Near Bank Cottage Reviews

We had a lovely time and would gladly return, obviously with old barns and old properties, there are always snags, nothing major in Near Banks case. Nothing detrimental to our stay, sometimes it's us getting used to the way other properties are and their quirks. There was a torrential downpour on one day, the stream at the top burst it's banks and caused a slight flood into the games room, again it was all taken care of, the first time in five years, hey ho. Really, it was a fab place for a family holiday. A real plus, there was no.long list of do's and don'ts, that you find in other places, made you feel at ease too.

We recently stayed at a Sykes Cottage, and it was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The cottage was spotlessly clean, cozy, and filled with charming character. The attention to detail made all the differencebeautiful decor, fluffy towels, and a wellequipped kitchen that made cooking easy and fun. The games room is definitely USP! It was brilliant. Hot Tub was also a good addition. The location was ideal for exploring the surrounding countryside and local beahes, with stunning views right from our window. It was so peaceful, yet close enough to local amenities and lovely walking trails. The communication from Kath was also excellentbooking was seamless, and all information was clear and helpful. We even received a thoughtful welcome pack, which added a personal touch that made us feel truly welcomed. Overall, this was one of the best holiday experiences we've had. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a perfect, restful getaway or a get together for friends and family. We cant wait to come back!
Samantha
Absolutely brilliant. In a beautiful, peaceful, remote location. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped with lots to do. The hot tub is lovely and it's great having a separate area in the barngames room. Kath is very friendly and helpful if you have any questions or issues. We had an excellent time and hopefully will be back.
Lesley
The house and facilities were fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay in beautiful surroundings. We would highly recommend this place to others!!
Weve had the most amazing week. Everything you could need was available at Near Bank Cottage. It was perfect. Kath the owner was available when we had a small question and was so lovely and helpful. Cant recommend Near Bank cottage enough. Thank you for providing a beautiful cottage in the most stunning location which was immaculately kept inside and out.
Beautiful farmhouse. Everything we needed and more. Kitchen well equipped didn't use half of the equipment as we are barbequed or ate out. The property was so spacious there where nine of us and never felt in each way. The games room was absolutely amazing we spent most of the time we where in there. Every night was spent playing darts. Pool . Ping pong and air hockey. We said it was like owning our own pub. Farmhouse was a bit more isolated than expected pub and shops not really within walking distance but this did not spoil our holiday. Views where stunning. Kath and her husband popped in a couple of times and where lovely. They gave us tips on where to go and places to eat.
Absolutely fantastic house . We are a family of 6 adults , 1 toddler , a baby and a dog and it was perfect The games room is exceptional Everything and more you could want The owner had gone to a lot of trouble to make sure there is everything you could need The hot tub was amazing It is very remote but this is made very clear on the information given Thank you
Vanessa
Fantastic location and excellent facilities. The barn with pool table, dart board etc made it such a great place to hang out in the rubbish weather. The kitchen was well kitted out and great that all 10 of us could eat together. Two large fridges and a wine cooler was really useful. Hot tub was fab, garden was gorgeous with lots of seating and lovely views. Overall cleanliness was ok few cobwebs etc, to be expected in an old cottage. Welcome gift was appreciated. Would not hesitate to book again.
Beverley
Absolutely amazing 4 night family stay at this lovely cottage.
Christine
We have had the most wonderful time at Near Bank Cottage. Perfect for large family gathering and the Games room and Hot tub were the icing on the cake. Thank you so much to Kath the owner x
Heather
Fantastic week in a superb location. Games room and hot tub provided perfect end to busy days. Wonderful space and fab host.

Our second time here at this fabulous cottage. Weather was terrible at times February but loads to keep the children and adults occupied in the huge games room. Hot tub brill, location has great views looking out to the sea, and plenty of walks for the dogs! Not to mention curling up beside the lovely log burner after being out in the cold, Fab! Didn't want to come home....
Angela
Our stay over Christmas was wonderful. The cottage is very clean, comfortable and cosy. The log burner was well used. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. The bathrooms are of a high standard with underfloor heating. The WiFi was good and there are even Sky boxes to both TV's. The games room with the seating area and American style fridge freezer perfect to store our drinks was amazing. All the bedrooms were very comfortable, we slept very well. All fixtures and fittings are of an extremely high standard. Unfortunately the weather was not up to using the hot tub or outside areas which was a shame. Our two dogs had plenty of room for walking. The Christmas decorations were lovely and far exceeded our expectations. The whole place is full of character. Everything far exceeded our expectations and the welcome gifts were a lovely touch. Thank you so very much. The Fellows family.

What a place! We went for a surprise weekend away for my dads 50th birthday, he had absolutely no idea and was speechless when he turned up to this beautiful cottage. The pictures do not do it justice i feel it looks quite small on some pictures but in person the place is huge! It took our breaths away. And the games room I thought wasnt connected to the house but it was! It was all just perfect in every way I cannot recommend enough. The owner popped in when we arrived to empty our bins and bring us logs for the log fire, he was such a nice and friendly man. We all had the best weekend it was absolutely fantastic oh and the views from the propertythe place is beautiful, you have to go!
Louise
We had a great stay at Near Bank Cottage for my brothers 40th birthday. The cottage was clean, spacious and well equipped. The games room is a great room for all the family and this is where we spent most of our time! The welcome hamper was a lovely surprise. Would highly recommend!
Lovely property, well equipped games room and hot tub fantastic . .had problem with the tv and Cathy sorted it straight away ..the local pub, the brown cow, do a take away,, can recommend the fish and chips .A great place to stay, near to quiet beaches and hills with views, our dogs loved it and so did we .
Lovely homely large property really well equipped i. E. kitchen, sky tv, games room for all ages. Very suitable for large family break as was described. Appreciated the Welcome pack birthday banner.
Cheryl
Fantastic stay, great communication from Kath. Very homely, games room and hot tub were spot on. We loved our stay and will be returning. Thank you
Absolutely great find. What a beautiful cottage with excellent facilities. The games room is fantastic. The hot tub was great to have. The living spaces & bedrooms were really comfortable and homely. Plenty of everything! The welcome pack was also a wonderful surprise. Thanks to Kath for the wonderful home. We would definitely return and have no hesitation in recommending.

There is not one or two points that can sum up our stay at Near Bank Cottage, it's the whole package from relaxing location, sunsets, gardens, amazing facilities and such well appointed accommodation. We had an amazing relaxing holiday, thank you for the effort put in to make our stay so memorable.
We had a wonderful stay at Near Bank cottage, everything we needed was provided, Kathy was really friendly and helpful, as a family we enjoyed the games room and the hot tub. The views across to the sea are amazing, we had a bbq in the garden for my birthday, we couldn't have chosen anywhere better, perfect!!!
Had a lovely stay for hubbys 60th. 8 of us went from age 60 10 Best bit was the games room and hot tub although the dart board, darts and cues need replacing but it didnt stop us enjoying our selves. The facilities were good everything you needed and a nice welcome pack. Would definitely recommend for all ages
Lyndsay
We had a fantastic stay at Near Bank, what a great cottage, equipped with everything you need for a great break

Only issue was the hot tub which because it was surrounded by so many plants there were loads of insects in the tub, which made the experience a little less than nice. Other than that, no complaints really nice place would definitely come back and recommend it to others.
We had a lovely weekend at the cottage it was perfect. The cottage is lovely inside and out and we all especially loved the games room and the hot tub and gardens. It was very clean and comfortable and a lovely location. Kath was a great host and checked in to see we had everything we needed and it was all ok. It was a special weekend for me as it was my 50th birthday and kath even put a banner up. We will definitely go back again.
Really nice cottage in a quiet and scenic location. Kath the owner was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
Booked this property for games room, second visit to this property but unfortunately our second visit was let down due to a few littles issues Unable to play snooker due to ques having no tips and ends broken, air hockey not working and table tennis in Need of new bats and balls. Rest of the property was fantastic.
The holiday was absolutely spot on, cant recommend it enough. The lodge was amazing, the owners were amazing, everything you needed was there. Cant say a bad word about it, thank you for having us.
Carolyn
We were a party of 10 including 2 dogs, booked this cottage as a surprise for my Mum's 80th Birthday. The cottage is fantastic, lovely and warm & cosy with a well equipped kitchen. The games room was a hit with the teenagers of our party and the hot tub was a hit with us older ones! You receive a lovely welcome gift on arrival...wine & chocolates. Pretty much everything was included....a few tea bags, coffee, sugar & milk for your first few days, tea towels, dish cloths, dish washer tablets & even hot tub towels bonus. Even the doggies where taken care of with poo bags in the porch. Met Kath on arrival, she was just topping the hot tub up with warm water for us, she was very friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area, gave us some ideas of where to visit during our stay, nothing was too much trouble for her. We all had a brilliant time at the cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to have a special get together or just any get together. Thanks Kath for a lovely weekend....my Mum really enjoyed it too and loved the cottage.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here. It is a great place for a family get together. The facilities are brilliant for adults and children. The cottage is lovely and clean and has everything you could need. Great communication from the host and help when needed. Thanks for a great stay.
Near bank cottage is a beautiful property in an idyllic location and the perfect base for our family holiday. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, super warm and cosy and full of lovely quirky features. The games room and hot tub were our favourite spaces , we spent a lot of time in them! The kitchen is extremely well equipped and easy to use with everything you could ever need. We had a wonderful holiday it was like a home from home though I wish it was my home! so comfortable . Beautiful surroundings , lots of lovely walks and the view of the sea from the cottage allowed us to watch a few gorgeous sunsets, some from the hot tub ! The owner Kath is just the loveliest lady, shes thought of everything, we had a lovely welcome, with two bottles of wine and some choccy biscuits to get our party started. There was even milk for us in the fridge so we could have a cuppa after our long drive this isnt always provided from past experience. A light wasnt working in the downstairs bathroom and she came the next day with a new fitting, kept out of our way and dealt with it very quickly. I cannot recommend this cottage enough. Perfect location, perfect accommodation and we will be returning in the future. Made some fabulous memories in a fabulous setting. Thank you Kath
The property is perfect for a family get together. I couldn't fault it in any way and the owner was very kind and helpful. She made us feel welcome and even put up a birthday banner for my husband! We were sad to leave after such a great time.
Had an absolutely lovely stay. Everything was on hand for us to enjoy a relaxing weekend. Amazing views, the games room and hot tub went down a treat. We will definitely be back!
Perfect property for our family stay. Facilities were spot on, everything we needed to enjoy our stay. One minor thing was one of the bathroom radiators wasn't working and we ran out of wood for the fire, but it was particularly cold during our stay so this wouldn't have been a major issue had this not been the case. Other than that everything was really great and we wouldn't hesitate to revisit.
We have just returned from the most amazing week at Near Bank Cottage! We all absolutely loved the games barn and spent many hours playing in there. The additional seating area was also welcomed by the children as they enjoyed have space away from us adults. The Hot Tub also had lots of use! The house is well appointed it felt a little like staying in the Weasleys Burrow from Harry Potter as it is quirky and has lots of character. There is ample seating for everyone. The views out to the sea are beautiful and there is so much to enjoy in the local area. We will definitely look to return in the future! Thank you
Ashley
This was our 2nd time staying at nearbank cottage, we had a great stay however from the first day we we unable to use the outside facilities including the hot tub as there was an electrical fault and the outside seating area at night time was not an option as it was pitch black. Also the barbeque still had food from the previous stay but had no gas anyway to use it. We also had a few power cuts at night time which with young kids and and a dog isn't ideal. Although a bit disappointed this time with our visit we would still would recommend near bank cottage, just wanted to highlight our issues so they can be rectified for others to fully enjoy their experience.
Property was fantastic. Secluded & peaceful. The Games Room was fabulous for the kids. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Really can't praise highly enough.
Been here before actually been five times so think that speaks for itself the ... Been here before actually been five times so think that speaks for itself the place is amazing and the owner is so helpful and very pleasant cant fault owners or ther cottage
This was the loveliest, most luxurious and comfortable holiday cottage we have ever stayed in! We went with a group of friends to celebrate a friends 30th and it was the perfect setting, with its hot tub and games room and plenty of outdoor space it felt like a dream place to be to mark the event! We had multiple under 5's with us and the holiday let was perfect for them as well, we have recommended it to numerous people and will absolutely be booking to return! Thanks for having us! Elly

South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 12 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 18 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 23 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 26 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 26 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 26 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
