we needed was there-washer, dryer, iron, you name it. The welcome basket was a lovely touch too!

Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 8 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 13 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 18 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 20 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 29 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
